  • This paper presents a Petri net approach for the control and monitoring of discrete event system. The proposed model is fuzzy Petri nets based on the fuzzy logic with Petri nets and the hierarchy concept. Fuzzy Petri nets have been used to model the imprecise situations which can arise within automated manufacturing system, and also the hierarchy concept allow to handle the refinement of places and transition in Petri nets model. These will form the foundation of a simulator-tool with manipulation interface for application of fuzzy Petri nets.

  • In this paper, we define the concept of a c-net and study the convergence of c-nets. Also we show that a c-net in a topological space X has a convergent sub-c-net if and only if X is a $Lindel{\ddot{o}}f$ space, if every $G_{\delta}$ set is open in X.

  • A scheduler for a class of Factory Automation (FA) systems is suggested. The technique of Timed Petri Nets is used to model FA systems and, a new concept called Unit Timed Petri Nets is proposed to schedule the system. The scheduler consists of two parts, scheduling rules and input jobs. Since flexibility should be an indispensable ingredient of the scheduler for FA systems, the method using Timed Petri Nets is adopted to represent scheduling rules in a simple and systematic manner and the scheduler is implemented with the PROLOG language. The proposed scheduler is applied to the realistic problem of flow shop.

  • In this paper, a system of automatic placement and routing for gate array layout design is proposed. In the placement stage, the circuit is partitioned and using the concept of min-cut slicing, and each partitioned module is placed, so that the routing density over the entire chip be uniformized and the total wiring length be minimized. In the global routing stage, the concept of the probabilistic routing density is introduced to unify the wiring congestions in each channel. In the detailed routing stage, the multi-terminal nets are partitioned into the two-terminal nets. The ordered channel graph is proposed which implies the vertical and the horizontal constranint graphs simultaneously. And using the ordered channel graph, the proposed routing algorithm assigns the signal nets to the tracks. Also the proposed placement and routing algorithms are implimented on IBM/PC-AT to construct PC-level gate array layout system.

  • Three synchronic variables (Deviation Time, Fairness Time, Synchronic Time) are defined for Timed Place Petri Nets (TPPN). These parameters show the dependency between the firing of transition subsets in the time domain by different values. The approaches in this paper can be used to find synchronic relations in Stochastic Petri Nets. This paper presents how to decide the minimum resources required to a Flexible Manufacturing Cell using Synchronic Time concept.

  • The purpose of the following report is to introduce a model that makes it possible to efficiently search data by using keyword-based concept network for reliable access of information which is rapidly increasing in the mobile cloud. A keyword-based concept network is a method with the application of ontology. However, the proposed model is added by association information between keyword concepts as a method for a user's efficient information retrieval. Furthermore, the proposed concept network consists of the keyword centered concept network, expert-group-recommended field concept network, and process concept network.

  • Deadlock usually appears in contain subsystem which is run in parallel and resources share modules. Siphons and traps have been well introduced to characterize deadlocks of Petri nets. Siphon concept be well used for proposing the detect and prevent deadlock by the pleasure researchers. But it's need many times and efforts to detect all siphon sub-nets in the Petri model. Since transitive matrix could explain all relations between the place and transitions in Petri nets, we propose an algorithm to detect all siphon sub-nets after analyzed the transitive matrix's properties. Examples are givens to illustrate the method.

  • As a general model of rule-based systems, we propose a model for a fuzzy production system having chaining rules and an inference engine associated with the model. The concept of so-called 'fuzzy petri nets' is used to model the fuzzy production system and the inference engine is designed to be capable of handling inexact knowledge. The fuzzy logic is adopted to represent vagueness in the rules and the certainty factor is used to express uncertainty of each rules given by a human expert. Parallel, inference schemes are devised by transforming Fuzzy Petri nets to matrix formula. Futher, the inference engine mechanism under the Mamdani's implication method can be desceribed by a simple algebraic formula, which makes real time inference possible.

  • A symbolic performance analysis approach for flexible for manufactring systems (FMS) can be formulated based on the integration of Petri Nets (PN) and moment generating function (MGF) concept. In this method, generalized stochastic Petri Nets are used to define performance models for FMS, then MGF nased approach for evaluating stochastic PN is used to derive performance parameters of PN, and finally system performance is calculated. A GSPN model of machine cell is shown to illustrate the proposed method for evaluating such performance indices as production rate, utilization, work-in-process and lead time. The major advantage of this method over existing performance evaluation of FMS is the ability to compute symbolic solutions for performance. Finally future research toward automating performance measure for GSPN models of FMS is discussed.

  • This paper proposes a modeling and simulation process of a panel production line (PPL) in a shipyard. The panel production line is an assembly process to produce a main panel of a flat block and a curved block. In this paper, its activity analysis is carried out using expression of IDEF0, and its process is qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed and modeled by Petri Nets. A commercial discrete event simulation tool, $QUEST^{TM}$, is used for virtual PPL and simulation. The modeling results by Petri Net are mapped to elements of the simulation tool. Finally, an integrated simulation environment of PPL is implemented in order to efficiently utilize the virtual PPL model. With the help of IDEF0 and Petri Nets, we could systematically analyze and describe the PPL process that are characterized as being concurrent, asynchronous, distributed, parallel, nondeterministic, and/or stochastic. Also, the dynamic and concurrent activities of a PPL system were able to be simulated. A timing concept can be included into the Petri nets model to evaluate performance and dependability issues of the system.
