Development of a Competency-Based Master Gardener Coordinator Curriculum: Focusing on Public Service Rural Extension Workers

  • The purpose of this study was to establish the role of master gardener coordinators and develop an education program to enhance their job competencies. To analyze and develop the new job of master gardener coordinator, we used the CBC method for curriculum development. The research findings can be summarized as follows. The analysis result of need and importance of education based on the performance level and demand level revealed 20 core competencies, which were classified into organizational education, learning by experience, individual learning, low-priority competencies for program development, with focus on the importance and need for education. The 17 courses are comprised of Eastern and Western Garden History, Understanding of Community Garden, Garden Aesthetics and Environmental Design, Master Gardener's Mission & Management, Garden Plants, and Garden Design and Practice etc. and the curriculum is 33 hours in total. The master gardener coordinator education program was conducted on 73 rural extension workers and the curriculum was evaluated by those who completed the program. The overall satisfaction was 4.29 and 97.1% of the trainees decided that the program would help them perform their duties. The analysis result discovered that all 20 core competencies increased after the program. As a result of conducting contingent valuation to determine the value of the program, willingness to pay (WTP) per hour was KRW 33,223 and the total WTP was KRW 1.096 million, which, when multiplied by 73 participants, is approximately KRW 80.008 million. This is relatively higher than the budget used (KRW 22.943 million), indicating that the program is worth it.

A Curriculum of a Subject of Enneagram for Developing Key Competency of University Students

  • This paper is to propose a curriculum of a subject of Enneagram which is to be open to develop key competency of university students. In the modern days of the 4th industrial revolution universities are being called for key competency-based education and innovation in education. Universities suggested various key competencies according to the university's founding philosophies. And they have been reorganizing the liberal arts curriculum in a way that it can reinforce key competencies of the students in the aspect of liberal arts education. In this paper, an example of C university which has 3 key competencies such as, citizenship, character, and creative intelligence was presented. Enneagram is a good candidate for developing self-development which is sub-competency of character.

Understanding the developmental process of a mathematics teacher's competencies in mathematical modeling: A study conducted by Jung (2023)

  • Mathematics educators have examined mathematical modeling, where students tackle authentic real-life problems and develop problem-solving strategies with a sense of agency. However, few empirical studies have been conducted to illuminate the developmental process of teachers' competencies in mathematical modeling, particularly for elementary school teachers. Scholars have noted that elementary mathematics teachers can effectively teach mathematical modeling by designing tasks that consider students' abilities and preferences. In this vein, this review paper introduces a study conducted by Jung (2023), which examines the developmental process of an elementary school mathematics teacher's competencies in mathematical modeling and how she overcame related challenges.

대학의 직업기초능력 교육에 대한 교수와 학생의 인식 차이: A대학 사례를 중심으로 (Differences of Perception Between Students and Teachers to the Key Competencies Education in the University through A College Practice)

  • 대학의 직업기초능력 교육에 대한 기대와 비중이 갈수록 커져가고 있다. 대학은 사회에서 필요로 하는 인재 양성의 사회적 책무를 다하기 위해 다양한 방법으로 노력해 왔으나, 여전히 대학교육과 사회적 요구 간에는 다소 차이가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대학 교육의 주요한 결정 주체인 교수와 학생이 갖는 직업기초능력 교육에 대한 인식과 요구를 규명하여, 대학 교육이 학생 및 교수, 그리고 사회적 요구에 성공적으로 대응하기 위한 전략을 개발하고 운영하는데 도움을 주고자 하였다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해, A 대학 학생 475명과 교수 59명을 대상으로 직업기초능력 개발 교육에 대한 인식과 요구에 대한 설문을 개발하여 실시하였다. 설문조사 결과는 다중응답 빈도분석과 교차분석, 그리고 t 검정을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과 직업기초능력 교육의 인식과 요구에는 교수와 학생 간의 의미 있는 차이가 나타났으며, 주로 취업과 미래 준비를 하는 데 느끼는 어려움의 정도와 취업과 미래 준비를 위해 가장 많은 도움을 받고 있는 곳과 방법, 직업기초능력 개발 혹은 취업을 위한 노력의 정도, 직업기초능력 개발 혹은 취업을 위한 구체적 노력 요인 등에서 차이가 나타났다. 직업기초능력에 대한 교수와 학생의 인식과 요구를 바탕으로 대학 교육에 함의를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Competencies for Entry into the Profession of Dental Hygiene

  • This study was conducted to derive core and detailed competencies of dental hygienists to be utilized as educational targets to be reached by graduation as well as basic data that can be reflected in the development and improvement of dental hygiene curricula. This study analyzed publication reports from the Korean Dental Hygienists Association, the International Federation of Dental Hygienists, the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and the American Dental Education Association. Based on the academic classification system for dental hygiene studies, the components of core and detailed competencies of dental hygiene school at the time of graduation were extracted and developed through expert panel discussions. This study defined competencies at the graduation level of dental hygiene school and derived eight core competencies and their 52 detailed competencies to serve as educational objectives from four areas: professionalism, communication, clinical practice, and community and health promotion. In the future, it will be necessary to conduct self-assessments of competencies based on those developed in this study, at time of the graduation from dental hygiene school, as well as to continuously develop competency-based curricula according to entry level, knowledge level, and graduation level. Thus, it is urgently necessary to develop a system that can evaluate the competencies of dental hygienists after graduation and put this system into practical use.

