Molecular self-assembly has several advantages over other nanofabrication methods. Molecular building blocks ensure ultrafine pattern precision, parallel structure formation allows for mass production and a variety of three-dimensional structures are available for fabricating complex structures. Nevertheless, the molecular interaction for self-assembly generally relies on weak forces such as van der Waals force, hydrogen bonding, or hydrophobic interaction. Due to the weak interaction, the structure formation is usually slow and the degree of ordering is low in a self-assembled structure. To promote self-assembly, directed assembly methods employing prepatterned substrates or external fields have been developed and gathered a great deal of technological attention as a next generation nanofabrication process. In this presentation a variety of directed assembly methods for soft nanomaterials including block copolymers, peptides and carbon nanomaterials will be introduced. Block copolymers are representative self-assembling materials extensively utilized in nanofabrication. In contrast to colloid assembly or anodized metal oxides, various shapes of nanostructures, including lines or interconnected networks, can be generated with a precise tunability over their shape and size. Applying prepatterned substrates$^{1,2}$ or introducing thickness modulation$^3$ to block copolymer thin films allowed for the control over the orientational and positional orderings of self-assembled structures. The nanofabrication processes for metals, semiconductors$^4$, carbon nanotubes$^{5,6}$, and graphene$^{6,7}$ templating block copolymer self-assembly will be presented.

Dispersion and flocculation behaviors of clay-ash powders in a slurry state were examined, and we have systematically investigated the effects of colloid/interfaces variables on slip properties and the rheological behavior of ash-clay slurry. Ash-clay slurries have been characterized on the basis of the time dependent rheology which was done out by the gel-curve test. Gel-curve for the coagulated slip shows interesting rheological behavior which was caused by the formation of the new network structure and the readsoption of the polysilicon hydroxo species on the particle surfaces.
Cystic hypersecretory carcinoma of the breast is a rare variant of ductal carcinoma of breast, first described in 1984 by Rosen and Scott. Histologically, it is characterized by the formation of dilated ducts and cysts containing an eosinophilic secretory product resembling thyroid colloid. Cytologic findings show a few clusters of atypical ductal epithelial cells in amorphous proteinaceous material with clacking artifact. Differential diagnosis include mucinous carcinoma and benign mucocele-like tumor. We present two cases of fine needle aspiration cytology of cystic hypersecretory intraductal carcinoma of the breast with a review of the literature.
We present a method for chemically reducing silver alkylcarbamate complex with hydrazine to synthesize silver nanocolloids in an organic solvent using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the stabilizer. To determine the optimal conditions for preparing stable silver colloids of controlled size and shape, the silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate (Ag-EHCB) complex, PVP, hydrazine, and 2-propanol solvent concentrations in the reaction mixture were varied. The initial colloid has a mean particle diameter of 5-80 nm, and it exhibits an absorption band with various shapes in the UV region with a maximum near 420 nm. UV-vis spectroscopy, TEM, and X-ray diffraction techniques were used to investigate the formation and growth process of the metallic silver nanocolloids.
Cypermethrin-containing polyurea microcapsules were prepared by interfacial polymerization using aromatic 2,4-toluene diisocyanate(TDI) and Ethylene diamine(EDA) as wall forming materials. The effects of the protective colloids of polyvinylalcohol(PVA) and gelatin were investigated through experimentation. The mean size of the polyurea microcapsules was smaller and the surface morphology of the PVA was much smoother than gelatin. In addition the release behavior was much more controlled and better sustained. As the concentration of protective colloid increased, the wall membrane of the polyurea microcapsules became more stable, the thermal stability of the wall membrane increased, the mean particle size became smaller, and the particle distribution was more uniform. The release behavior of the core material changed according to the concentration. As the gelatin concentration was increased, a more controlled and sustained release behavior was observed. However, in the case of PVA, the increase of PVA concentration lead to a more rapid release rate.
Colloidally stable organic-inorganic (O-I) hybrid nanoparticles could be prepared using an alkoxysilanefunctionalized amphiphilic polymer (AFAP) precursor. O-I hybrid sols could maintain colloidal stability for six months even at 45% solid content and be coated onto glass as well as PET film to form transparent O-I hybrid films. The formation of O-I hybrid nanoparticles dispersed in cured coating films could be confirmed using scanning electron microscopy. The cured coating film showed 3H and 5H pencil hardness on PET and glass, respectively. Nanoindentation measurements also showed that their modulus and hardness was varied with the type of AFAP used in its preparation.
