Predicting the indirect tensile strength of self-compacting concrete using artificial neural networks

  • This paper concentrates on the results of experimental work on tensile strength of self-compacting concrete (SCC) caused by flexure, which is called rupture modulus. The work focused on concrete mixes having water/binder ratios of 0.35 and 0.45, which contained constant total binder contents of 500 $kg/m^3$ and 400 $kg/m^3$, respectively. The concrete mixes had four different dosages of a superplasticizer based on polycarboxylic with and without silica fume. The percentage of silica fume that replaced cement in this research was 10%. Based upon the experimental results, the existing equations for anticipating the rupture modulus of SCC according to its compressive strength were not exact enough. Therefore, it is decided to use artificial neural networks (ANN) for anticipating the rupture modulus of SCC from its compressive strength and workability. The conclusion was that the multi layer perceptron (MLP) networks could predict the tensile strength in all conditions, but radial basis (RB) networks were not exact enough in some circumstances. On the other hand, RB networks were more users friendly and they converged to the final networks quicker.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the clinical learning environment, supervision and nurse teacher evaluation scale (CLES+T) that measures the clinical learning environment and the conditions associated with supervision and nurse teachers. Methods: The English CLES+T was translated into Korean with forward and back translation. Survey data were collected from 434 nursing students who had more than four days of clinical practice in Korean hospitals. Internal consistency reliability and construct validity using confirmatory and exploratory factor analysis were conducted. SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 22.0 programs were used for data analysis. Results: The exploratory factor analysis revealed seven factors for the thirty three-item scale. Confirmatory factor analysis supported good convergent and discriminant validities. The Cronbach's alpha for the overall scale was .94 and for the seven subscales ranged from .78 to .94. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the 33-items Korean CLES+T is an appropriate instrument to measure Korean nursing students'clinical learning environment with good validity and reliability.

과학 실험 교육의 현황과 실험 시약 사용의 주의사항 (The Present Status of Science Experimental Education and the Cautions on Using Toxic Chemicals)

  • This research aims to perceive the present state of science experimental education practiced in middle school and also to improve the laboratorial environment. Accordingly, this study surveyed 297 middle school science teachers in Seoul to examine the risks and accidents occurred during lab sessions, the conditions of chemical waste disposal, and whether or not teacher's manual clearly states cautions on toxic chemicals. About 70%(69.6%) of science teachers were highly concerned about risks and toxicity of chemicals used in classes, 59.9% experienced actual accidents, and 83.2% were anxiety of incidents caused by chemicals. Besides, 55.2% of science teachers answered that they have little knowledge about caring noxious chemicals used in lab sessions. So it turns out that they need more specific education on handling toxic chemicals. More than one third(36.7%) answered that they disposed of chemical waste water without any special care or kept it in the lab after experiments. The number of chemicals as well used in middle school curriculum is increasing as grades gets higher toxic chemicals. However, there are few teachers' manual covering how to handle noxious chemicals. Therefore, in middle school curriculum the number of poisonous chemicals should be minimized as much as possible, and in case the toxic chemicals have to be used, teacher's guide book should state precautions on handling chemicals in detail. Also government should make it obligatory on schools to instate ventilator for chemical waste, or to transport the waste to proper disposal systems.

동료의 문제 만들기 과제를 평가하는 과정에서 나타난 예비교사의 주목하기: 순열과 조합을 중심으로 (Pre-service Teachers' Noticing in Peer Evaluation of Mathematical Problem Posing: Focusing on permutation and combination)

  • 본 연구는 순열과 조합 영역에 관한 동료의 문제 만들기 과제를 평가하는 과정에서 나타난 예비교사의 주목하기를 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해, 중등 예비교사 46명을 대상으로 순열과 조합에 관한 실생활 문제 만들기 과제를 수행하도록 하였고, 동료의 수학 과제를 임의로 배정하여 평가하도록 하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 예비교사들은 동료가 만든 수학 문제의 난도에 가장 주목하는 모습이 확인되었고, 특히 난도를 높이기 위해 조건 사용에 주목하는 경향이 있었다. 뿐만 아니라, 예비교사들은 질문과 풀이의 명확성, 문제의 독창성, 맥락의 수학 개념 간의 자연스러운 연결, 수학 개념 간의 융합에 주목하는 모습이 확인되었다.

시호가룡골모려탕(柴胡加龍骨牡蠣湯)을 이용한 발달장애 환자의 ADHD증상 관리 1례 (A case study on a patient of developmental disabilities with ADHD)

  • Objective : The purpose of this report is to submit a case study on a patient of developmental disabilities with ADHD by taking "Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang". Methods : We gave herbal medicine to a patient and observe the progress as the way of Cornners Abbreviated Rating Scale(CARS), ADHD Rating Scale (K-ARS), The ADD-H Comprehensive Teacher's Rating Scale(ACTeRS), Child Attention Problem(CAP), IOWA Conners Rating Scale, Conners Teacher Rating Scale(CTRS), Conners Parents Rating Scale (CPRS), Home Situation Questionnaire(HSQ), School Situation Questionnaire(SSQ). Results : The total score of CARS, ACTeRS and other scales were decreased by taking herbal medicine, and especially hyperactive scores were significantly decreased. Conclusions : Patient's symptom was significantly improved by using "diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun six meridian patterns and provisions" and analyzing patient's psychological and physical conditions.

