필터 삽입에 의한 외란 관측기의 성능 향상과 하드디스크 장치에의 적용 (Enhanced Performance of Disturbance Observer by Embedding a Filter and Its Application to Hard Disk Drive)

  • In this paper, we present a new control structure which is obtained by adding an appropriately designed filter to a conventional disturbance observer. The proposed controlled system preserves advantages of a system with the conventional disturbance observer; disturbance rejection and nominal performance recovery. In particular, by embedding the filter, the disturbance rejection performance is enhanced compared with that of the classical disturbance observer-based controlled system. Moreover, we suggest a condition for the robust internal stability of the considered system in this paper. Simulation results regarding an effect of relatively high-frequency disturbance on hard disk drive are also presented.

Intelligent Motion Planner for Redundant Manipulators Controlled by Neuro-Biological Signals

  • There are many researches on using human neuro-biological signals for various problems such as controlling a mechanical object and/or interfacing human with the computer. It is one of very interesting topics that human can use various instruments without learning specific knowledge if the instruments can be controlled as human intends. In this paper, we proposed an intelligent motion planner for a redundant manipulator, which is controlled by humans neuro-biological signals, especially, EOG (Electrooculogram). We found the optimal motion planner for the redundant manipulator that can move to the desired point. We used neural networks to find the inverse kinematics solution of the manipulator. We also showed the performance of the proposed motion planner with several simulations.

  • This study was carried out to develop a system and methodology to simulate the engine load variation occuring during agricultural field operations for a laboratory engine test. The system consisted of an electric dynamometer, an Apple II microcomputer, and a data acquisition and control system. Several pieces of instruments were utilized to measure various engine performance data. Both engine torque and engine speed were fully controlled by a computer program. The dynamic characteristics of the system were analyzed through a series of tests and the limitations on the load simulation test were presented. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. Engine speed and toque were controlled by a computer program. The use of a stepping motor and reduction gears enabled engine speed be controlled within 1 rpm. 2. The natural frequency of the dynamometer-engine system was found to be around 5 Hz, at which the load simulation would be impossible because of resonance. 3. For the harmonic inputs with the frequencies above the natural frequency, the signal attenuated too much and therefore the load simulation was impossible. 4. The step response of the system showed an overshoot of 24.5 percent and the settling time for 5 percent criterion was around 3 seconds. 5. When actual field test data are utilized for load simulation, a low-pass filter should be included to attenuate the frequency components around and above the natural frequency.

Smart Multiple-Tap System Based on WiFi for reduction of Standby-Power

  • In this paper, we proposed a smart multiple-tap system which a remote user with smartphone can control multiple-taps in order to reduce standby-power consumption more conveniently when plugged-in electric appliances are turned-off. Recently, several researches of smart multiple-tap using IoT technology has reported. However, in these researches, an additional device like as a server computer is necessary, or multiple-taps could be only remotely controlled by smartphone and not directly controlled by on/off switch. The proposed smart multiple-tap system does not need any additional device only if it has a WiFi router, and it can be used for user as well as remote control using smartphone application and physically direct control using contact switches like existing multiple-taps. Our approach is to develop a smart multiple-tap device capable of WiFi communication can each serve as a server or a client, and can be operated by the hybrid switch combining the on/off contact switch and the relay switch. We implemented the prototype of the proposed system composed of the smart multiple-tap device and the smartphone application, and the test of the prototype validates the proposed system.

대도시 신호관제시스템의 효과 (A Overview and Effectiveness of the Computer Controlled Traffic Signal system at Seoul)

  • In order to improve the traffic enviroments in the urban streets of Seoul, the computer controlled traffic signal system was installed on 45 intersections at 1980. Afterward, yearly expansion was done to the numbers of 132 intersections and 232 loop detectors. The problems of timing plans were discussed, mainly pedestrian crossing timing as well as the generations of split and offset. The broad urban streets more than 30m require long phasing time of pedestrians, even though the equivalent or correspondent traffic volume is rare. The configuration of computer system for traffic control was disscussed in terms of control strategy. An overview also given. The improvements were measured at every quater. The travel speed improved to 42%, delay time reduced to 41% and number of stops to 43% respectively.

  • In this paper, we use a fuzzy algorithm to detect and diagnose the error which is caused by time delay of the computer-controlled system. Generally, a computer-controlled system is composed of computer and process. And they communicate the data each other. In data communication, error occurs by some reasons, such as noise, disturbance, hardware defect, etc. Time delay is one of the reasons. And time delay makes it difficult to distinguish whether the system really has a problem or not. Therefore, we need to detect and diagnose the error from time delay. For difficulty of modeling and ambiguity of classification, we use a fuzzy algorithm. To verify the better performance of the proposed algorithm, we exemplified by some simulation results.

유비쿼터스 개념 환경하에서 실제 현실 로봇 게임 구현 (Implementation of Real Reality Robot Game for Environment of Ubiquitous Concept)

  • In this paper, novel ubiquitous concept of real reality robot game controlled by a mobile server robot is proposed. Real reality robot game means that two real robots controlled by humans/computers through the internet are playing a boxing game. The mobile server robot captures playing images of the boxing game and sends them to GUI on the screen of human operators' PC. The human operator can login to the boxing game from any computer in any place if he/she is permitted. Remote control of a boxing robot by a motion capture system through network is implemented. Successful motion control of a boxing robot remotely controlled by a motion capture system through network can be achieved. In addition, real boxing games between a human and a computer are demonstrated.

Data-based Control for Linear Time-invariant Discrete-time Systems

  • This paper proposes a new framework for control system design, called the data-based control approach or data space approach, in which the input and output data of a dynamical system is directly and solely used to analyze or design a control system without the employment of any mathematical models like transfer functions, state space equations, and kernel representations. Since, in this approach, most of the analysis and design processes are carried out in the domain of the data space, we introduce some notions of geometrical objects, e.g., the openloop and closed-loop data spaces, which serve as the system representations in the data space. In addition, we establish a relationship between the open-loop and closed-loop data spaces that the closed-loop data space is contained in the open-loop data space as one of its subspaces. By using this relationship, we can derive the data-based stabilization condition for a linear time-invariant discrete-time system, which leads to a linear matrix inequality with a rank constraint.

  • Fuzzy control has been researched for application of industrial processes which have no accurate mathematical model and could not be controlled by conventional methods because of a lack of quantitative input-output data. Intelligent control approach based on fuzzy logic could directly reflex human thinking and natural language to controller comparing with conventional methods. In this paper, the tested system is constructed for sending a ball to the goal position using wind from two DC motors in the path. This system contains non-linearity and uncertainty because of the characteristic of aerodynamics inside the path. The system used in this experiment could be hardly modeled by mathematic methods and could not be easily controlled by linear control manners. The controller, in this paper could control the system containing non-linearity and uncertainty.

  • This paper presents the scheme that improves control responsibility and stability of the controlled-PM electromagnet levitation system with zero Power controller. A magnetically levitation system is used widely because friction can almost be disappeared. But it is difficult to control due to restraint of controllable area and nonlinear characteristics of electromagnetic force, which is proportioned to a square of the magnetic flux density and is in inverse proportion to a square of the air-gap. So, the application of observer theory in which the levitation system is considered to be a linear dynamic model has resulted in omitting the time dependence on mover's speed. Consequently, the performance of the observer is quite poor during transients. Therefore, this paper proposed the controlled-PM electro-magnetic levitation control method in which the variable load is estimated by using the reduced order extended luenverger observer and its system is controlled at a new zero power equilibrium air-gap position. It is also verified that the proposed control method improve the control performance through simulation and experiment.
