  • In this paper, we study the effectiveness of college mathematics education by counseling freshman. And we discuss the effectiveness that the college mathematics education can be promoted throughout counseling freshman and by teaching examples in engineering mathematics in courses of calculus and differential equation and linear algebra.

간호대학 신입생의 대인관계 능력이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향: 공감 능력의 매개효과 (Influence of Interpersonal Ability on College Life Adjustment in Freshman in Nursing College: Mediation Effect of Empathy Ability)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학 신입생을 대상으로 대인관계 능력과 대학생활적응 간의 관계에서 공감 능력의 매개 효과를 확인하고자 시도된 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구 대상자는 연구 참여에 동의한 4개 대학의 간호학과 신입생 179명이다. 자료수집은 2018년 6월 11일부터 6월 18일까지 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 수집하였다. 자료는 SPSS 21.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 간호대학 신입생의 공감 능력과 대인관계 능력이 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치는 요인임을 확인하였고, 대인관계 능력과 대학생활적응과의 관계에서 공감 능력이 부분 매개 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 간호대학 신입생의 대학생활적응을 높이는 방안으로 학생들의 공감 능력을 높일 수 있는 교과 및 비교과 프로그램의 개발 및 적용이 필요함을 시사한다. 따라서, 향후 간호대학 신입생의 대학생활적응력과 관련된 다양한 변수를 포함한 반복연구가 필요하다.

에이즈교육이 대학생의 에이즈에 관한 지식과 태도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of AIDS Education on Knowledge and Attitude in College Freshman)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of AIDS education for college freshman. Method: This study was conducted using a pretest-posttest experimental design for one group. Subjects were selected from G college freshman(n=89) in I city. Data were collected from November 5 to December 3, 2004. An educational session took 50 minutes and was conducted once a week. Subjects were given a total of four-session AIDS education. Knowledge and attitude on AIDS was measured before and after the AIDS education using questionnaires. Results: There was a significant difference in the levels of knowledge and attitudes towards AIDS before and after the education. In particular, there was also a significant difference in the attitude subscales(personal and social attitudes). There was a significant positive correlation between the knowledge and attitude. In particular, there was also a significant positive correlation between the knowledge and attitude subscales(personal and social attitudes). Conclusion: The findings indicated that AIDS education is effective in order to encourage correct knowledge and attitudes towards AIDS for college freshman. Therefore, it is necessary to systematically and continuously AIDS education programs to keep healthy sex.

코로나19 시대 간호대학 신입생의 성장마인드셋과 교수지지가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Growth Mindset and Professor Support on School Life Adjustment of Nursing College Freshman in the Era of COVID-19)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 시대 간호대학 신입생의 성장마인드셋, 교수지지, 학교생활적응의 관계를 확인하고, 학교생활적응에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위한 서술적 연구이다. 연구 대상자는 G 광역시 소재 간호대학 신입생 248명으로 자료수집은 2022년 10월 4일에서 10월 31일까지 진행되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS/WIN 28.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson 상관계수, 다중회귀분석으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 학교생활적응은 성장마인드셋(r=.51, p<.000), 교수지지(r=.54, p<.000)와 유의한 양의 상관관계가 있었다. 간호대학 신입생의 학교생활적응에 영향을 미치는 요인은 교수지지(β=.38, p<.001), 전공만족도에서 매우 만족이라고 답한 대상자(β=.31, p<.001), 성장마인드셋(β=.26, p<.001), 전공만족도에서 만족이라고 답한 대상자(β=.16, p=.015), 여학생(β=.14, p=.005) 순으로 나타났으며, 이들 요인은 학교생활적응을 44.0% 설명하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 간호대학 신입생의 학교생활적응을 증진시키는 전략을 개발하는데 유용하게 활용될 것이다. 향후 대상자를 확대하여 간호대학 신입생의 학교생활적응을 설명할 수 있는 후속 연구를 제언한다.

신설 간호대학 신입생의 멘토링 프로그램 참여경험 (Experience of Mentoring Program in Newly Opened Nursing College Freshman)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to understand freshman's experience during a mentoring program at a newly opened nursing college. Methods: The study was qualitative research using focus groups. Data were collected through in-depth interviews performed from May 2 to May 30, 2011. The focus group interviews were conducted with 15 freshmen on their experiences with their mentors. The data were analyzed by the Colaizzi's method, in which the meaningful statements were extracted. Results: We identified the six categories from sixteen theme-clusters and thirty five themes: 1) meaningful relationship, 2) unexpected help, 3) realization, 4) solidification of one's determination, 5) establishment of a mentor image, and 6) wistful sense. Conclusion: The mentoring program was effective for a nursing college freshman to develop their vision and identity as a professional nursing.

간호대학 신입생의 통합성과 삶의 질 관계 (Correlation sense of coherence and quality of life among freshman nursing students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between sense of coherence and quality of life in the freshman nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 377 freshmen of nursing colleges. Data were collected through structured questionnaires of sense of coherence and quality of life. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and canonical correlation analysis. Result: There was static correlation between sense of coherence and quality of life in the freshman nursing students. And high correlation with quality of life were meaningfulness in sense of coherence and psychological domain in quality of life. Conclusion: These results were shown very important to improve meaningfulness in sense of coherence and psychological domain in quality of life to raise the quality of life in the freshman nursing students. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life, it is necessary to develop a nursing intervention program that focus on stress, and psychological health.

