열가소성 폐플라스틱 연소 보일러용 펠렛 연료의 용융특성 실험 (Experimental study on the melting characteristics of pellet fuel for a waste plastic firing boiler)

  • Experiments were performed to investigate the melting characteristics of pellet fuel made of LDPE and PP for a waste plastic firing boiler. Pellet fuel in a burner goes through conduction, convection and radiation transferred from flame in a furnace, and complex thermo/chemical processes. To figure out effects of ambient temperature and size of pellet on melting time pellets with a diameter from 5 mm to 40 mm were made to contact high temperature flue gas generated by a LNG firing pilot burner. Though melting processes of plastics include complicated heat transfer in a burner, parameters are limited to flue gas temperature and size for the simplicity in this study. From the results, melting times of LDPE and PP with a diameter of 5mm are 63 and 62 secs respectively at 600 $^{\circ}C$ while 677 and 583 sees respectively for a diameter of 40 mm. At $900^{\circ}C$, melting times of LDPE and PP with a diameter of 5mm are 21 and 24 sees respectively while 408 and 337 secs respectively for a diameter of 40 mm. It is found that melting time of LDPE is longer than that of PP, and melting times of both in general increase with diameter of pellets. It is thought melting is dependent mostly on melting temperature of plastic. It is expected melting times obtained from the study might be taken into account in designing a pellet firing burner for a boiler

분사시기의 변화에 따른 제어자발화 가솔린기관의 성능 및 배기특성 (Performance and Emission Characteristics of a Controlled Auto-Ignition Gasoline Engine according to Variation of the Injection Timing)

  • This work deals with a controlled auto-ignition (CAI) single cylinder gasoline engine, focusing on the extension of operating conditions. The fuel is injected indirectly into electrically heated inlet air flow. In order to keep a homogeneous air-fuel mixing, the fuel injector is water-cooled by a specially designed coolant passage. Investigated are the engine performance and emission characteristics under the wide range of operating conditions such as 40 in the air-fuel ratio, 1000 to 1800 rpm in the engine speed, $150\;to\;180^{\circ}C$ in the inlet-air temperature, and $80^{\circ}$ BTDC to $20^{\circ}$ ATDC in the injection timing. A controlled auto-ignition gasoline engine can be achieved that the ultra lean-burn with self-ignition of gasoline fuel by heating inlet air. It can be achieved that the emission concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide had been significantly reduced by CAI combustion compared with conventional spark ignition engine.

  • Air preheater uses the waste heat of the gas which burnt from the boiler from the thermal power plant. Air preheater it is established in the exit of the boiler follows in change of temperature combustion gas and the vibration which it follows in thermal expansion and contraction occurs. Air preheater with ruse the gas the seal the place where it includes a gap in the structure which it does, the vibration which it follows in change of temperature fluctuates the displacement of gap, fluctuation of the leakage quantity which occurs from gap there is a possibility of decreasing an effect to system. Part system it will be able to control the interval of gap in order, control mechanism about under establishing the place where it does the gap control actively, measures a gap the displacement sensor for is necessary. Like this displacement sensor the condition must do continuous running from atmosphere of high temperature was demanded all. This paper investigates the implementation instance of hazard existing which implement the high temperature displacement sensor, it analyzes, produces the result which it examines a model, it was a presentation. These results with the fact that it will contribute in the research for the implementation and a localization of the high temperature displacement sensor and advanced air preheater.

PDMS 몰드를 이용한 초고온 MEMS용 SiCN 미세구조물 제작과 그 특성 (Fabrication of SiCN microstructures for super-high temperature MEMS using PDMS mold and its characteristics)

  • This paper describes a novel processing technique for fabrication of polymer-derived SiCN (silicone carbonitride) microstructures for super-temperature MEMS applications. PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) mold is fabricated on SU-8 photoresist using standard UV photolithographic process. Liquid precursor is injected into the PDMS mold. Finally, solid polymer structure is cross-linked using HIP (hot isostatic pressure) at $400^{\circ}C$, 205 bar. Optimum pyrolysis and annealing conditions are determined to form a ceramic microstructure capable of withstanding over $1400^{\circ}C$. The fabricated SiCN ceramic microstructure has excellent characteristics, such as shear strength (15.2 N), insulation resistance ($2.163{\times}10^{14}{\Omega}$) and BDV (min. 1.2 kV) under optimum process condition. These fabricated SiCN ceramic microstructures have greater electric and physical characteristics than bulk Si wafer. The fabricated SiCN microstructures would be applied for supertemperature MEMS applications such as heat exchanger and combustion chamber.

헤모글로빈-일산화탄소 농도에 따른 연소형태 (Fire Patterns Based on the Hb-CO Concentration)

  • 심하게 소손된 화재현장은 남아 있는 잔존물만으로 초기 화재의 유형을 판단하기 곤란할 때가 많다. 화재로 인해 사람이 사망하였을 경우 혈중 일산화탄소-헤모글로빈 농도는 생존 당시의 화재의 유형을 가늠할 수 있으며 촉진제를 사용한 급격한 화재의 경우 열기와 유독가스로 인해 재실자의 생존은 화재진행속도와 비례되어 체내 헤모글로빈 일산화탄소 농도는 낮았으며, 훈소와 같이 서서히 진행되는 연소의 경우 오랜 시간 호흡하면서 체내에 축적되는 일산화탄소 농도는 증가하였다. 이러한 인체의 헤모글로빈-일산화탄소 농도를 분석하면 생존 시 어떠한 형태의 화재에 노출되었는지 알 수 있었다.

