An Analytical Modeling of Threshold Voltage and Subthreshold Swing on Dual Material Surrounding Gate Nanoscale MOSFETs for High Speed Wireless Communication

  • A new two dimensional (2-D) analytical model for the Threshold Voltage on dual material surrounding gate (DMSG) MOSFETs is presented in this paper. The parabolic approximation technique is used to solve the 2-D Poisson equation with suitable boundary conditions. The simple and accurate analytical expression for the threshold voltage and sub-threshold swing is derived. It is seen that short channel effects (SCEs) in this structure is suppressed because of the perceivable step in the surface potential which screens the drain potential. We demonstrate that the proposed model exhibits significantly reduced SCEs, thus make it a more reliable device configuration for high speed wireless communication than the conventional single material surrounding gate (SMSG) MOSFETs.

Design of a High Speed and Low Power CMOS Demultiplexer Using Redundant Multi-Valued Logic (Redundant Multi-Valued Logic을 이용한 고속 및 저전력 CMOS Demultiplexer 설계)

  • This paper proposes a high speed interface using redundant multi-valued logic for high speed communication ICs. This circuit is composed of encoding circuit that serial binary data are received and converted into parallel redundant multi-valued data, and decoding circuit that convert redundant multi-valued data to parallel binary data. Because of the multi-valued data conversion, this circuit makes it possible to achieve higher operating speeds than that of a conventional binary logic. Using this logic, a 1:4 demultiplexer (DEMUX, serial-parallel converter) IC was designed using a 0.35${\mu}m$ standard CMOS Process. Proposed demultiplexer is achieved an operating speed of 3Gb/s with a supply voltage of 3.3V and with power consumption of 48mW. Designed circuit is limited by maximum operating frequency of process. Therefore, this circuit is to achieve CMOS communication ICs with an operating speed greater than 3Gb/s in submicron process of high of operating frequency.

  • Nowadays, we can enjoy access to high speed network and advanced services of convergence between broadcasting and communication anywhere and anytime through a ubiquitous computing. So, now digital convergence devices come out constantly. These devices are required faster network environment for high speed data processing than before. In this paper, we describe the design of InfiniBnad network adapter, which is included two FPGA chipsets. When this adapter is installed to Digital Convergence Platform (DCP) network performance will be improved. The adapter includes 12channel serial ports for external communication and internally, uses PCI-Express bus. We have finished the test of high speed serial based network adapter through composing complete InfiniBand network and applied fabric management software. So, we have verified that it can be applied on DCP environment.

  • This paper presents a novel design of a self tuning PI controller of induction motor using fuzzy control. In this approach, the fuzzy tuning of a PI controller gains is achieved through fuzzy rules deduced from many robustness simulation tests applied to several induction motors, for a variety of operating conditions such as response to speed command from standstill, step load torque application and speed variations, with nominal parameters and an changed rotor resistance, self inductance and inertia. Simulation results on a speed controller of induction motor are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner. And this controller is better than the fixed gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.

  • A method of common earth, which is proposed by French Railway(SNCF) and is applied to high speed railway, minimizes the effect of the traction return current from tracks so that trackside electric devices can be protected and operation and maintenance staffs are kept out from injury in an electric railway environment. According to it, all the new domestic electric railway lines are replaced from existing individual earth method to the common earth method. In this paper, we analyze the correlation between common earth method and traction return current to prove whether the common earth has surely contributed to minimize the effect of the traction return current. The analysis was done based on the measurement of the traction return current at the domestic high speed railway line.

  • Global flow of communication is a trend of high speed, digitalization, and high-capacity. Furthermore, spread spectrum method has been dominantly utilized to efficiently use the frequency which is the scarce resource. The PLL (Phase Lock Loop) which is a widely used frequency synthesizer in communication systems has few problems such as status interferences and hence, this study utilized the DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) which is a digital device that can minimize the problems of PLL for the study on the performance evaluation of high speed frequency hopping system design. We designed a system that practices high speed frequency hopping and interprets improvement of error-rates and evaluated its performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a visible light road-to-vehicle communication system at intersection as one of ITS technique. In this system, the communication between vehicle and a LED traffic light is approached using LED traffic light as the transmitter, and on-vehicle high-speed camera as the receiver. The LEDs in the transmitter are emitted with 500Hz and those emitting LEDs are captured by a high-speed camera for making communication. The images from the high-speed camera are processed to get luminance value of each LED in the transmitter. For this purpose, first transmitter should be found, then it should be tracked for each frame, and the luminance value of each LED in the transmitter should be captured. In our previous work, transmitter was found by getting the subtraction of two consecutive frames. In this paper, we mainly introduce an algorithm to detect the found transmitter in consecutive frames. Experimental results using appropriate images showed the effectiveness of the proposal

  • It has been increased that communicate each other things such as consumer electronics, mobile equipments and wearable computer with serial communication protocol. The conventional method of SPI and I2C high speed serial communication is widely used with 2 pin of clock and data pin. It has been more important than the speed of data transfer to simplify the hardware structure because the IoT components is reduced the hardware complexity. In this paper, we describe the protocol and implementation of serial data transfer with only one pin. The proposed protocol is suitable for the mobile products that send and receive the small amount of data with low speed and low power consumption.

  • This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy neural network(AFNN) and artificial neural network(ANN) based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. The hybrid combination of fuzzy control and neural network will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability. Also, this paper is proposed control and estimation of speed of induction motor using fuzzy and neural network. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed. so that the actual state variable will coincide with the desired one. This paper is proposed the experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

Here, the luminance value of each LED in the transmitter should be found for consecutive frames to achieve effective communication. For this purpose, first the transmitter should be identified, then it should be tracked for consecutive frames while the vehicle is moving, by processing the images from the high-speed camera. In our previous work, the transmitter was identified by getting the subtraction of two consecutive frames. In this paper, we mainly introduce an algorithm to track the identified transmitter in consecutive frames. Experimental results using appropriate images showed the effectiveness of the proposal.
