This paper investigates effects of rubber inclusion on the strength and physical characteristics of rubber.added composite geomaterial (CGM) in which dredged soils, crumb rubber, and bottom ash are reused for recycling. Several series of test specimens were prepared at 5 different percentages of rubber content (i.e. 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% by weight of the dry dredged soil) and three different percentages of bottom ash content (i.e. 0%, 50% and 100% by weight of the dry dredged soil). The mixed soil specimens were subjected to unconfined compression test and elastic wave test to investigate their unconfined compressive strengths and small strain properties. The values of bulk unit weight of the CGM with bottom ash content of 0% and 100% decrease from 14kN/$m^3$ to 11kN/$m^3$ and 15kN/$m^3$ to 12kN/$m^3$, respectively, as rubber content increases, because the rubber had a specific gravity of 1.13. The test results indicated that the rubber content and bottom ash content were found to influence the strength and stress-strain behavior of CGM. Overall, the unconfined compressive strength, and shear modulus were found to decrease with increasing rubber content. Among the samples tested in this study, those with a lower rubber content exhibited sand-like behavior and a higher shear modulus. Samples with a higher rubber content exhibited rubber-like behavior and a lower shear modulus. The CGM with 100% bottom ash could be used as alternative backfill material better than CGM with 0% bottom ash. The results of elastic wave tests indicate that the higher rubber content, the lower shear modulus (G).
In order to investigate mechanics of mixtures composed of sand and non-plastic silt, various specimens, with sand dominating the soil structure, and with varying fines content, fines content varying were produced. Isotropic consolidation tests were performed using high pressure triaxial test apparatus within high pressure levels where sand grain crushing happened. Experimental results showed that compressive curve of sand after yielding contracts to the NCL due to breakage of sand grains. Moreover, with the increase of fines content, coarse grains are surrounded by fines to form cushion effect, which made the breakage of coarse grains become difficult. Therefore, the maximum inclination of compressive curve became flatter and yield stress increased.
This paper investigates the shear properties of bottom ash-crumb rubber mixture reinforced with waste fishing net. Mixtures used in this experiment were prepared at 2 different percentages of crumb rubber (2 mm~10 mm) content (i.e., 0%, 50% by weight of the dry bottom ash). In this study several series of triaxial tests were carried out on the six different specimens : unreinforced bottom ash, reinforced bottom ash with 1 or 2 layers, unreinforced mixture, reinforced mixture with 1 or 2 layers. The experimental results indicated that the shear properties of bottom ash-crumb rubber mixture were strongly influenced by reinforcing layer of waste fishing net and crumb rubber addition. It is shown that the internal friction angle of bottom ash-crumb rubber mixture decrease with addition of crumb rubber due to the compression properties of crumb rubber. However, the internal friction angle of the mixture increased with an increase in reinforcing layer due to interlocking effect and friction between mixture and waste fishing net.
From the time the product is manufactured until it is carried and ultimately used, the product is subjected to some form of handling and transportations. During this process, the product can be subjected to many potential hazards. One of them is the damage caused by shocks. In order to design a product-package system to protect the product, the peak acceleration or G force to the product that causes damage needs to be determined. When a corrugated fiberboard box loaded with products is dropped onto the ground, part of the energy acquired due to the action of the gravitational acceleration during the free fall is dissipated in the product and the package in various ways. The shock absorbing characteristics of the packaging cushion materials are presented as a family of cushion curves in which curves showing peak accelerations during impacts for a range of static loads are shown for several drop heights. The new method for determining the shock absorbing characteristics of cushioning materials for protective packaging has been described and demonstrated. It has been shown that cushion curves can be produced by combining the static compression and impact characteristics of the material. The dynamic factor was determined by the iterative least mean squares (ILMS) optimization technique in which the discrepancies between peak acceleration data predicted from the theoretical model and obtained from the impact tests are minimized. The approach enabled an efficient determination of cushion curves from a small number of experimental impact data.
The hot deformation behavior of Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo(Ti6246) alloy was investigated in both the $\alpha$+$\beta$ and $\beta$-phase fields by conducting compression tests over a strain rate range of $10^{-3}s^{-1}$ to $10^0s^{-1}$. The flow stress was increased with increasing strain rate and decreasing test temperature. The flow curves obtained at temperatures below 90$0^{\circ}C$ exhibited a flow softening. However, in the $\beta$-phase field, above 95$0^{\circ}C$, the flow stress increased monotonically with plastic strain approaching steady state values. Constitutive equations for the dependence of flow stress on strain, strain rate, and temperature were developed through the analysis of the flow curves.
When natural rubber is used for a long period of time, it becomes aged; it usually becomes hardened and loses its damping capability. This aging process affects not only the material property but also the (fatigue) life of natural rubber. In this paper the aging effects on the material property and the fatigue life were experimentally investigated. In addition, several fatigue life prediction equations for natural rubber were proposed. In order to investigate the aging effects on the material property, the load-stretch ratio curves were plotted from the results of the tensile test, the compression test and the simple shear test for virgin and heat-aged rubber specimens. Rubber specimens were heat-aged in an oven at a temperature ranging from $50^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ for a period ranging from 2 days to 16 days. In order to investigate the aging effects on the fatigue life, fatigue tests were conducted for differently heat-aged hourglass-shaped and simple shear specimens. Moreover, finite element simulations were conducted for the specimens to calculate physical quantities occurring in the specimens such as the maximum value of the effective stress, the strain energy density, the first invariant of the Cauchy-Green deformation tensor and the maximum principal nominal strain. Then, four fatigue life prediction equations based on one of the physical quantities could be obtained by fitting the equations to the test data. Finally, the fatigue life of a rubber bush used in an automobile was predicted by using the prediction equations, and it was compared with the test data of the bush to evaluate the reliability of those equations.

