  • In recent wireless communications, direct conversion transceiver or If sampling SDR-based receivers have being designed as an alternative to conventional transceiver topologies. In direct conversion receiver a.chitectu.e, the 1.equency/phase offset between the RF input signal and the local oscillator signal is a major impairment factor even though the conventional AFC/APC compensates the service deterioration due to the offset. To rover the limited tracking range of the conventional method and effectively aid compensation scheme in terms of I/Q channel imbalances, the frequency/phase offset compensation in RF-front end signal stage is proposed in this paper. In RF-front end, the varying phase offset besides the fixed large frequency/phase offset are corrected by using early-late phase compensator. A more simple frequency and phase tacking function in digital signal processing stage of direct conversion receiver is effectively available by an ingenious frequency/phase offset tracking method in RF front-end stage.

The RF-Tag in this study is consisted of a skin temperature sensor, a dynamic microphone for heart sound detection, Bluetooth communication to transmute healthcare data, and pulse period detection algorithm with adaptive gain controller. We experimented to evaluate performance of the RF-Tag in noisy environments. In addition, the RF-Tag has shown the good performance in the results of experiment. If the proposed methods in this study apply to design the u-healthcare device, we will be able to get the exact health data on real time in mobile environments.

  • This paper investigates the method to implement a RF (Radio Frequency) energy harvesting sensor node and to build a sensor network using a CATV network and a leaky coaxial cable. The power supply of a sensor node is designed with the WPTS (Wireless Power Transfer System) receiver operating at 915MHz. A sensor network has limited coverage by the loss of RF signal at a wireless transmission link. The paper proposes to build a sensor network that the BLE signal of a sensor and the signal of a WPTS power transmitter are transmitted through a coaxial cable of a CATV network by utilizing WOC (WiFi over Coax) technology and radiates at a leaky coaxial cable. The length of a leaky coaxial cable and the total loss of a wire link are allowed to the point that the RSSI of a sensor node is more than the minimum value (-78dBm) and lead to extend wireless coverage.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to analyze the clusters of RF threats emitting electrical signals based on collected signal variables in integrated electronic warfare environments. We first analyze the signal variables collected by an electronic warfare receiver, and construct a model based on variables showing the properties of threats. To visualize the distribution of RF threats and reversely identify them, we use k-means clustering algorithm and self-organizing map (SOM) algorithm, which are belonging to unsupervised learning techniques. Through the resulting model compiled by k-means clustering and SOM algorithms, the RF threats can be classified into one of the distribution of RF threats. In an experiment, we measure the accuracy of classification results using the algorithms, and verify the resulting model that could be used to visually recognize the distribution of RF threats.

  • In this paper, designed a diode detector and a log chip detector for mobile communication, and its application is proposed by compared results. In practice, fabricated a diode detector have showed detection voltage of $0{\sim}0.7V$ to RF input power of $-40dBm{\sim}-10dBm$, therefore it has suitable characteristic for small variable signal detection. And a log chip detector have showed wide dynamic range of 65dB, and $1.5{\sim}4.5V$ detection voltage to RF input power of $-65dBm{\sim}0dBm$. therefore we have found that it suit peak power measurement because it had insensible output detection voltage.

  • This paper presents testing and self-calibration of RF circuits using MEMS switches to identify process-related defects and out of specification circuits. We have developed a novel multi-tone dither test technique where the test stimulus is generated by modulating the RF carrier signal with a multi-tone signal generated using an Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) with additive white Gaussian noise. This test stimulus is provided as input to the RF circuit and peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is measured at the output. For a faulty circuit, a significant difference is observed in the value of PAR as compared to a fault-free circuit. Simulation is performed for various circuit conditions such as fault-free as well as fault-induced and their corresponding PARs are stored in the look-up table. This testing and self-calibration technique is exhaustive and efficient for present-day communication systems.

  • Unlike the electric method capable of checking only product defect, the real time optical metrology is suggested for measuring and visualizing vibration with respect to position of surface acoustic wave in RF device. The measuring limits and conditions for surface acoustic wave is given, and the interference and diffraction due to RF signal are analyzed by optical interpretation. A single mode laser and a 105MHz-center-frequency repeater filter were employed for experiments and theoretical analysis. In this paper, the optical metrology providing visual energy distribution and real time inspection for surface acoustic wave is proposed for development of high quality multi-service and multi-frequency RF module.

  • Ambient backscatter communication is limited to channel estimation technique through a pilot signal, which is a channel estimation method in current RF communication, due to transmission power efficiency. In a limited transmission power environment, the research of traditional ambient backscatter communication has been studied assuming that it is an ideal channel without signal distortions due to channel conditions. In this paper, we propose an expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm, one of the blind channel estimation techniques, as a channel estimation method in ambient backscatter communication system which is the state of channel following normal distribution. In the proposed system model, the simulations confirm that channel estimate through EM algorithm is approaching the lower bound of the mean square error compared with the Bayesian Cramer-Rao Boundary(BCRB) to check performance. It shows that the channel parameter can be estimated in the ambient backscatter communication system.

  • In this paper, Sub harmonic mixer using anti-parallel diode pair is designed for 5.8 GHz Wireless LAN. Conventional mixers mix LO with RF and obtain IF signal from the difference between LO and RF. As frequency increase, LO signal is required increasing LO power, better phase noise, stable LO. But, using APDP, the SHP mixer mix the harmonics of LO signal. Therefore, Sub harmonic mixer is advantage that necessary LO signal frequency was used to operate the 1/2. When LO power is 3 dBm, the conversion loss of manufactured SHP mixer is 12.83 dB. The isolation of LO/IF, 2LO/IF, RF/IF and LO/RF is 39.17 dB, 58 dB, 34 dB, 67.9 dB. And IIP3 is 8 dBm.

  • In this paper, the measurement system of crane moving range is concerned with range recognition technology using phase and magnitude of radio wave. By the proposed technology, we design the radio transmitter and receiver and realize the measurement system, and save the data in disk that is earned from 900Mhz RF signal, middle frequency 450khz of analog signal. As a result of RF measurement, we got 9.3 dBm of RF output and 96 dBc@10khz of phase noise. Range information is earned the data through digital signal processing of IF signal. For the estimation of range measured, we analyze the difference between real range and measurement range, and also suggest the method to remove the measurement error using average processing and amplitude properties. A result is 0.12 and 0.00422 deviation in l0mn-30m and within 5m respectively, and then 2.4E-04 deviation in 4m by using compensation of level characteristics lately.
