  • An image processing techniques for image compression and its reconstruction are to be considered seriously for the generated huge size data as in the present multimedia environment based on the graphics. So far some approaches for this matter are proposed such as a Wavelet and JPEG method and got desirable result. In this paper, we have studied for the rms(root mean square) metric which is more effective than the existing sup(supremum)metric, and compared with sup metric by means of mathematical verification.

  • 최적해를 구하는 효과적인 방법 중 하나인 GA (Genetic Algorithm)은 높은 품질의 해를 구하기 위해서 많은 연산시간이 필요하지만, GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)의 높은 데이터 병렬처리 능력과 우수한 부동소수 연산능력을 이용하면 빠르게 처리 가능하다. 이 논문에서는 GPU를 이용하여 가속한 섬 기반의 RVGA (Real-Valued Genetic Algorithm)와 GPU를 이용하지 않는 RVGA를 비교하여 평가하였으며, 또한 GPU를 이용하지만 RVGA가 아닌 Simple GA인 경우와도 비교하여 평가 하였다. 그 결과, GPU를 이용한 경우 속도 향상을 할 수 있었으며, Simple GA보다 RVGA가 더 속도가 향상되었다.

  • 최근 임베디드 환경에서 2차인 Vector Graphics에 대한 요구는 크게 증가하고 있으며, Flash Lite, SVG등의 응용이 이미 널리 사용되고 있다. 반면 이러한 응용을 지원하기 위한 API의 표준은 전무한 실정이었다. OpenVG 1.0은 임베디드 시스템을 위한 미디어 표준 제정 기관인 Khronos Group에서 제정한 2차원 벡터 그래픽스를 위한 API (Application Programming Interface)로 2005년 8월 발표되었다. 본 논문에서는 OpenVG 표준에 대해 간략히 소개하고 (주)휴원에서 세계최초로 상용화 개발에 성공한 AlexVG Engine의 개발과정과 결과에 대하여 설명한다.

  • The branch of the laser imaging has implemented 3D graphics, color graphics and video images after it drew a simple image by development the salvo's X-Y scanner in 1960 year. Now it is used as the multimedia show of an event and an advertisement. The latest issue of laserist is the ability to generate laser images with the same ease and speed associated with traditional computer graphics. All laser projector used in the interior of a countris was imported from other country. The most important component of the laser projector is the speed and the accuracy of a actuator and the software which actuates the controller on computer. In this paper we developed the controller with a universal joint and the PC based user interface software in order to implement the laser image of two dimension, and will prepare the base of beginning the home laser projector

  • A particle system is defined as a collection of primitive particles that together represent irregular and ever-changing objects such as smoke, clouds, waterfalls, and explosions. A particle system can be a powerful tool for modeling a deformable object's motion and change of form since it has dynamic properties with time. As an object becomes more complicated and shows more chaotic behavior, however, we need much more parameters for describing its characteristics completely. Consequently, the conventional particle system leads to difficulty in managing all of the parameters properly since one parameter can affect the others. Moreover, motion equations for representing particles' behavior are usually approximated to gain speed-ups. The inevitable errors in calculating the equations can cause an unexpected outcome. In this paper, we present a new approach of applying fuzzy contol to mage particles' motion and attributes changes over time. We also give an implementation result of a fuzzy particle system to show the feasibility of the proposed method. Applications of the system to explosions, nebulae, volcanos, and grass are presented.

  • This paper presents a new CIP method for unstructured mesh to reduce the numerical dissipation. To reflect precise physical characteristics, CIP method updates both the physical quantity and the derivative information. The proposed method uses the Finite Volume Method(FVM) to solve the non-advection term of CIP equation. And we performed several experiments to improve the accuracy of third-order interpolation. Our result shows that our algorithm has less numerical dissipation than that of linear advection solver.

  • There are many analysis formulas for determining the resultant shear force in welds. However, there is no general procedure which is applicable to a joint with all six possible loadings exerted simultaneously. A numerical methodology and computer program for such a problem were developed, and they are capable of analyzing a weld of any shape composed of straight or circular line segments. The computer program developed in this study can also display the design procedures and results using computer graphics. The development of such a design procedure and an interactive computer program for weldments analysis will lead to lower cost.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider how to restructure the university geometry curriculum and contents in terms of applications to theoretical computer science. We analyzed various topics from computer graphics, CAGD(computer aided geometric design) and computational geometry suitable for geometry students interested in applications. Moreover we discussed about selections of topics for several cases.

Computing Intersection between Freeform Surfaces (자유곡면 간의 교차곡선 계산)

  • 본 논문에서는 자유곡면 간의 교차곡선이 갖는 위상 구조를 분석하는 방법을 제시하며, 또한 이를 이용하여 교차곡선을 효율적이고 안정적으로 계산하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 자유곡면 간의 교차곡선 계산은 현재까지 난문제로 알려져 있으며, 그러한 가장 큰 원인 중의 하나로서 교차곡선의 위상 구조를 분석하기 어렵다는 점을 들 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 입력으로 주어지는 자유곡면 중의 하나가 매개변수 곡면 F(u, v) 이라는 가정 하에 음함수 곡면 g(x, y, z) = 0 과의 교차곡선, 그리고 또 다른 매개변수 곡면 G(s, t)와의 교차곡선 계산방법을 제시한다. 교차곡선은 uv-평면 상의 평면 곡선으로 고려되며, 이 평면곡선에서 u-방향에 대한 극점(critical point)을 먼저 계산한 뒤 이를 이용하여 위상구조를 분석한다. 또한, 분석된 위상구조를 기반으로 전체 교차곡선을 추적(tracing)하는 알고리즘을 제시한다.
