  • Following to current interior design that becoming more varied and composite, minimal tendency has also been changed. Furthermore, according to the lapse of time, minimalism, a space design, has been developed in a new look among such complex trends. Therefore, in this study, changes of tendency into a style of minimalism and characteristics thereof shown in interior design amid current of times were carefully reviewed, and local and foreign artists together with their works were investigated and analyzed having focused on the inclination of minimalism displayed in interiors of commercial spaces, especially before or after 2000s by dividing them into distinctive features in connection with space, material and type. It is thought that the interior space under the concept of minimalism will be changed and developed further in a variety of shapes to suit the environments in the current era getting rid of simple physical characteristics.

Study on the Hydrofilm Extrusion through Conically Converging Dies (원추형 금형을 통한 박막식 정수압 압출 에 관한 연구)

  • The study is concerned with an analysis on the hydrofilm extrusion through conical dies. The upper bound method is adopted for the analysis of metal deformation in connection with hydrodynamic lubrication theory for the lubricant in order to determine the extrusion pressure for some variables such as reduction of area, die cone angle. In the upper bound method, a kinematically admissible velocity field is found by assuming proper streamlines and applying the flow function concept to the region of plastic deformation. The effect of work hardening is incorporated approximately by calculating the strains at the exit of the die. The experiments are carried out with the commercially pure aluminium for some chosen variables at room temperature. It is shown that the theoretical predictions are in good agreement with the experimental observations.

  • In recent years, Internet/Intranet represents the next generation of computing environment. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate WWW((World Wide Web) over internet/intranet and DBMS(Database Management System) in proportion to the increase of various users' request and an amount of data variety. Also, also full variety of service over WWW need to accomplish rapidly modification of bug and make a betterment of system according to a feature of rapid change of information and an importance of interaction with users. The typical CGI method commonly used to connect with database has a disadvantage in time and resources in system due to frequent connection with database. Therefore, this paper provides the conceptual structure and implementation of information management system over WWW with applying a recent information technology called ASP(Active Server Pages) that controls and arranges client logic dynamically in server-side and introducing a concept of working group and folder to database design.

  • This study analyzes the new possibility of design through the research for the expression of cladding design architectural materials, and applies to connection with creative design concept. In these modern days, architectural materials became the subject of expression as itself thanks to the development of new technology and materials. The physical properties of materials and their beauty value made possible the variety and possibility of expression in space design. The expressional properties of materials can lead mutual communication between commodity and brand by association, presenting brand image and the distinction of its value. Therefore, the trends of designed material expression in space design according to modern aspect can offer the possibility of material space design for ahead. This study suggest an alternative idea for revitalizing design by materials.

  • The Oktalok nodal connection system is an aesthetic and efficient system. It has been widely used throughout Australia. The paper will briefly introduce the concept and application of the Oktalok nodal system. The existing design method is based on the assumption that the joints are pin-ended, i.e., the rotational stiffness of the joints is zero. However the ultimate capacity of the frame may increase significantly depending on the rotational stiffness of the joints. Stiffness tests and finite element simulations were carried out to determine the rotational stiffness of the Oktalok joints. Column buckling tests and non-linear finite element analyses were performed to determine the member capacity of columns with semi-rigid end conditions. A simple formulae for the effective length factor of column buckling is derived based on the above experimental and theoretical investigations.

  • With the rise in CPU power and the generalization and popularity of computers, engineering practice also changed from hand calculations to 3D computer models, from elastic linear analysis to 3D nonlinear static analysis and 3D nonlinear transient dynamic analysis. Thanks to holistic design approach and current trends in freeform and contemporary architecture, BIM concept is no longer a dream but also a reality. BIM is not just providing a media for better co-ordination but also to shorten the round-the-clock time in updating models to match with other professional disciplines. With the parametric modeling tools, structural information is also linked with BIM system and quickly produces analysis and design results from checking to fabrication. This paper presents a new framework which not just linked the BIM system by means of parametric mean but also create and produce connection FE model and fabrication drawings etc. This framework will facilitate structural engineers to produce well co-ordinate, optimized and safe structures.

  • Green Frame is a column-beam system that uses composite precast concrete members. Previous studies have proven this system to be not only structurally safe, constructible, and economically feasible, but also environmentally-friendly. If the computerized program is used to estimate the quantity, the result of it shall be calculated much easily, quickly and exactly than manual estimation, because precast concrete members of Green Frame has standard size and connection method between it. Therefore, this study suggest quantity survey concept for column-beam structure comprised of composite precast concrete members. Hereafter, the quantity survey of Green Frame shall be much quickly and accurate, if the system would be made based on the result of this study.

On the Motion of the Structure Varying Multibody Systems with Two-Dimensional Dry Friction

  • In the present paper the dynamics of the structure varying multibody systems caused by stick-slip motion with two-dimensional dry friction are analyzed. The methods to determine friction force both in stick and slip states are described. The direct method of considering the wagon bogie system as a structure varying system was used to consider two dimensional friction at the wheelset-side frame connection. The concept of friction direction angle used to determine the friction force components of two-dimensional dry friction both in the stick and slip motion states was used. A speed depended friction coefficient was used and described approximately by hyperbolic secant function. All switch conditions were derived and friction forces both for stick and slip states. Some simulation results are provided.

  • This study finds out and suggests success factors for the application of RIMS project through the case study of Seoul Metro and literature survey. The successful application of RIMS needs expert knowledge and concept of BOM, standardization of maintenance planning, check lists of heavy maintenance inspection, organization structure of rolling stock maintenance offices, material management system of warehousing and the process of parts repairing between offices, connection of material ordering system, problem solving of circular spare parts administration among inspection, maintenance, and material organizational units, systemic serial number management of parts with RFID, daily closing diary connected with work process chart, and sufficient period of RIMS's test run. RIMS contributes to real time management of rolling stock maintenance, transparency of management, reliability of train operation, customer satisfaction, and management innovation.