핵심 역량 육성의 관점에서 비교한 한국과 일본의 수학과 교육과정 (A Comparison of the Mathematics Curriculum of Korea and Japan in Viewpoint of Promotion of Key Competencies)

  • 오늘날 개인의 삶뿐만 아니라 사회의 발전을 위해서는 모든 개인들이 그 사회에서 인간답고 성공적인 삶을 누릴 수 있도록 그에 필요한 역량을 갖출 필요가 있다. 이 역량은 현재 사회와 미래 사회를 분석하는 데서 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 이 글에서는 이러한 인식을 바탕으로 앞으로 우리나라 수학과 교육과정에서 어떤 핵심 역량을 제시하고 그것을 어떻게 구현할 것인지를 탐색하고자 했다. 먼저 핵심 역량을 다룬 여러 연구로부터 일반적으로 요구되는 핵심 역량을 알아보았다. 다음으로 한국과 일본의 수학과 교육과정이 개정되어 시행된 배경과 과정을 살펴보고 핵심 역량을 교육과정의 중심에 놓은 까닭을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 두 나라의 수학과 교육과정에서 제시된 핵심 역량이 무엇이고, 그것을 어떻게 구현하고자 했는지를 비교하고 나서 우리나라 교육과정에 시사하는 바를 제안하였다.

인테리어 리모델링 사업에서 영업사원의 핵심역량 모델 개발 - LG하우시스를 중심으로 - (Developing a Competence Model for Salespeople in Interior Remodeling Business - Focus on LG HAUSYS -)

  • Recently, competition in the interior remodeling business is fierce. However, the interior remodeling business is basically B2B, and in this business, sales are basically dictated by the capabilities of salespeople. Therefore, in this study, we intend to develop a model for the core competency of salespeople in the interior remodeling business. To this end, based on the research on the existing competency and competency modeling, the competency model of the salesperson was derived using Dubois' overlay method. A total of 12 core competencies could be defined through the first and second modeling. The subject of this study was focused on LG Hausys, the most representative interior remodeling company in Korea. Based on the core competencies developed in this way, overall sales competencies can be raised through the development of a training course to enhance the sales competencies of salespeople, and a more efficient and objective HR.

보건소 방문간호사의 전문직 간호역량 (The Development of Home-Visiting Nurses' Professional Competencies)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify professional competencies of visiting nurses in public health centers. Methods: A methodological study for the development of visiting nurses' professional competency was conducted through the review of literature and construction of a conceptual framework for the development of professional competence. After reviewing the content validity of each question and confirming the items of the preliminary tool, the construct validity of the tool was verified through exploratory factor analysis and internal reliability was confirmed. Results: After constructing 5 factors relating to the visiting nurse's professional competence, 25 items were developed, based on verification of content validity by experts. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that the professional competence of the visiting nurse was influenced by factors such as "health assessment and screening," "health teaching and counseling," "interprofessional communication", "program planning and implementation", and "Professional development". These five factors accounted for 76.38% of the professional competencies of the visiting nurse. Conclusion: The professional competence of the visiting nurse is consistent with the aim of the visiting nursing project. Also our results will contribute to baseline data used to evaluate the quality of work of the visiting nurse.

NCS 직업기초능력 교육을 위한 이러닝 콘텐츠 설계 및 개발 : 대인관계능력을 중심으로 (Design and Development of e-Learning Contents for the NCS Vacational Core Competencies: Focusing on Interpersonal Competency)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국가직무능력표준(NCS)에서 제시된 직업기초능력 중 대인관계능력 교육을 위한 이러닝 콘텐츠 구성요소 및 설계 전략을 도출하는 것이다. 대인관계능력 교육과정 및 내용은 표준화를 위해, NCS 개발 및 운영을 주관하는 한국산업인력공단에서 개발한 NCS 직업기초능력프로그램을 준용하였다. 표준화된 내용을 토대로 이러닝 콘텐츠 구성요소 및 설계 전략을 도출하기 위하여 선행연구 및 이러닝 사례 분석, 교수자 및 전문가 대상 설문과 면담 조사를 실시하였다. 조사 결과를 토대로 이러닝 콘텐츠를 개발하였으며, 개발된 이러닝 콘텐츠의 설계 전략의 타당성과 교육적 효과 분석을 위해 학생, 교수자, 전문가를 대상으로 평가를 실시하였다. 평가 결과, 적용한 이러닝 콘텐츠의 설계 전략이 적절하며, 개발한 이러닝 콘텐츠가 NCS 직업기초능력의 대인관계능력을 학습하는 데 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났다.

국내 기업의 기술경영 역량수준의 성숙도 평가 모형 개발 (The Development of a Maturity Evaluation Model on the Technology Management Competence (MEMTMC))

  • This research aims to develope a maturity evaluation model on the technology management competence (MEMTMC) and to investigate the relationship between technology management competencies and maturity evaluation level in Korean firms. After research framework building through literature review and field study focusing on interview process, a maturity evaluation model was suggested, including technology management competency factors such as vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures. Through the empirical study on the 111 Korean firms, the MEMTMC model was tested and some hypotheses were examined. As a result of the research, we found that the MEMTMC is significant statistically to evaluate the technology management competencies of firms from a practical point of view. Additionally, these findings suggest that firms can build up their technology management competencies, including the vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures in order to raise their maturity level of technology management competencies. But this research has some limitations such as this MEMTMC has not considered separately the variety of industry, not enough survey respondents and 5 level group firms etc.
