The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of provider and consumer characteristics, and patient trust on relational commitment among healthcare customers of an university hospital, and to suggest some implications for improving customer relation management of hospitals. Data were collected from 250 patients of an university hospital located in Ulsan using structured self-administered questionnaire. Major result of the analysis is as follows: First, study variables are significantly varied by age and income among socio-economic factors. Second, assurance, and empathy among provider characteristics and customer satisfaction and reputation among consumer characteristics are found to be significant affecting factors on patient trust. Third, trust affects significantly both on re-visit and recommendation among relationship commitment, while reputation affects on re-visit and customer satisfaction and reputation affect on recommendation. Above results imply that relationship management strategy for enhancing patient trust is crucial to improve competitiveness of hospitals in turbulent competition environment.

This paper analyzes subjects related to Math/Stat and studies teaching effect on subject development connected Math/Stat in software curriculum. Among many subjects related to the software, this paper shows exemplary applications of Math/Stat in the software curriculum. Thereby this opens potential application fields of Math/Stat. This confirms that Math/Stat is not only an essential subject to improve competitiveness but also a strategic element in the field of software. Therefore, by maximizing the academic outcome through the interdisciplinary combination of software and Math/Stat, it is possible to educate more competitive and skilled professionals.

There are many new technologies for EMU to secure the facilities' safety/validity and maintenance/economical efficiency and technologic competitiveness. For example, now the EMU is using the blending brake technology with electric brake and pneumatic brake and carrying the various performances such as jerk limitation, variable load and blending brake to stop the motor car safely and efficiently. The blending brake takes important parts in braking the cars and It is used in many fields of urban transit. There were many limitations to carry the performances and certificate whether the performances are acceptable in the system or not, because at that time they didn't take the whole prelieminarly inspection. Now we start applying such new methods, taking the whole inspection prior to the installation by analyzing systems requirements and introducing various system engineering design tools. In this paper, we suggest how to reduce the errors by prelieminarly inspection for the brake facilities using the tools and inspect the needs to analyze the brake facilities' performances.

Objective : To build a basis of a research strategy for development of Korean ginseng as a global competitive medical product in the world market by Korean Oriental medicine group. Methods : Survey of all literature or analysis reports about market patterns related to ginseng or ginseng products in Korea and in other countries. Results : Korean ginseng and it products have rapidly decreased in share of the world market since the 1980s, with Korean ginseng occupying just 3% of the Hong Kong ginseng market in 2005. While Korean ginseng has been satisfied with consumption within the large Korean market itself, it now has only 1% of world market share. Conclusion : A systematic strategy is needed to strengthen global competitiveness of Korean ginseng based upon development of novel customer-tailored ginseng products. In addition, experience and science-based research in the Oriental medicine field should be involved in the process.

Trade Portal Site(TPS) is one of the essential tools which can make it possible for small and medium enterprises(SMEs) to perform international trade activity more efficiently using newest information and communication technology including the Internet. Therefore, Korean SMEs need to utilize TPS more actively to enhance their export competitiveness. In this context, this article analyzes the determinants of export performances of Korean SMEs in utilizing the service of TPS based on the Service Quality Model. As a result of an empirical research by using regressive analysis, various measures of service reliability such as reliability, empathy, and tangibilities have positive effects on SMEs export performance in utilizing TPS. These results provides many useful implications to the TPS managers, e-trade related government agency, along with managers of SMEs using TPS.

This paper investigates and selects the areas that need to be improved in R&D and production management of small and medium size companies. The study on the capability of R&D and production management shows that the areas for evaluating of the R&D and production management levels are composed of 8 elements : R&D resource, R&D support and experience, long-term operations strategy, intermediate range planning, short-term planning, subcontractor management, logistics and inventory management, and quality management. The investigation of the gap between the importance of the areas and the capability of SMEs shows that the most important things are to consolidate supply chain, to improve product and process competitiveness using quality improvement, and to enhance production management through sophisticated short-term planning. The detailed analysis also shows that the areas that need to be improved depend on the size and sales of the company.

This paper empirically investigates the impact of winning a quality award by investigating the rate of return of a firm's stock in the stock market, and by analyzing the contribution and effectiveness to a firm's competitiveness. It also compares the effect of firms winning MB(Malcolm Baldrige) award with that of firms winning Korean quality awards on the stock market. A comparative method is used to analyze the change of award-winning firms'rate of return and then they are classified by time-series, cross-sectional, firm's size, award agency, and the year of receiving the award. The number of firms employed in this study is 74, however, multiple award-winning firms are included in the analysis, which increased the sample size to 118. Results indicate that Korean quality awards improve an award-winning firms'market value but not as much as the MB award did.

The 21st century is called “an era of creation” or “an era of speed.” These are flat expressions requiring a fierce competition between individuals, corporations and nations. In a reality in which we should make new things continuously within a short period of time, the world best benchmarking can become a good alternative. The world best practice can be called “a mode of operation” that has created the world's best performance in a particular field of managerial activities. It is very meaningful for the nations' corporations, which have a lower competitiveness than world-class ones and weak points in the area of human resources development, in particular, to benchmark the world-class corporations' best practices of HRD. Therefore, this study is conducted in conformity with a model of the Instructional Systems Designs for the Total Quality Education that brings the structure of the world-class corporations' best practices of HRD into line with that of the Total Quality Management. That is, analysis, design, development, implementation and assessment are included in this study.
