  • Background: Uncontrolled lumbopelvic movement leads to asymmetric symptoms and causes pain in the lumbar and pelvic regions. So many patients have uncontrolled lumbopelvic movement. Passive support devices are used for unstable lumbopelvic patient. So, we need to understand that influence of passive support on lumbopelvic stability. It is important to examine that using the pelvic belt on abdominal muscle activity, pelvic rotation and pelvic tilt. Objects: This study observed abdominal muscle activity, pelvic rotation and tilt angles were compared during active straight leg raise (ASLR) with and without pelvic compression belt. Methods: Sixteen healthy women were participated in this study. ASRL with and without pelvic compression belt was performed for 5 sec, until their leg touched the target bar that was set 20 cm above the base. Surface electromyography was recorded from rectus abdominis (RA), internal oblique abdominis (IO), and external oblique abdominis (EO) bilaterally. And pelvic rotation and tilt angles were measured by motion capture system. Results: There were significantly less activities of left EO (p=.042), right EO (p=.031), left IO (p=.039), right IO (p=.019), left RA (p=.044), and right RA (p=.042) and a greater right pelvic rotation angle (p=.008) and anterior pelvic tilt angle (p<.001) during ASLR with pelvic compression belt. Conclusion: These results showed that abdominal activity was reduced while the right pelvic rotation angle and anterior pelvic tilt angle were increased during ASLR with a pelvic compression belt. In other words, although pelvic compression belt could support abdominal muscle activity, it would be difficult to control pelvic movement. So pelvic belt would not be useful for controlled ASLR.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the effects of the application of ankle pumping exercise versus elastic compression stockings for the women lower leg edema and pain due to continuous standing work. Methods: The participants were 20 women with leg edema and pain, divided into two group, 10 ankle exercise group and elastic compression stockings group. Low leg circumference were measured before and after work. Ankle pumping exercise group, elastic compression stockings were divided into groups, individual working one week during the arbitration to arbitration and work around the legs before and after retesting were compared before and after arbitration. Arbitration to stop and keep the information a week after the re-measurement of intervention before and after the arbitration and the degree of intervention were maintained. Statistical methods before and after working around the average value of each the legs was repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The participants had edema and leg problems because of their work. The ankle pumping exercise gorup and elastic compression stockings group showed statistically decrease in leg circumference value. there was no statistically value about the lasting effect of intervention after 1 week. Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that the application of elastic compression stockings and ankle pumping exercises during the hours of work is effective the relief of edema of lower extremity.

  • The present study aimed to find out how the trunk muscles, which are mainly used in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, affect chest compression through plank exercise. Study subjects participated in a 12-week program, and subjects performed only chest compressions for 8 minutes. Regarding their change in a muscle mass by plank exercise, there was a statistically significant difference in the change from 4th to 8th week after the program(p<.01). The muscle activity change had a statistically significant difference from 3rd to 10th week(p<.01). The chest compression depth had a statistically significant difference from 4th to 8th week(p<.01). In addition, insufficient chest relaxation height after compression had a statistically significant difference from 4th to 10th week(p<.01). The chest compression maintenance time had a statistically significant difference from 2nd to 12th week(p<.01). The participants' muscle mass and muscle activity increased more after their participation in plank exercise program than before. All chest compression factors except for chest compression rate brought about positive results.

  • A series of laboratory tests, which can show how different curing conditions influence an aging effect on clay, were carried out for the clay samples collected in the area of Kwangyang Bay and Mokpo. Clay samples were remolded and reconsolidated under three different curing temperatures (20, 50, and 80 degree Celsius) and low different curing durations (1, 7, 14, and 40 days). To find out an aging effect and geotechnical characteristics between undisturbed samples and reconsolidated samples, laboratory tests, consisting of uniaxial compression tests, CU triaxial test, and consolidation tests, were preformed. Results showed that the compression index ratio is very useful factor to indicate the aging effect of natural clays. Also geotechnical characteristics of clays reconsolidated at high temperature were very similar to those of undisturbed clays. Finally, curing temperature and curing duration influenced an aging effect on clays. The best curing condition was 80 degree Celsius and 27 days.

  • Purpose: Venous stasis ulcer is the most severe form of chronic venous insufficiency and this commonly appears in the lower limb. Pharmacological therapy, reconstruction of the venous system, surgical management, cellular therapy and compression therapy are known as the treatments of venous stasis ulcer, but relapses are common, which make it a typical chronic wound. We report here on a case of recurrent venous stasis ulcer that healed with compression therapy without any other treatment. Methods: A 35-year-old man with a 13 years history of venous stasis had developed an ulcer on the distal third portion of the lower left limb which was developed 12-year before enrollment in this study. He had been treated with vacuum assist closure, 2 times of cell therapy and 3 times of skin graft for 8 years, but the lesion recurred. From November, 2008 compression therapy was done with the 3M $Coban^{TM}$ 2 Layer Compression System (3M, St. Paul, USA). The ulcer at that time was oval shaped and $3{\times}4$ cm in size. A comfort layer bandage was applied from the proximal phalanx of the great toe to the knee. A compression layer bandage was applied on the previous layer with it being overlapped one half the width of the comfort layer bandage. The dressing was changed every 4 days and the change was recorded with photography. Results: A total of 12 $Coban^{TM}$ 2 Layer Compression Systems were used. The size of the ulcer decreased to $2.5{\times}2.5$ cm in one month, to $2{\times}2$ cm in 2 months, it was $1{\times}1.8$ cm in size at 3 months and it completely healed in 4 months. Conclusion: The venous stasis ulcer was completely healed using the 3M $Coban^{TM}$ 2 Layer Compression System. This method was easy to apply, made the patient comfortable and it provided an excellent compression effect. As in the previous studies, this compression therapy has been proven to play an important role for the treatment and prevention of venous stasis ulcer.

  • Mechanical properties of the apple flesh were tested with compression test apparatus constructed by this study. The computer program was developed for measuring mechanical properties, and analyzing data obtained from the study. Compression tests on the apple flesh were performed at four levels of specimen diameter, three levels of specimen length, and at constant loading rate(25mm/min). Five replications were made at each treatment combination. Effect of specimen size on the mechanical properties of the apple flesh was investigated.

  • This paper proposes a moving image compression algorithm using subband coding that divides and processes the differential image of each moving image frame into subband frequency. This method decomposes the original image with each subband and performs DCT. The moving blocks are detected from each of wubband using threshold value which is select from the variance of difference between frames. then they are performed SBDCT and huffman coding in order to reduce the data. As the result of simulation, we confirmed that this method improved the blocking effect of reconstructed image in low bit rate.

  • In order to predict the effect of power amplifier non-linearity for digital modulated signal, this paper analyses the adjacent channel power ratio(ACPR) with the various AM-to-PM distortion levels. As the phase distortion increases from 0$^{\circ}$ to 12$^{\circ}$ at 1㏈compression point by 2.4$^{\circ}$ step, the input power level which satisfies the required ACPR decreases from 3.5㏈ to 6.5㏈ less than the 1㏈ compression input power.