The Water glass grouting method has been applied frequently to penetration grouting in practice, but some problems, such as decrease of durability with the elapsed time and environmentally adverse effect, are raised recently. Hence, the Earth Natural Grouting method which uses micro cement and inorganic material is developed to overcomes those problems of the water glass grouting method, and is aimed for extensive ground injection bound. Volumetric strain test, syneresis test, unconfined compression test, triaxial permeability test, in-situ permeability test and heavy metal analysis were conducted to verify application of the ENG. As the result of tests, volumetric strain, syneresis and unconfined strength of the ENG were superior to those of the Water Glass SGR and ENG was proved to be impermeable. Also it is expected that the ENG would not have an effect on environmental pollution.
In order to recycle both water sludge and waste fishing net(WFN), it was investigated in this paper the engineering characteristics of mixtures that consisted of different content of water sludge(0%, 10%, 30%, 50%) and reinforced with waste fishing net(unreinforced, untreated WFN, glue treated WFN). WFN or glue treated WFN(1&2 layers) was also added to the mixture to improve the interlocking between the soil particle and WFN. Several series of laboratory tests such as compaction test, triaxial test, oedometer test, permeability test and leaching test were carried out. The experimental test results indicated that, as water sludge content increases, maximum dry unit weight, cohesion, friction angle, and permeability of the mixture decrease, while optimum moisture content, compression index, expansion index and compressibility increase. For the case of reinforced mixture, its cohesion and friction angle are increased due to the inclusion of WFN and glue treated WFN. Leaching result of mixture was satisfied with standard of ministry of environment.

Divinycell, which functions as both insulation and a supporting structure, is generally applied in the NO96-type liquefied natural gas (LNG) insulation system. Polymer-material-based Divinycell, which has a high strength and low weight, has been widely used in the offshore, transportation, wind power generation, and civil engineering fields. In particular, this type of material receives attention as an insulation material because its thermal conductivity can be lowered depending on the ambient temperature. However, it is difficult to obtain research results for Divinycell, even though the component materials of the NO96-type LNG cargo containment system, such as 36% nickel steel (invar steel), plywood, perlite, and glass wool, have been extensively studied and reported. In the present study, temperature and strain-rate dependent compressive tests on Divinycell were performed. Both the quantitative experimental data and elastic recovery are discussed. Finally, the mechanical characteristics of Divinycell were compared to the results of polyurethane foam insulation material.

Soil is the fundamental element in the construction process. Soil problems affect the safety of the structures, even so the high quality of the structures and so, bad soil found the structures will affect the lifetime or even destroy the structures built on it. Therefore, the study of soil is an important step in the construction process and the investigation of the most effective characteristics of a special kind of soil (shale soil), i.e. Atterberg limits, swelling pressure, swelling potential and unconfined compression strength, are the most effective soil properties. A big projects will be constructed in new urban extension areas with expansive shale soils, like at Al-Kawamil and new Akhmim shale soils which associated with soil problems, treatment system should be used to ensure the stability of the soil under the structures foundations one of the most effective methods is by adding lime solution to the soil by specific quantities, which affect on the properties of the shale soil by decreasing the swelling and increasing the compressive strength of the treatment soils. Experimenting with the soil added to the lime, it was found that the addition of lime solution 6% improve c j the properties of the soil. The results of the tests showed the high effectiveness of using lime in the treatment of Al-Kawamil soil
