  • Purpose: The main objective of this research is to construct an AI-based Composite Supplementary Index (ACSI) model to achieve accurate predictions of the Composite Index of Business Indicators. By incorporating various economic indicators as independent variables, the ACSI model enables the prediction and analysis of both the leading index (CLI) and coincident index (CCI). Methods: This study proposes an AI-based Composite Supplementary Index (ACSI) model that leverages diverse economic indicators as independent variables to forecast leading and coincident economic indicators. To evaluate the model's performance, advanced machine learning techniques including MLP, RNN, LSTM, and GRU were employed. Furthermore, the study explores the potential of employing deep learning models to train the weights associated with the independent variables that constitute the composite supplementary index. Results: The experimental results demonstrate the superior accuracy of the proposed composite supple- mentary index model in predicting leading and coincident economic indicators. Consequently, this model proves to be highly effective in forecasting economic cycles. Conclusion: In conclusion, the developed AI-based Composite Supplementary Index (ACSI) model successfully predicts the Composite Index of Business Indicators. Apart from its utility in management, economics, and investment domains, this model serves as a valuable indicator supporting policy-making and decision-making processes related to the economy.

  • This paper aims to investigate the characteristics of braided thermoplastic composite and pressure relief for polymer arrester. In general, braided composite has potential for improved impact and delamination resistance. Manufacturing processes of the braided composite could also be automated and could potentially lead to lower costs. Therefore, in consideration of characteristics of pressure relief for polymer arrester, the fabric pattern of braided composite was decided. And polymer arrester module was manufactured with braid.

  • This study performs a series of Triaxial Compression Test for clay-sand composite specimens changing area replacement ratio. Purpose of the test is to conform the propriety of weighted average method in estimating shear strength of the composite ground. The test results show that measured values of shear strength of composite specimens are larger by 20∼30% than those from estimation using the current weighted average method. It is thought that the differences are from pseudo-overconsolidation behavior of composite specimens.

  • This paper presents a study on the permittivities of the carbon nano fiber/epoxy composite at microwave frequency. The permittivities of composite materials depend on the concentrations and the dispersion methods of the carbon nano fibers. The experimental values of complex permittivities were obtained for the specimen made by dispersion method using ethyl alcohol as dispersion media and compared with the results by simple mechanical mixing method.

  • Recently, the friction and wear behaviors of UHMWPE, ceramic and metal is being researched actively for the use as an artificial hip-joint. In this study, because of good wear properties of carbon fiber, we made experiments about the friction and wear of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite under the lubricative and the dry condition. The possibilities of carbon-carbon composite for the artificial hip joint application was studied from this results.

  • Stress and deflection of Active Fiber Composite(AFC) embedded and/or attached composite structures are numerically investigated at the constituent level by the Direct Numerical Simulation(DNS). The DNS approach which models and simulates the fiber and matrix directly using 3D finite elements need to be solved by efficient way. To handle this large scale problem, parallel program for solving piezoelectric behavior was developed and run on the parallel computing environment. Also, the stress result from DNS approach is compared with that from uniform field model.

  • Carbon/Epoxy composite specimens formed with buttress groves are fabricated. The buttress form of groove is useful in any application where high shear loads are transferred in one direction between structural components. It is a primary object of the present study to test and evaluate the shear load carrying capability of a carbon/epoxy composite structure with buttress grooves for military applications

  • Due to many advantage of advanced composite material, research on the composite compression member is initiated. In this paper structural characteristics of concrete filled glass fiber reinforced composite tubular member is studied. Through 4-point flexural test with various level of axial force, the performance of composite compression member was analyzed. Also numerical method to find P-M diagram of composite compression member was developed. It is demonstrated that result of numerical method agree well with experimental results.

  • Composite sabot can increase the penetration performance of APFSDS projectile by reduction of the sabot weight. However, it has a thick-sectioned lamination and the lamination structure is different from those of the conventional composite parts. In this study, modeling technique for a thick and radially-laminated composite part has been applied in the finite element analysis of composite sabot. Four models of composite lamination for the sabot have been proposed and evaluated for their structural strength.

  • Two-way shape memory effect(TWSME) under residual stresses are considered in the present study. The structure using two-way shape memory effect concept returns to its initial shape by increasing or decreasing temperature under the initially given residual stress. In the present study, we use a thermo-mechanical constitutive equation of SMA and laminated composite beam are considered as simple morphing structural components which are based on large deformable 2D composite beam theory. Numerical results of fully coupled SMA-composite structures are presented.
