  • With the development of the virtual community, the benefits that IT technology provides to people in fields such as healthcare, industry, communication, and culture are increasing, and the quality of life is also improving. Accordingly, there are various malicious attacks targeting the developed network environment. Firewalls and intrusion detection systems exist to detect these attacks in advance, but there is a limit to detecting malicious attacks that are evolving day by day. In order to solve this problem, intrusion detection research using machine learning is being actively conducted, but false positives and false negatives are occurring due to imbalance of the learning dataset. In this paper, a Random Oversampling method is used to solve the unbalance problem of the UNSW-NB15 dataset used for network intrusion detection. And through experiments, we compared and analyzed the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, training and prediction time, and hardware resource consumption of the models. Based on this study using the Random Oversampling method, we develop a more efficient network intrusion detection model study using other methods and high-performance models that can solve the unbalanced data problem.

  • In this study, we developed a system to dynamically balance a daily stock portfolio and performed trading simulations using gradient boosting and genetic algorithms. We collected various stock market data from stocks listed on the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, including investor-specific transaction data. Subsequently, we indexed the data as a preprocessing step, and used feature engineering to modify and generate variables for training. First, we experimentally compared the performance of three popular gradient boosting algorithms in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, including XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost. Based on the results, in a second experiment, we used a LightGBM model trained on the collected data along with genetic algorithms to predict and select stocks with a high daily probability of profit. We also conducted simulations of trading during the period of the testing data to analyze the performance of the proposed approach compared with the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices in terms of the CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate), MDD (Maximum Draw Down), Sharpe ratio, and volatility. The results showed that the proposed strategies outperformed those employed by the Korean stock market in terms of all performance metrics. Moreover, our proposed LightGBM model with a genetic algorithm exhibited competitive performance in predicting stock price movements.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to build a sample dataset of the features of eight sensor-only facilities built as infrastructure for autonomous cooperative driving. The feature extracted from point cloud data acquired by LiDAR and build them into the sample dataset for recognizing the facilities. In order to build the dataset, eight sensor-only facilities with high-brightness reflector sheets and a sensor acquisition system were developed. To extract the features of facilities located within a certain measurement distance from the acquired point cloud data, a cylindrical projection method was applied to the extracted points after applying DBSCAN method for points and then a modified OTSU method for reflected intensity. Coordinates of 3D points, projected coordinates of 2D, and reflection intensity were set as the features of the facility, and the dataset was built along with labels. In order to check the effectiveness of the facility dataset built based on LiDAR data, a common CNN model was selected and tested after training, showing an accuracy of about 90% or more, confirming the possibility of facility recognition. Through continuous experiments, we will improve the feature extraction algorithm for building the proposed dataset and improve its performance, and develop a dedicated model for recognizing sensor-only facilities for autonomous cooperative driving.

  • While the demand for extrapolating video content horizontally or vertically is increasing, even the most advanced techniques cannot successfully extrapolate all videos. Therefore, it is important to determine if a given video can be well extrapolated before attempting the actual extrapolation. This can help avoid wasting computing resources. This paper proposes a video classifier that can identify if a video is suitable for horizontal extrapolation. The classifier utilizes optical flow and an adaptive Gaussian blur network, which can be applied to flow-based video extrapolation methods. The labeling for training was rigorously conducted through user tests and quantitative evaluations. As a result of learning from this labeled dataset, a network was developed to determine the extrapolation capability of a given video. The proposed classifier achieved much more accurate classification performance than methods that simply use the original video or fixed blur alone by effectively capturing the characteristics of the video through optical flow and adaptive Gaussian blur network. This classifier can be utilized in various fields in conjunction with automatic video extrapolation techniques for immersive viewing experiences.