간호대학 신입생의 학업 스트레스, 우울 및 신체활동의 관계 (The Relationships among Freshman Nursing Students' Academic Stress, Depression, and Physical Activity)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to understand the relationships among freshman nursing students' academic stress, depression, and physical activity. Methods: In this descriptive study, Freshman students sampled from 4 nursing colleges were surveyed using a structured questionnaire on academic stress, depression and physical activity during the period from May to June, 2015. Results: A positive correlation was observed between academic stress and depression, but no correlation was found with physical activity. Of the subjects, 24.3% had a moderate or severe level of depression. Depression and physical activity were different according to exercise. Conclusion: The results of this study show the importance of reducing academic stress and depression for freshman nursing students. Thus, it is necessary to develop and apply depression prevention education programs to reduce academic stress and depression so that freshman nursing students lead to a healthy campus life.

간호대학 신입생의 학업적 자기효능감과 전공 만족도가 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Academic Self-Efficacy and Department Satisfaction on College Life Adaptation of Nursing Freshman)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학 신입생의 대학생활 적응, 학업적 자기효능감 및 전공 만족도 정도를 파악하고 각 변수들 간의 상관성 및 영향 요인을 파악하고자 하는 조사연구였다. 대상자는 일개 간호대학의 1학년 총 345명을 2015년 11월 30일부터 12월 4일까지 조사하였다. 대학생활 적응의 전체 평균평점은 $2.91({\pm}0.52)$점, 학업적 자기효능감은 $2.79({\pm}0.60)$점, 전공 만족도는 $3.55({\pm}0.47)$점이었다. 대학생활 적응은 남학생 군(p=.004), 입학동기가 높은 연봉 군(p=.027), 교우 관계에 매우 만족군(p<.001), 성적은 평점이 4.1이상 군(p=.005)에서, 학업적 자기효능감은 남학생 군(p=.040), 입학동기가 해외진출 군(p=.047), 향후 진로가 보건교사 군(p=.015), 교우 관계에 매우 만족 군(p=.014), 성적이 4.1이상 군(p<.001)에서, 전공만족도는 입학 동기가 높은 연봉 군(p=.004), 교우 관계에 매우 만족 군(p<.001), 성적이 4.1이상 군(p=.002)에서 통계적으로 차이가 있었다. 대학생활 적응은 학업적 자기효능감(p<.001), 전공 만족도(p<.001)와 학업적 자기효능감은 전공 만족도(p<.001)와 유의한 정적 상관관계를 나타냈다. 또한 전공 만족도가 대학생활 적응에 큰 영향력을 주는 것으로 나타났고 이러한 설명력은 23.1%였다. 결론적으로, 간호대학 신입생의 대학생활 적응은 학업적 자기효능감, 전공 만족도와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 간호대학 신입생의 대학생활 적응을 증진시키기 위해서는 학업적 자기효능감과 전공 만족도를 증진시킬 수 있는 교육 프로그램과 제도적인 접근전략의 개발과 반복 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

College Students' Perspectives on ChatGPT Integration in Higher Education and Relevant Ethical Considerations

  • In higher education, integration of technologies - particularly generative artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT - has become increasingly widespread, serving numerous purposes to its stakeholders. While users acknowledge the utility of technology, concerns have emerged regarding its misuses. The present study is designed to investigate authentic perspectives and opinions of college freshman students to critically address the relevant concerns, and suggest meaningful solutions. To this end, seven college freshman student participants were recruited in a four-days-long online questionnaire. Their responses indicated that the college student participants appear to find ChatGPT positive in terms of its practicality and usefulness. However, they also showed concerns about a few potential issues (i.e., possible plagiarism and copyright problems). With recommendations the student participants suggested to reduce the aforementioned problems, the article discusses implications of the findings, providing valuable insights into the balance between implementation of AI technologies and dealing with the associated challenges in higher education in general.

The Effects of Listening Comprehension and Decoding Skills on Spelling Achievement of EFL Freshman Students

  • Thirty six EFL freshman students at the College of Languages and Translation, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia were given a dictation, a listening comprehension test and a decoding test. The purpose of the study was to find out whether EFL freshmen students' spelling ability correlates with their listening comprehension and decoding skills. Data analysis showed that the typical EFL freshman student misspelled 41.5% of the words on the dictation, gave 49.5% correct responses on the listening comprehension test, and 52% correct responses on the decoding test. The median and mean scores showed that the subjects' spelling, listening and decoding achievement is low, which implied that the subjects were having spelling, listening comprehension and decoding difficulties. The students' spelling errors and correct listening comprehension and decoding responses revealed strong correlations between spelling ability, listening comprehension and decoding skills. This means that good spelling ability in EFL is related to good listening comprehension and good decoding skills. The better the listening comprehension and decoding abilities, the fewer the spelling errors. When listening comprehension and decoding skills are poor, spelling ability is also poor. Recommendations for spelling, listening and decoding instruction are given.