  • The numerical investigation on the effects of water-mist characteristics has been carried out for the fire suppression mechanism. The FDS are used to simulate the interaction of fire plume and water mists, and program describes the fire-driven flows using LES turbulence model, the mixture fraction combustion model, the finite volume method of radiation transport for a non-scattering gray gas, and conjugate heat transfer between wall and gas flow. The numerical model is consisted of a rectangular enclosure of $L{\times}W{\times}H=1.5{\times}1.5{\times}2.0m^3$ and a water mist nozzle that be installed 1.8 m from fire pool. In the present study, the parameters of nozzle for simulation are the droplet size and the spray velocity. The droplet size influences to fire flume on fire suppression more than the spray velocity because of the effect of the terminal velocity. The optimal condition for fire suppression is that the droplet size and the spray velocity are $100{\mu}m$ and 20 m/s respectively.

평편한 튜브의 입구 영역에서의 비회복사 (Non-gray Radiation in the Entrance Region of a Smooth Tube)

  • 튜브 내의 입구영역에서 대류와 비회복사(mon-gray radiation)가 동시에 일어날 때의 열전달 특성을 수치해석적으로 연구하였다. 작동유체는 이산화탄소, 수증기, 질소의 혼합가스라 하였고, 유동은 속도장과 온도장이 동시에 발달하는 층류 유동으로 가정하였다. 복사전달방정식을 풀기 편하게 하기 위해 P-1 근사법이 사용되었고 혼합가스의 비회흡수계수(non-gray sbsorption coefficient)는 지수광폭밴드모형(exponential wide band model)을 이용해서 구하였다. 열전달 특성에 대한 온도조건의 영향을 조사하기 위해 튜브의 축방향에 대한 평균온도와 뉴셀트수(Nusselt number)의 변화를 몇 가지 다른 온도조건에 대해 나타내었다. 속도장과 온도장이 동시에 발달하는 경우의 뉴셀트수를 속도장은 완전히 발달되어 있고 온도장만 발달하는 경우의 뉴셀트 수와 비교하였다. 또한, 가스의 성분조성이 대류와 비회복사 뉴셀트수에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다.

  • This paper describes the engine performance of a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition(HCCI) engine according to Exhaust Gas Recirculation(EGR), cylinder-to-cylinder, fuel of propane and butane. HCCI engines are being considered as a future alternative for diesel and gasoline engines. HCCI engines have the potential for high efficiency, very low NOx emissions and very low particulate matter(PM). On experimental work, we have done an evaluation of operating conditions in a 4-cylinder compression engine. The engine has been run with propane and butane fuels at a constant speed of 1800rpm. This work is intended to investigate the HCCI operation of the engine in this configuration that has been modified from the base diesel engine. The performance and emissions of the engine are presented. In this paper, the start of combustion(SOC) is defined as the $50{\%}$ point of the peak rate of heat release. SOC is delayed slightly with increasing EGR. As expected, NOx emissions were very low for all EGR range and nbuned HC and CO emission levels were high. CO and HC emissions are lower with using propane than butane as fuels of HCCI engines.

마이크로 사이클론 연소기의 혼합 및 유동특성에 관한 수치해석 연구 (Numerical Simulation of the Mixing and Flow Characteristics in a Micro Cyclone Combustor)

  • A micro cyclone combustor was developed to be used as a heat source of thermoelectric power generator (TPG). The cyclone combustor was designed so that fuel and air were supplied to the combustion chamber separately. The mixing and flow characteristics in the combustor were investigated numerically. The global equivalence ratio ($\Phi$), defined using the fuel and air flow rates, was introduced to examine the flow features of the combustor. The mixing of fuel and air inside the combustor could be well understood using the fuel concentration distribution. It was found that the weak recirculating zone was formed upper the fuel-supplying tube in case of ${\Phi}$<1.0. In addition, it was found that small regions that have a negative axial velocity exist near the fuel injection ports. It is assumed that these negative axial velocity regions can stabilize a flame inside the micro cyclone combustor.

가스 쿡탑 버너에서 디자인 형상이 배기배출물에 미치는 영향 (The influence of significant design factor on CO and NOx emission in gas cooktop burner)

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the effects of configuration of burner and air excess ratio on CO & NOx emission characteristics of the cooktop burners which are used extensively. In this study, the combustion characteristics were investigated with the variation of design factor of cooktop burners. The results showed that as the thermal input increases, flammable region go narrower. With the increase of loading height from the cap to grate, the CO emission decrease owing to the reduction of quenching by flame impingement on the load. Additionally, the CO emission increase with angle of main slot, however the NO emission is almost unaffected.
