  • Purpose: This study analyzed the retention factors of Korean community health practitioners who sustained over 20 years based on a multi-dimensional framework. This study suggests global implications for nurses working in rural or remote areas, even during a worldwide pandemic. Methods: The participants were 16 Korean community health practitioners who worked in rural or remote locations for over 20 years. This study identified nurses' key retention factors contributing to long service in rural and remote areas. This is a qualitative study based on the narrative method and analysis was conducted using grounded theory. A semi-structured questionnaire was conducted based on the following: the life flow of the participants' first experience, episodes during the work experience, and reflections on the past 20 years. Results: First, personal 'financial needs' and 'callings' were motivation-related causal conditions. The adaptation of environment-work-community was the contextual condition leading to intervening conditions, building coping strategies by encountering a lifetime crisis. The consequences of 'transition' and 'maturation' naturally occurred with chronological changes. The unique factors were related to the 'external changes' in the Korean primary health system, which improved the participants' social status and welfare. Conclusion: Considering multi-dimensional retention factors was critical, including chronological (i.e., historical changes) and external factors (i.e., healthcare systems), to be supportive synchronously for rural nurses. Without this, the individuals working in the rural areas could be victimized by insecurity and self-commitment. Furthermore, considering the global pandemic, the retention of nurses is crucial to prevent the severity of isolation in rural and remote areas.

  • Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have made it easier for healthcare workers and patients to monitor patients' status continuously in real time. WBANs have complex and diverse network structures; thus, management and control can be challenging. Therefore, considering emerging Software-defined networks (SDN) with WBANs is a promising technology since SDN implements a new network management and design approach. The SDN concept is used in this study to create more adaptable and dynamic network architectures for WBANs. The study focuses on comparing the performance of two SDN controllers, POX and Ryu, using Mininet, an open-source simulation tool, to construct network topologies. The performance of the controllers is evaluated based on bandwidth, throughput, and round-trip time metrics for networks using an OpenFlow switch with sixteen nodes and a controller for each topology. The study finds that the choice of network controller can significantly impact network performance and suggests that monitoring network performance indicators is crucial for optimizing network performance. The project provides valuable insights into the performance of SDN-based WBANs using POX and Ryu controllers and highlights the importance of selecting the appropriate network controller for a given network architecture.

Also Younguan Royal Tomb forest comparison of a pair of photographs taken in 1920s and 1990. Sixteen sites were sampled with clumped sampling method in september 1990 and five quadrats were examined in each site. By classification and DCA, the plant community were divided into two groups(A. japonica community, P. densiflora, Quercus acutissima community) by the humus. Pinus densiflora community of actual vegetion covered 15.9%, Alnus japonica 6.5% and Quercus community 65.6% of the total area. And the afforested vegetation of P. koraiensis. P. rigida and Juglans mandshurica covered 13.2%. DCA ordination showed that successional trends of tree species seem to be from P. densiflora, Q. aliena to Q. acutissima in P. densiflora community and from A. japonica community of the upper layer. By the comparison of couple photographs between 1920s and 1990 we can recognize the change of historical landscape composed of P. densiflora community, A. japonaca and those community shall be conserved by the disclimax method, i.e. the broadleaf vegetation in the underlayer in the P. densiflora community should be cleared out. Otherwise the vegetational landscape sructure in Younguan Royal Tomb is successed to progress succession to Q. acutissima landscape.
