  • The development of information & communication technology in 21st century along with the mass media In 20th century, the influence of state-of-art culture in our society rapidly increased in these days. This state-of-art culture makes the world becomes single-channeled by network, and there is a big change not only in human life but also in concept and understand for art and space. The development of digital paradigm and media technology is exerting a strong influence on the Ubiquitous computing environment that is being drawn great interest. The ubiquitous is concerned as expansion of media art, and the interactive art which is part of media art has the similarity with the ubiquitous computing environment. In this study, the possibility of connection between the territory of ubiquitous environment which is recently focused and has strong interrelation feature, and the territory of interacting will be examined. Furthermore, possibility of new space design work through seeking the possibility of connection between two territories will be estimated.

  • The use of geogrid for SRW systems and bridge abutment has increased rapidly over the past 10 years in Korea. The concept of segmental retaining walls and reinforced soil is very old and for example The Ziggurats of Babylonia(i.e. Tower of Babel) were built some 2,500 to 3,000 years ago using soil reinforcing methods very similar to those described in current design. Modern SRW(Semental Retaining Wall) units were introduced in 1960's as concrete crib retaining wall systems. In this paper, the friction properties between segmental concrete units and geogrid are investigated by performing various tests.

  • With the advent of lean-six sigma era, an extensive use of analytic tools such as control charts is required in the field of manufacturing. In relation to statistical quality control (SQC) or process control (SPC), the Korean standards have undergone a meaningful change. In this study, the theoretic backgrounds for evaluating the control limits in connection with the variable control charts are examined in view of better understanding the related constants and coefficients. This paper is intended to help the quality control practitioners understand the mathematical backgrounds by comparing related quality control constants and also to encourage them to make use of and to take the advantage of the variable control charts which are very useful for implementing the concept of lean-six sigma in many industrial sites.

  • This paper presents the cyclic seismic performance of slip-critically designed, high-strength bolted-beam splice in steel moment frame. Before the moment connection reaching its plastic strength, unexpected premature slippage occurred at the slip-critically designed beam splice during the test. The experimentally observed frictional coefficients were as low as about 50% to 60% of nominal (code) value. Nevertheless, the bearing type behavior mobilized after the slippage transferred the increasing cyclic loads successfully, i.e., the consequence of slippage into bearing was not catastrophic to the connection behavior. The test result seems to indicate that the traditional beam splice design basing upon (bolt-hole deducted) effective flange area criterion may not be sufficient in developing the plastic strength of moment connections under severe earthquake loading. New procedure for achieving slip-critical beam splice design is proposed based on capacity design concept.

  • Nursing theory is used to explain the goals and functions of nursing and improve practical affairs by providing information and knowledge about the principles which become the foundation of nursing practical affairs. Theoretical analytical compliance with C-T-E (Conceptual-Theoretical-Empirical) structures by Fawcett (1999) whose evaluation method illustrates the relationship of conceptual models, theory, research and structure. The evaluation allows the nurse to visualize the connection, evaluate research, and reduce errors in research. Consequently present doctorate dissertations in nursing science are theoretical propriety, connection in the structure of concepts, theory, research methods, and evaluation to reduce errors in future research plans and division of theoretical development process. So the following verifies logicality, propriety, and reliability which must apply to research in various different fields.

  • The yardstick of value has transformed into personal and sensitive one after it went through an Industrial society. The space in the society of sensitivity is defined by a semiotic character rather than as a physical object aimed at satisfying basic desire. Through this character, space makes a meaning and comes to exist an exchanging productive place. Environmental transformation is demanding further ample sensitive expression. In connection with the above, this thesis aims to identify the characteristics of sensitive and human-centered approach and systematize the analogy analysis which is applied to the interior space, classified by elements by introducing the concept of analogic inference in the field of rhetoric and through a diverse genres. As an approach, this thesis is entitled the analogic inference of the field of rhetoric to various art genres, and as a analogic interpretation genre, this thesis Is subdivided it into the fields of literature, image, fashion, flower art, and visual design, and study the analysis of analogic inference as a means of materializing storied space through the connection literature with design.

  • The direction of this project is creates a future and it experiences ubiquitous world. The subject of the space is 'Ubiquitous Creative World' which Imagining the past becomes actuality and imagining in future become actuality and future when it will approach at once. The storyline of this space is as belows; 1 Zone - Ubiquitous life Gallery : it will be able to experience the future world ; home, office, street, school and the others. 2 Zone - Interactive Play Gallery : it will be able to explore the interactive media with information technology ; digital cafe, imagining jump, digital art and the others. 3 Zone - New product and Business Gallery : it composed with business, new product, and demonstration gallery such as public information space. The space concept makes connection and concentration which uses unit and line for world which becomes accomplished by the network. Connection of digital and the human being to make the center of new digital life.

  • Matsumoto Makoto is regarded as founding father of the Japanese school of Finsler geometry because he established the Japanese Society of Finsler Geometry in 1968 and organized the Symposium every year since then. In this paper, we investigate how Matsumoto initiated the study of this topic leaping over geographical limit and how Yano Kentaro and Kawaguchi Akitsugu had affected Matsumoto in the formation of the Japanese school of Finsler geometry. We also take a view of the role of É. Cartan who invented the concept of the connection in early 20th century in this regard.

  • Although the concept of light is important in the elementary school curriculum, substantial research suggests that students and teachers have difficulties in understanding it. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the reasons for these difficulties-whether it is due to the content or due to the presentation method of contents, structure, and expression. The national curriculum and textbooks of Korea, the US, China, and Japan were comparatively analyzed from the following perspectives: 1) key concepts of light, 2) structure of light units in the textbook, 3) materials, light sources, and optics used in light units. Consequently, there were differences between countries in their inclusion of the concept of light in the curriculum. In particular, the Korean curriculum studies the concept of refraction by a convex lens, whereas the concept of light, light source, and vision is not introduced. Furthermore, countries also differed in their structuring of units. The Korean curriculum was presented segmentally by concept rather than structured according to core ideas or perspectives, and the connection between concepts was unclear. In addition, there were differences between the countries in materials, light sources, and optical instruments to explain key concepts. On using light, the US curriculum provides a purpose and uses light to achieve it, and China and Korea understand the concept. It was divided into the method of using the material to deepen. Based on the results of this analysis, the implications for the elementary science curriculum in Korea were derived as follows. First, it is necessary to introduce concepts sequentially and organize them so that the connection between concepts is well expressed. Second, it is necessary to introduce light and light sources as the predominant concepts. Third, it is necessary to include the principle of seeing objects. Fourth, it is necessary to adjust the material and content level of the refraction concept included in the light and lens unit. Fifth, an integrated approach is required because light has a deep connection with various concepts included in the elementary science curriculum.
