  • This study investigated the purpose and role of class evaluation standards and the reason to develop these teaching standards using literature review, survey, classroom observation and teacher interviews. Based on the teachers’opinion, we also investigated who should develop teaching standards and who will benefit most from the standards. In sum, the standards for teaching evaluation should help to form (a) the guidelines for beginners, (b) the directives for specialists, (c) the principles for grasping areas for improvements, and (d) the means for communicating with other communities. In addition, teachers should take responsibility for developing teaching standards as the basis for evaluating their own work and improving their own professional learning to provide quality assurance. The development of subject specific teaching standards is not possible without active participation of teachers as well as other stakeholders in education.

  • In this paper, we proposed one of the methods for building thesaurus in Science & Technology domain and investigated its applicability as an inference service based on ontology. There exist as many building methods for thesaurus as its role and function, and actually many thesauri capable of ensuring the accuracy and efficiency in information search are being built by many experts. After examining the previous studies related to the principles of building thesaurus and relevant concept "facet", we focused on its characteristics and applied it to building thesaurus. The facet is classified into 2 categories, conceptual facet and relational facet. The latter contains 3 subcategories: category relational facet, attribute relational facet and thematic relational facet. The thesaurus for Science & Technology domain using facets can be applied as a web-based inference service. As a result, the three types of inference service, COP(Communities of Practice), Researcher Tracing and Research Map are provided by means of ontology, and can be applied for the Query Expansion.

  • Soil physical and chemical characteristics, soil potential denitrification rates (PDR), community composition and nirK-, nirS- and nosZ-encoding denitrifiers were studied by using MiSeq sequencing, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), and terminal restriction fragment polymorphism (T-RFLP) technologies base on short-term (5-year) tillage field experiment. The experiment included four tillage treatments: conventional tillage with crop residue incorporation (CT), rotary tillage with crop residue incorporation (RT), no-tillage with crop residue retention (NT), and rotary tillage with crop residue removed as control (RTO). The results indicated that soil organic carbon, total nitrogen and NH4+-N contents were increased with CT, RT and NT treatments. Compared with RTO treatment, the copies number of nirK, nirS and nosZ in paddy soil with CT, RT and NT treatments were significantly increased. The principal coordinate analysis indicated that tillage management and crop residue returning management were the most and the second important factors for the change of denitrifying bacteria community, respectively. Meanwhile, this study indicated that activity and community composition of denitrifiers with CT, RT and NT treatments were increased, compared with RTO treatment. This result showed that nirK, nirS and nosZ-type denitrifiers communities in crop residue applied soil had higher species diversity compared with crop residue removed soil, and denitrifying bacteria community composition were dominated by Gammaproteobacteria, Deltaproteobacteria, and Betaproteobacteria. Therefore, it is a beneficial practice to increase soil PDR level, abundance and community composition of nitrogen-functional soil microorganism by combined application of tillage with crop residue management.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of the Reformation Calvin undertook in Geneva and see what efficient functions Christianity can afford to reveal its value in urban settings today. Calvin's Reformation provided a clear place and role for the Church in the public domain. In addition, Calvin's process of religious reform has always been followed by interest and welfare practices for the socially disadvantaged, such as the poor and women. In this understanding, the study presented the following applications that modern churches can practice in urban settings today: First, the church should be able to clearly understand the diversity, liquidity, and dynamics of the urban environment and make changes through various situational applications supported by the Bible. Second, the church's missional approach should shift from a believing-belonging process to a sense of belonging-believing. Third, the transition from a familiar traditional church to a new social reality is necessary, and efforts are needed to clearly understand the interests and atmosphere of community communities and keep pace with them. And finally, modern churches need to maintain new ecological sensitivity than ever before.

  • This study was initiated to address multicultural students' science learning, which is expected to be our assets for the next generation. By understanding their ideas of science learning and cultural context, we intend to encourage them and urge our science education communities to be interested in multicultural science education in Korea. We interviewed elementary and secondary school multicultural students, their parents, and teachers who have ever taught them. The interview revealed that they needed language-based support to improve their science learning. It seemed to be a serious problem that teachers' and students' expectancy toward multicultural students were low. We should put into practice scientific literacy for all students through the multicultural science education in our own context with school-based systematic support.

  • The use of new technology greatly shapes the marketing strategies used by companies to engage their consumers. Among these new technologies, social media is used to reach out to the organization's audience online. One of the most popular social media channels to date is the microblogging platform Twitter. With 500 million tweets sent on average daily, the microblogging platform is definitely a rich source of data for researchers, and a lucrative marketing medium for companies. Nonetheless, one of the challenges for companies in developing an effective Twitter campaign is the limited theoretical and empirical evidence on the proper organizational usage of Twitter despite its potential advantages for a firm's external communications. The current study aims to provide empirical evidence on how firms can utilize Twitter effectively in their marketing communications using the association between brand personality and brand engagement that several branding researchers propose. The study extends Aaker's previous empirical work on brand personality by applying the Brand Personality Scale to explore whether Twitter brand communities convey distinctive brand personalities online and its influence on the communities' level or intensity of consumer engagement and sentiment quality. Moreover, the moderating effect of the product involvement construct in consumer engagement is also measured. By collecting data for a period of eight weeks using the publicly available Twitter application programming interface (API) from 23 accounts of Twitter-verified business-to-consumer (B2C) brands, we analyze the validity of the paper's hypothesis by using computerized content analysis and opinion mining. The study is the first to compare Twitter marketing across organizations using the brand personality concept. It demonstrates a potential basis for Twitter strategies and discusses the benefits of these strategies, thus providing a framework of analysis for Twitter practice and strategic direction for companies developing their use of Twitter to communicate with their followers on this social media platform. This study has four specific research objectives. The first objective is to examine the applicability of brand personality dimensions used in marketing research to online brand communities on Twitter. The second is to establish a connection between the congruence of offline and online brand personalities in building a successful social media brand community. Third, we test the moderating effect of product involvement in the effect of brand personality on brand community engagement. Lastly, we investigate the sentiment quality of consumer messages to the firms that succeed in communicating their brands' personalities on Twitter.