  • Background : Computer- and web-based simulation methods help students develop problem solving and decision making skills. In addition, they provide reality based learning to the student clinical experience with immediate medical feedback as well as repetitive training, on-site reviews and case closure. Materials and Methods : Seventy-five third-year medical students participated in a two-week simulation program. The students selected four modules from eight modules as follows: airway and breathing 1, cardiac arrest 1, cardiac arrhythmia 1, and chest pain 1, and then selected the first case within each of the modules. After 2 weeks, a pass score was obtained and the data analyzed. The average pass score of over 70% was considered a passing grade for each module. If the student did not pass each module, there was no score (i.e., pass score was zero). In addition, when at least one of the four modules was zero, the student was not included in this study. Results : Seventy-five students participated in the simulation program. Nineteen students were excluded based on their performance. The final number of students studied was 56 students (74.7%). The average scores for each module 1 to 4 were 86.7%, 85.3%, 84.0%, and 84.0%, and the average obtained pass score was 88.6 for the four modules in all 56 students. Conclusion : Medical simulation enabled students to experience realistic patient situations as part of medical learning. However, it has not been incorporated into traditional educational methodology. Here we describe the introduction and the development of various simulation modules and technologies for medical education.

  • In the medical field, disease diagnosis and prediction research using artificial intelligence technology is being actively conducted. It is being released as a variety of products for disease diagnosis and prediction, which are most widely used in the application of artificial intelligence technology based on medical images. Artificial intelligence is being applied to diagnose diseases, to classify diseases into benign and malignant, and to separate disease regions for use in identification or reading according to the risk of disease. Recently, in connection with cloud technology, its utility as a service product is increasing. Among the diseases dealt with in this paper, liver disease is a disease with very high risk because it is difficult to diagnose early due to the lack of pain. Artificial intelligence technology was introduced based on medical images as a non-invasive diagnostic method for diagnosing these diseases. We describe the development of a web service to help the most meaningful clinical reading of liver cirrhosis patients. Then, it shows the web service process and shows the operation screen of each process and the final result screen. It is expected that the proposed service will be able to diagnose liver cirrhosis at an early stage and help patients recover through rapid treatment.

  • Sea Surface Temperature (SST), one of the ocean features, has a significant impact on climate, marine ecosystem and human activities. Therefore, SST prediction has been always an important issue. Recently, deep learning has drawn much attentions, since it can predict SST by training past SST patterns. Compared to the numerical simulations, deep learning model is highly efficient, since it can estimate nonlinear relationships between input data. With the recent development of Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in computer, large amounts of data can be calculated repeatedly and rapidly. In this study, Short-term SST will be predicted through Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based U-Net that can handle spatiotemporal data concurrently and overcome the drawbacks of previously existing deep learning-based models. The SST prediction performance depends on the seasonal and interannual SST variabilities around the southern coast of Korea. The predicted SST has a wide range of variance during spring and summer, while it has small range of variance during fall and winter. A wide range of variance also has a significant correlation with the change of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) index. These results are found to be affected by the intensity of the seasonal and PDO-related interannual SST fronts and their intensity variations along the southern Korean seas. This study implies that the SST prediction performance using the developed deep learning model can be significantly varied by seasonal and interannual variabilities in SST.

  • In this paper, actual drone noise samples are collected for speech processing in disaster environments to build noise-corrupted speech database, and speech enhancement performance is evaluated by applying spectrum subtraction and mask-based speech enhancement techniques. To improve the performance of VoiceFilter (VF), an existing deep neural network-based speech enhancement model, we apply the Self-Attention operation and use the estimated noise information as input to the Attention model. Compared to existing VF model techniques, the experimental results show 3.77%, 1.66% and 0.32% improvements for Source to Distortion Ratio (SDR), Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ), and Short-Time Objective Intelligence (STOI), respectively. When trained with a 75% mix of speech data with drone sounds collected from the Internet, the relative performance drop rates for SDR, PESQ, and STOI are 3.18%, 2.79% and 0.96%, respectively, compared to using only actual drone noise. This confirms that data similar to real data can be collected and effectively used for model training for speech enhancement in environments where real data is difficult to obtain.