ICT를 활용한 프로젝트기반학습 연수 참여 교사들의 활용 실태 및 촉진 환경 조건 분석 (An Analysis of ICT Implementation and Environmental Conditions after a Teacher Training for Project-Based Learning with ICT)

  • 본 연구는 초 중등학교 교사들이 ICT를 활용한 프로젝트기반학습(Project-Based Learning) 연수를 참여한 후 수업에 ICT를 어떤 방식으로 어느 정도 활용하는지와 이 과정에서 ICT 활용을 촉진하는 환경 조건들에 대한 교사들의 인식을 조사하였다. 연구 걸과에 따르면 연수 후 수업에서 프로젝트기반학습의 수업 적용도와 수업 진행을 위한 준비 활동에 대한 변화가 있었으며, ICT활용 수업을 하지 못한 교사들의 경우, 적용을 못하는 가장 큰 이유는 수업 계획 및 준비를 위한 시간의 부족이었다. ICT의 활용을 촉진하는 환경 조건들에 대해서 교사들은 현 상태를 불편하게 인식하고 있지 않으며 시간과 보상을 주요 부족 요인으로 인식하였고, 정보통신기술 활용 교육을 위한 지식과 기능, 하드웨어, 소프트웨어, 그리고 휴먼웨어(자원), 참여의식, 제도적, 행정적, 인력 뒷받침(위임), 지도력에 대해서는 어느 정도 갖추어져 있다고 응답했다.

유아교육기관 실외놀이 시설 설비 실태와 안전평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Actual Conditions of Outdoor Facilities Safety in Kindergarten Playground)

  • This study examined the actual conditions of outdoor facilities and evaluated safety evaluations levels in playgrounds based on types of kindergartens. The samples for the survey were 100 kindergartens in Seongnam city Gyeonggi-Do province. Most outdoor facilities consisted of playgrounds with sand area and complex playing equipments, while wood-working area, sensory playing area, and mud playing area were less equipped than other facilities. In the case of outdoor playing facilities there were meaningful environmental differences within kindergartens. The public has less diversity in play areas and equipments and providing safety guidelines in playgrounds than privates. The score for the safety evaluations in the outdoor play environment was higher than average. As the range outdoor playing facilities increased, safety was dually considered, while kindergartens with a higher ratio of child-teacher numbers exhibited less consideration to playground safety.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of parent-bonding patterns & environmental variables on rural adolescent's trait-anxiety. The main results were as follows. Frist mother had more affection and father had more overprotection in parent-bonding patterns. Trait-anxiety was the level of medium. Second home atmosphere home life satisfaction parents' scolding health conditions allowance satisfaction friendship the relationship with home teachers school life satisfaction and teacher's scolding were significnat variables on trait anxiety Third an analysis of parent-bonding relationship environmental variable and trait-anxiety showed that school life satisfaction family atmosphere friendship and health conditions were the most crucial environmental variable while father's care and mother's overprotection were the most crucial parent-bonding variables on rural adolescent's trait-anxiety.

The Effects of Generative Concept Map on Science Learning Achievement and Cognitive Load

  • This study investigated the effect of generative concept maps according to learning achievements and cognitive load. A total of 78 students in the first grade of middle school participated in this study. Before the experimental treatment was implemented, students had to fill out a questionnaire assessing prior knowledge. The study was designed where all the students were presented the same learning contents regarding photosynthesis; however, the two experimental groups were provided with different concept map methods: a learner-generative concept map (GCM) and an instructor-provided concept map (PCM). GCM students were asked to make a concept map by themselves in small groups while they are reading material. PCM students were instructed to study in small groups in order to read the material; however, they were provided a concept map developed by their teacher. The control group (CG) had the teacher present the learning contents in traditional lecture format with no accompanying concept map. The results show that there were significant differences in the achievements among the groups. CG showed higher achievement than both the experimental groups. There was also a significant difference in cognitive load. Although the GCM group did not obtain higher achievement than the other groups, the GCM group showed higher mental effort and lower physical fatigue than the other groups. The GCM group might have invested more effort to find and connect ideas when drawing their concept map with peers which is unlike the conditions for the PCM group and CG. In conclusion, we should consider applying GCM in teaching and learning design in order to increase learning achievement and decrease extraneous cognitive load.

관찰·추천제에 의한 수학영재 선발 시 사용되는 교사추천서와 자기소개서 평가에 대한 다변량 일반화가능도 이론의 활용 (An Application of Multivariate Generalizability Theory to Teacher Recommendation Letters and Self-introduction Letters Used in Selection of Mathematically Gifted Students by Observation and Nomination)

  • 이 연구는 관찰 추천제에 의한 수학영재 선발 시 사용되는 자기소개서와 교사추천서를 활용하여 측정상황에서 발생하는 오차요인들의 상대적인 영향력을 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 채점 영역 내의 문항 수의 조건을 변화시킴으로써 일반화가능도계수를 최대화할 수 있는 효율적인 측정 조건을 탐색하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 2011학년도 수도권에 소재하고 있는 대학부설 과학영재교육원 수학분야에 지원한 90명의 자기소개서와 교사추천서를 2명의 교사가 분석적 방법으로 채점한 자료에 대해 다변량 일반화가능도 분석을 적용하였다. 이 연구 결과 산출된 최적의 측정 조건은 특정 영재교육원에서 제작한 루브릭을 바탕으로 수학영재를 선발하기 위해 사용된 선발도구에만 국한되지만, 이 연구에서 적용한 방법론적 틀은 시 도 교육청 영재교육원, 영재학급 그리고 대학의 영재교육원 등 각 영재교육 현장에서 직접 제작한 선발도구에 측정학적 특성을 바탕으로 최적의 측정 조건을 탐색하는 데 적용 가능하다.
