A Natural Language Query Framework for the Semantic Web

  • This study proposes a Natural Language Query Framework (NLQF) for the semantic web. It supports an intelligent inference at a semantic level. Most of previous researches focused on the knowledge representation on the semantic web. However, to revitalize the intelligent e-business on the semantic web, there is a need for semantic level inference to the web information. To satisfy the need, we will review the knowledge/resource representation on the semantic web such as RDF, Ontology and Conceptual Graph (CG), and then discuss about the natural language (NL) inference. The result of this research could support a natural interface for the semantic web. Furthermore, we expect that the NLQF can be used in the semantic web-based business communications.

A Case Study of Procedural and Conceptual Knowledge Construction in the Computer Environments

  • This study investigated three preservice teachers' mathematical problem solving among hand-in-write-ups and final projects for each subject. All participants' activities and computer explorations were observed and video taped. If it was possible, an open-ended individual interview was performed before, during, and after each exploration. The method of data collection was observation, interviewing, field notes, students' written assignments, computer works, and audio and videotapes of preservice teachers' mathematical problem solving activities. At the beginning of the mathematical problem solving activities, all participants did not have strong procedural and conceptual knowledge of the graph, making a model by using data, and general concept of a sine function, but they built strong procedural and conceptual knowledge and connected them appropriately through mathematical problem solving activities by using the computer technology.

모델베이스 설계를 위한 개념적 모델링 도구에 관한 연구 (A Conceptual Modeling Tools for the Model Base Design)

  • In many literatures of model management, various schemes for representing model base schema have proposed. Ultimately, the goal is to arrive at a set of mutually supportive and synergistic methodologies and tools for the modeling problem domain and model base design. This paper focus on how best to structure and represent conceptual model of problem domain and schema of model base. Semantic concepts and modeling constructs are valuable conceptual tools for understanding the structural relationships and constraints involved in an model management environment. To this end, we reviewed the model management literature, and analyzed the constructs of modeling tools of data model management graph-based approach. Although they have good tools but most of them are not enough for the representation of structural relationships and constraints. So we wanted more powerful tools which can represent diverse constructs in a decision support modeling and model base schema design. For the design of a model base, we developed object modeling framework which uses Object Modeling Techniques (OMT). In Object Modeling Framework, model base schema are classified into conceptual schema, logical schema, and physical schema. The conceptual schema represents the user's view of problem domain, and the logical schema represents a model formatted by a particular modeling language. The schema design, this paper proposes an extension of Object Model to overcome some of the limitations exhibited by the OMT. The proposed tool, Extended Object Model(EOM) have diverse constructs for the representation of decision support problem domain and conceptual model base schema.

이차함수 그래프에 관련된 중학교 3학년 학생들이 범하는 오류와 교정 (A study on the Analysis and the Correction of third-year Middle School Students Error Related to Graph of Quadratic Function)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze error patterns third-year middle school students make on quadratic function graph problems and to examine about the possible correct them by providing supplementary tutoring. To exam the error patterns that occur during problem solving processes, to 82 students, We provided 25 quadratic function graph problems in the preliminary-test. The 5 types of errors was conceptual errors, false intuition errors, incorrect use of conditions in problems, technical errors, and errors from slips or carelessness. Statistical analysis of the preliminary-test and post-test shows that achievement level was higher in the post-test, after supplementary tutoring, and the t-test proves this to be meaningful data. According to the per subject analyses, the achievement level in the interest of symmetry, parallel translation, and general graph, respectively, were all higher in the post-test than the preliminary-test and this is meaningful data as well. However, no meaningful relation could be found between the preliminary-test and the post-test on other subjects such as graph remodeling and relations positions of the parabola. For the correction of errors, try the appropriate feedback and various teaching and learning methods.

  • Loop transversal codes take an alternative approach to the theory of error-correcting codes, placing emphasis on the set of errors that are to be corrected. Hitherto, the loop transversal code method has been restricted to linear codes. The goal of the current paper is to extend the conceptual framework of loop transversal codes to admit nonlinear codes. We present a natural example of this nonlinearity among perfect single-error correcting codes that exhibit efficient domination in a circulant graph, and contrast it with linear codes in a similar context.

