  • Steel sleepers have largely two types, n and Y types, depending on their shapes and are used mostly in Europe since 1980. The sleepers are made of steel of high strength and toughness, and thus recycling is completely possible up to $100\%$. Since the weight is almost one quarter and the less of that of concrete sleeper, the cost for delivery is saved. In addition, high economical efficiency is expected from the extended maintenance intervals. The n type is used in Europe, Australia, mideast Asia and north America whereas the Y type in Germany. Steel sleeper with high functionality is domestically developed through the comparison of characteristics with the shapes.

  • Asphalt concrete track (ACT) is a track system connecting wide sleepers and concrete panels on top of an asphalt concrete layer; such a system requires adequate resistance force against various longitudinal and lateral external loads. In this study, a series of experiments were carried out to assess the longitudinal and lateral resistance force of a wide sleeper and concrete panel type ACT. The required shear resistance force of the horizontal displacement restraint device (HDRD) was evaluated. Furthermore, a concrete block type anchor and a steel pipe type anchor were developed as HDRDs. The shear resistance force was decided based on the experimental results of horizontal shear tests for each anchor system. In addition, proper numbers and arrangement design guidelines for the HDRDs were suggested considering the shear resisting capacity and economics for HDRDs applied to ACT.

  • Rail support modulus is an important parameter for analysis and design of ballasted railway tracks. One of the challenges in track stiffness assessment is its dynamic nature under the moving trains which differs it from the case of standing trains. So the present study is allocated to establish a relation between the dynamic and static stiffness of ballasted tracks via field measurements. In this regard, two different sites of ballasted tracks with wooden and concrete sleepers were selected and the static and dynamic stiffness were measured based on Talbot - Wasiutynski method. In this matter, the selected tracks were loaded by two heavy and light car bodies for standing and moving conditions and consequently the deflection basins were evaluated in both sites. Knowing the deflection basins respect to light and heavy loading conditions, both of static and dynamic stiffness values were extracted. Finally two definite relations were obtained for ballasted tracks with wooded and concrete sleepers.

  • Turnout is a mechanical installation enabling railway trains to be guided from one track to another at a railway junction. there are classified variously according to rail type, sleeper type, fastening system, track type. Construction of concrete track are on the increase recently to secure the safety of track structure as well as to reduce the maintenance cost. SFC fastening system used the plain track a lot and for those reasons, The fast clip turnout demand growing to improving efficiency of the maintenance cost by unification of fastening clip on whole line. in this study is about development of the fastening system for new turnout using fast clip. this fastening system assembled elasticity pad underneath a base plate. its can change stiffness how to adjust contact surface area of elasticity pad Developed fastening system have passed test according to rule of KRS-TR0014-09R (rail fastening system) and Performance Certification by KR.

  • Impact factor of concrete and ballast track which has been used in Korea railway was applied to equation (1+0.513V/100) from AREA. As the use of this equation, overcapacity of track design might be occurred. Therefore, this study compared impact of ballast track (well, bad) and concrete track (sleeper embeded system, rail floating and sleeper floating) by field test to analyzing dynamic effect of track structure's characterstic and wheel load on service line. In addition, it suggested a method to generate reasonable impact factor on each track type.

  • The Permanent Way consisting of rails and sleeper laid on ballast is a technically and economically viable solution. After two decades of targeted research and development activities Slab Track turned out to be a reasonable option on special fields. Slab Track proves that especially under extreme condition and loads - they reliably help stability and a long service life of track. Technical and experimental solution of slab track are particularly underlined. This paper presents a few Results of the experiments of SFRC slab tracks under fatigue load.

  • The urban railway sleeper floating track, the subject of this study, is an anti-vibration track to reduce vibration transmitted to the structure. currently, the replacement cycle of resilience pad for sleeper floating tracks is set and operated based on load. however, most previous studies were conducted on load-based structural safety aspects, such as fatigue life evaluation of sleeper anti-vibration pads and increase in track impact coefficient and track support stiffness due to increase in spring stiffness. therefore, in this study, we measure the vibration acceleration of the ballast for each analysis section and use the results of 7 million fatigue tests to calculate the spring stiffness of the resilience pad for each section. the spring stiffness of the resilience pad calculated for each section was set as the analysis data and the concrete vibration acceleration was derived analytically. the adequacy of analysis modeling was verified as the analyzed concrete bed vibration acceleration for each section was within the field-measured concrete bed vibration acceleration range. using the vibration acceleration curve according to the derived spring stiffness change, the spring stiffness of the resilience pad is estimated from the measured vibration acceleration. therefore, we would like to present a technique that can estimate the spring stiffness of resilience pad of a running track using the vibration acceleration of the measured concrete bed.

  • In this study, to examine the causes of cracks in continuously reinforced concrete tracks (CRCTs) and the main factors affecting cracking, a field survey on the status of cracks and crack patterns in the Gyeong-bu high speed line was conducted, and the crack patterns of CRCT due to the temperature difference between the top of the slab (TCL) and the bottom of the subbase (HSB) and the drying shrinkage of concrete were predicted by a nonlinear finite element model considering the structure of CRCT. The results of the numerical analysis show that cracks will be developed at the interface between the sleeper and the TCL, and under the sleeper due to the temperature difference and concrete shrinkage. This corresponds well to the crack locations found in the field. Also, it is found that the most significant factors are the coefficient of thermal expansion with respect to the temperature difference, and the drying shrinkage strain with respect to shrinkage. According to the results, the reinforcement ratio should be carefully determined considering the structures of CRCT because the crack spacing is not always proportional to the reinforcement ratio due to the sleepers embedded in the TCL.
