  • In this paper, we developed an automated program for the modeling and simulation of three-dimensional roller gear cam mechanisms. The three-dimensional modeling for a roller-gear cam employs coordinate transformations based on the con-tact condition. the wire frame modeling followed by the shading technique using triangular meshing elements incorporat-ed the to reduce the number of data and computational load. Computer simulations for two kinds of products for rollger-gear cam mechansim illustrate the relative motion between the modeled roller-gear cam and a turret and thus show the effectiveness of the proposed modeling.

  • In this study, to design aluminum scrap recycling equipment, fluid flow and thermal analysis considering electromagnetic phenomenon were carried out by using ANSYS program. The magnetic flux generated by electromagnetic pump has influence on fluid velocity of Al liquid metal with molten metal motion and thermal generation. To investigate the effect of the number of phase on fluid flow and thermal generation, electromagnetic force and magnetic flux were obtained by computer simulation. In addition, the results obtained by fluid flow and thermal analysis, recycling equipment of aluminum scrap with the cooling technology of electromagnetic coil, the most suitable phase and current were proposed.

  • The CAD model of a elliptical gear for wire cutting has been developed. The rolling contact of pitch ellipses whose rotation axes coincide with their focus has been analyzed, and the perimeter of the pitch ellipse has been divided into equal-length segments by the number of teeth. A master tooth profile, which is a composite curve of circular arcs that represents involute, has been introduced. The elliptical gear has been designed by imposing the master tooth on the divided points of the pitch ellipse, and a full fillet has been achieved between neighbour teeth. Thus, the whole profile of an elliptical gear is a composite curve of arcs only, and consequently NC codes for wire cutting can be easily generated. Furthermore, a computer simulation program is developed to verify the mesh of the elliptical gear.

  • In this paper, we study the classification of defects at steam generator tube in nuclear power plant using eddy current testing (ECT). We consider 4 defect patterns of SG tube: I-In type, I-Out type, V-In type, and V-Out type. Through numerical analysis program based on finite element modeling, 400 ECT signals are generated by varying width and depth of each defect type. In order to improve the classification performance, we propose new feature extraction technique. After extracting new features from the generated ECT signals, multi-layer perceptron is used to classify the defect patterns. Through the computer simulation study, it is shown that the proposed method achieves 100% classification success rate while the previous method yields 91% success rate.

  • This paper is an attempt at developing a method for the analysis and estimation of the effects of project disruptions due to uncertainties. Such uncertainties may result from design changes in large-scale, complex, research and development, or construction projects. An entropical risk analysis method is developed. The method is able to estimate the project capacity to handle equivocation due to design changes and the effects of project disruptions. In an attempt to evaluate the predictive capability of the method, it is compared with the results obtained by a computer Monte Carlo simulation program. It is shown that the entropical risk analysis method may be suggested as an expedient means of evaluating project status for management in the different stages of project execution.

  • A Microprocessor Based Digital Control System is inherently contained a control lag for processing the control program and a data detection time lag. This two types of time lag may cause the system to become unstable. In this paper proposed predictive state observer is used to solve the two time lag problems. I-P control algorithm is used to attain deadbeat response by adjusting the observer gain to overcome the parameter variation or with disturbance. The speed response shows good performance through computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a soft-switching current source inverter for photovoltaic power system, which has an H-type switched-capacitor module composed of two semiconductor switches, two diodes , and an L-C resonant circuit. The operation of proposed system was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and verified by computer simulations with SPICE. The feasibility of hardware implementation was verified by experimental works with a prototype. The proposed system could by effectively applied for the photovoltaic power system with high efficiency.

  • This paper presents a new numerical algorithm devoted to one window onto fault location calculation in time domain. It is based on two terminal data processing and it is derived on the synchronized phasor measured from the GPS connected the trans-mission line. The data is obtained by the testing through EMTP (Electromagnetic Tran- sient Program). The proposed the algorithm is estimated using linear least error squares method. The results of the algorithm testing through computer simulation (MATLAB) are presented.

  • A chevron rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for rail vehicle. The chevron spring support the load carried and reduces vibration and noise in operation of rail vehicle. The computer simulation using the nonlinear finite element analysis program MARC executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for the chevron spring. The appropriate shape and the material properties are proposed to adjust the required characteristics of chevron spring in the three modes of flexibility. Also, several samples of chevron spring are manufactured and experimented. It is shown that the predicted values agree well the results obtained from experiment.

  • The mathematical simulation of tow-dimensional hydrodynamic analysis in the bay was studied. The basic equations of the model consisted of the momentum equations and the continuity equation, and they were analysed by the finite difference method. The Leendertse's multi-operation method was used to solve the equations. For the numerical analysis, the computer program was made to get the velocity distribution was within the range of 10cm/sec and the currents were mainly in the north-south direction, which had a good agreement with the observed data. The methodological procedure made in this paper will provide a basic contribution to hydrodynamic study in the bay.