The separation of the small colloidal particles from the mixture of two different sized particles using AC dielectrophoresis phenomenon was studied. The spherical mono-dispersed polystyrene particles dispersed in pure water were put into a perfusion chamber on a substrate, and AC electric fold was applied to the glass substrate with Au electrodes in 4 mm distance. The AC frequency was fixed at 1 kHz and the intensity of the field was varied from 25 V/cm to 160 V/cm. After applying the AC field, the degree of the chain formation that resulted from the particle movements by dielectrophoresis was observed by optical microscope. The mixture of the $1\;{\mu}m\;and\;5\;{\mu}m$ sized polystyrene particles at 0.5 vol% concentrations for each size was set in the dielectrophoresis conditions of 1 kHz and 100 V/cm. At this condition large $5\;{\mu}m$ sized polystyrene particles formed chains, on the contrary the $1\;{\mu}m$ sized polystyrene particles formed no chains. After water flowing for 20 min, it was found that small particles that were floating in the chamber had been removed by the water flowing.
There are no reliable data about the effect on the baking industry in Korea yet. The damage caused by the product's aging is so much in the confectionary and baking industries. Therefore, the aging of bread is an economical problem which determines its commercial lifespan. In order to solve out this aging problem, this article dealt with the factors which give rise to the effect of starch on the aging and its inhibitory methods. 1. Control of the moisture content : Because the aging of starch occurs at 30~60% of moisture most frequently, controlling the moisture content above or below the above percentage can help restrain the aging to a certain degree. 2. Addition of sugars : The sugars become hydrated through hydrogenation with the moisture in the food. Thus, the sugars suppress the phenomenon of crumbling inside the food acting as a kind of dehydrator. 3. Use of an emulsifying agent : The emulsifying agent increases the stability of starch colloid liquid and suppresses the precipitation of starch molecules and the formation of crystallized range to prevent aging. 4. Method by freezing : The aging of starch does hardly occur reaching -2$0^{\circ}C$~-3$0^{\circ}C$ below zero. 5. Maintenance of warm condition : The freshness of bread is maintained at the 80% of humidity at 5$0^{\circ}C$.

This study reports the fabrication and application of semitransparent Cu nanoparticle layers. Spin coating and subsequent drying of a Cu colloid solution were performed to deposit Cu nanoparticle layers onto Si and glass substrates. As the spin speed of the spin coating increases, the density of the nanoparticles on the substrate decreases, and the agglomeration of nanoparticles is suppressed. This microstructural variation affects the optical properties of the nanoparticle layers. The transmittance and reflectance of the Cu nanoparticle layers increase with increasing spin speed, which results from the trade-off between the exposed substrate area and surface coverage of the Cu nanoparticles. Since the glass substrates coated with Cu nanoparticle layers are semitransparent and colored, it is anticipated that the application of a Cu nanoparticle-dielectric bilayer structure to transparent solar cells will improve the cell efficiency as well as aesthetic appearance.
Reaction of aniline and iodine in$CHCl_3,\;CH_2Cl_2 : CHCl_3$(1 : 1), and $CH_2Cl_2$ has been studied kinetically by using conductivity method, Pseudo first-order rate constants ($k_{obs}$) and second-order rate constants ($k_{obs}$/[aniline]) are dependent on the aniline concentration. Second-order rate constants obtained were increased with increasing aniline concentration. We analysed these results on the basis of formation of charge transfer complex as reaction intermediate. From the construction of react ion scheme and derivation of rate equation, we calculated equilibrium constants and activation parameters for the formation and transformation of charge transfer complex. The equilibrium constants were decreased by an increase in the dielectric constant of the solvent and the value is 1.7-3.7$M^{-1}$. The rate of transformation are markedly affected by the solvent polarity. ${\Delta}H^{\neq}$ is about 14.2kJ/mol, and ${\Delta}S^{\neq}$ is large negative value of -243J/mol K.
