  • Purpose: This study was designed for understanding their experiences through qualitative research method. There is a growing concern about what the trainee school health teachers experience during teaching practice period, the first experience as a teacher. Method: Data collection was conducted on 2012-2014, using the student teaching practice self-reports. Participants included 43 school health preliminary teacher's teaching practice from G colleges. The study conducted a qualitative analysis by utilizing computer assisted qualitative data analysis software(CAQDAS), NVivo 10. Results: The trainees experienced that tension, excitement and fear was changed to joy, rewarding and gratitude. They defined the practice as a standard of the possibility in the capacity of a future teacher. It was a hard job without a sense of accomplishment. They thought that too much works in school health teacher and thanks to the school and teacher for the teaching opportunities. They think teaching as a hard job to endure without a sense of accomplishment. Conclusion: Findings of this study allow for a comprehensive understanding of trainees. It was investigated the suggestions for the improvement of a teaching practice. The challenge need to the expand school health teacher placement and more research.

  • Purpose: This is a qualitative descriptive study with the purpose of identifyng the health problems and related factors of socially vulnerable school-age children in Seoul, South Korea. Methods: Two focus group interviews and two individual interviews were conducted with eleven participants. They were two class teachers, three school nurses and two daycare teachers working at elementary schools and three social workers and a welfare worker working at community childcare centers. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The identified psychosocial problems were 'distracting and excessive behavior', 'depression and helplessness,' 'aggression and violent behaviors', and 'internet overdependence'. The revealed physical health problems were 'poor hygiene', 'obesity', and 'gastrointestinal problems'. In addition, the fact that physical and psychosocial problems are closely inter-linked was reaffirmed through practical examples. Meanwhile, socioeconomic, family environmental, social experiential and individual factors were found to affect children's health. Relationships within a family or a peer group and healthy lifestyle were considered critical issues to deal with in order to improve the childrens' health status. Conclusion: It was proved that socially vulnerable school-age children have various physical and mental health problems due to multiple factors. Therefore, it is required to design nursing approaches that help them achieve optimal health status.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the health behaviors and the aggression in Korean high school students. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted with a survey of 2,676 high school students. Aggression was measured in four categories (physical aggression, verbal aggression, anger and hostility) using the Aggression Questionnaire, a modified hostility inventory by Buss and Perry. Result: Univariate analysis showed that sex, smoking, alcohol, caffeine, pain pills and gastrointestinal drugs were significantly associated with aggression scores. Boys scored higher than girls in terms of physical and verbal aggression. With respect to the habit of self-medication, students who took pain pills in the last 30 days revealed higher scores in all four aggressive constructs. From multivariate analysis, it was found that alcohol, caffeine, smoking, pain pills, sex and gastrointestinal drugs were independently associated with total aggression score in the order of importance. Alcohol and caffeine, among these factors, had strong correlation with all aggressive characteristics. Conclusion: This study identified a consistent association between the aggression of the students and health behavioral factors, but causal relationship remains to be proven.

  • In this study, one-dimensional fiber-optic radiation sensor with an organic scintillator tip is fabricated to measure high energy X-ray beam profile of CLINAC. According to the energy and field size of X-ray, scintillating light signal from one-dimensional fiber-optic sensor is measured using a photodiode-amplifier system. This sensor has many advantages such as high resolution, real-time measurement and ease calibration over conventional ion chamber and film.