  • 언어표현에 대한 해석은 그 구성요소들의 통사적-어휘적 구조에 덧붙여 대명사의 동일지시를 살펴야 할 필요가 있다. 조응의 분석과 조응적 선행사를 찾기 위한 효과적인 방법을 발견하는 것이 컴퓨터 언어학(computational linguistics), 특히 자연언어 이해체계(Natural Language understanding system)에 관한 연구의 중심적인 문제라고 할 수 있다. 이 논문의 목적은 영어 조응표현을 개념구조 이론(Conceptual Structure Theory)의 개념도식(conceptual graph)에 의하여 기술함으로써 단문에서뿐만 아니라 복문, 양화구문, 그리고 담화에 이르기까지 언어 전반에 걸쳐 나타나는 동일지시성(coreferenciality)을 간단하고 일관성 있게 설명하는 것이다. 이러한 조응현상을 설명하기 위하여 필자는 개념도식상의 개념을 중심개념, 직접개념, 간접개념으로 구분하고 이들이 문맥깊이 등과 더불어 동일지시성을 설명하는데 중심적 역할을 함을 보이고자 한다.

한국어 보조동사의 인식 및 개념그래프에 의한 표현 (The Recognition of Korean Auxiliary Verb and its Description Based on Conceptual Graph)

  • 한국어 보조동사는 그 수가 적음에도 불구하고 한국어 문장에서 자주 쓰인다 그러나 보조동사의 개념을 정확하게 처리하지 않을 경우에 기계번역의 질이 좋지 않다. 이런 보조동사처리의 문제들을 해결하기 위해 본 논문은 개념그래프에 기반을 둔 보조동사의 기술을 제안한다. 보조동사의 개념그래프 기술을 위해, 각종 논문과 국어사전에서 한국어 보조동사 40개와 여러 예문들을 수집한 후, 완료, 진행, 봉사, 시도, 강세, 원망, 지속, 추정의 8가지 의미로 분류하고 이들을 개념그래프로 기술한다. 실험에서는 한국어 보조동사가 포함된 문장을 입력받아 개념그래프로 변환하는 프로그램을 구현하고 실험 결과를 기술한다.

  • 한국어 보조 형용사 및 사동과 피동은 그 수가 얼마 되지 않음에도 불구하고 한국어 문장에서 자주 쓰인다. 하지만 한국어보조 형용사 및 사동과 피동의 개념을 정확하게 처리하지 않으면 기계번역의 질이 나라진다. 이런 문제들을 해결하기 위해 본 논문은 개념그래프에 기반을 둔 보조 형용사 및 사동과 피동의 기술을 제안한다. 이들의 개념그래프 기술을 위해, 보조 형용사 12개, 사동사 425, 피동사 260개를 조사하여 의미에 따라 분류한 후, 보조 형용사 및 사동과 피동을 개념그래프에 기반 하여 기술한다. 또한 실험에서는 보조 형용사 및 사동과 피동이 포함된 문장을 입력받아 개념그래프로 변환하는 보조 형용사 및 사동과 피동 처리 도우미라는 프로그램을 구현한다.

Software Engineering Meets Network Engineering: Conceptual Model for Events Monitoring and Logging

  • Abstraction applied in computer networking hides network details behind a well-defined representation by building a model that captures an essential aspect of the network system. Two current methods of representation are available, one based on graph theory, where a network node is reduced to a point in a graph, and the other the use of non-methodological iconic depictions such as human heads, walls, towers or computer racks. In this paper, we adopt an abstract representation methodology, the thinging machine (TM), proposed in software engineering to model computer networks. TM defines a single coherent network architecture and topology that is constituted from only five generic actions with two types of arrows. Without loss of generality, this paper applies TM to model the area of network monitoring in packet-mode transmission. Complex network documents are difficult to maintain and are not guaranteed to mirror actual situations. Network monitoring is constant monitoring for and alerting of malfunctions, failures, stoppages or suspicious activities in a network system. Current monitoring systems are built on ad hoc descriptions that lack systemization. The TM model of monitoring presents a theoretical foundation integrated with events and behavior descriptions. To investigate TM modeling's feasibility, we apply it to an existing computer network in a Kuwaiti enterprise to create an integrated network system that includes hardware, software and communication facilities. The final specifications point to TM modeling's viability in the computer networking field.

개념구조론에 의한 영어 관계절의 기술 (A Description of English Relative Clauses With conceptual Structure Theory)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 영어 관계절의 의미를 분석하여 컴퓨터의 자연언어 처리 및 기계번역에 사용될 수 있는 중간언어(interlanguage)형식으로 의미표시(semantic representation)하려는 것이다.이를 위하여 최근에 미국의 John.F.Sowa를 중심으로 개발되고 있는 개념구조론(Conceptual Structure Theory)에서의 개념도식(conceptual graph)을 이용하였다.우선 개념구조론을 고찰한 후, 영어 관계절을 제한적 의미와 비제한적 의미에 따라 다르게 기술하였는데,제한적 관계절은-표현을 이용하고,비제한 관계절은 동격의 의미와 부사적 의미,그리고 논평적 의미에 따라 다르게 기술하였다.
