As the manufacturing paradigm shifts, various collaborative robots are creating new markets. Demand for collaborative robots is increasing in all industries for the purpose of easy operation, productivity improvement, and replacement of manpower who do simple tasks compared to existing industrial robots. However, accidents frequently occur during work caused by collaborative robots in industrial sites, threatening the safety of workers. In order to construct an industrial site through robots in a human-centered environment, the safety of workers must be guaranteed, and there is a need to develop a collaborative robot guard system that provides reliable communication without the possibility of dispatch. It is necessary to double prevent accidents that occur within the working radius of cobots and reduce the risk of safety accidents through sensors and computer vision. We build a system based on OPC UA, an international protocol for communication with various industrial equipment, and propose a collaborative robot guard system through image analysis using ultrasonic sensors and CNN (Convolution Neural Network). The proposed system evaluates the possibility of robot control in an unsafe situation for a worker.

There are many researches in unmanned vehicles such as UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle), AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). In these researches, differential wheeled mobile robots are mainly used to develop the experimental stage algorithm because of the simplicity of modeling and control. Usually a commercial product used in the study, but in order to operate a commercial product to the restrictions because there would need to use a fixed protocol. Using the microprocessor makes the internal sensors(encoder and INS) and external sensors(ultrasonic sensors, infrared sensors) operate and to determine commands for robot operation. This paper propose a mobile robot design for suitable purpose.

Guaranteeing the safety of human workers around robots has become an important issue with the increasing demand for human-robot collaboration in industrial production lines. This study proposes a robot manipulator equipped with a counterbalancing mechanism that reduces the power of actuators required to drive the robot, thus keeping a human worker safer in a human-robot collaborative environment. A counterbalancing torque that exactly cancels out the gravitational torque in the proposed mechanism is generated by restoring the force of a spring in the counterbalancing mechanism. A prototype design and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
This paper studies how to combine devices such as monocular/stereo cameras, motors for panning/tilting, fisheye lens and convex mirrors, in order to solve vision-based robotic problems. To overcome the well-known trade-offs between optical properties, we present two mixed versions of the new systems. The first system is the robot photographer with a conventional pan/tilt perspective camera and fisheye lens. The second system is the omnidirectional detector for a complete 360-degree field-of-view surveillance system. We build an original device that combines a stereo-catadioptric camera and a pan/tilt stereo-perspective camera, and also apply it in the real environment. Compared to the previous systems, we show benefits of two proposed systems in aspects of maintaining both high-speed and high resolution with collaborative moving cameras and having enormous search space with hybrid configuration. The experimental results are provided to show the effectiveness of the mixing collaborative and hybrid systems.
As a primary technology of Industry 4.0, human-robot collaboration (HRC) requires additional measures to ensure worker safety. Previous studies on avoiding collisions between collaborative robots and workers mainly detect collisions based on sensors and cameras attached to the robot. This method requires complex algorithms to continuously track robots, people, and objects and has the disadvantage of not being able to respond quickly to changes in the work environment. The present study was conducted to implement a web-based platform that manages collaborative robots by recognizing the emotions of workers - specifically their perception of danger - in the collaborative process. To this end, we developed a web-based application that collects and stores emotion-related brain waves via a wearable device; a deep-learning model that extracts and classifies the characteristics of neutral, positive, and negative emotions; and an Internet-of-things (IoT) interface program that controls motor operation according to classified emotions. We conducted a comparative analysis of our system's performance using a public open dataset and a dataset collected through actual measurement, achieving validation accuracies of 96.8% and 70.7%, respectively.

Our final goal is to implement nursing robots that can recognize patient's faces and their medicine on prescription. They can help patients to take medicine on time and prevent its abuse for recovering their health soon. As the first step, we proposed a medicine classifier with a low computational network that is able to run on embedded PCs without GPU in order to be applied to universal nursing robots. We confirm that our proposed model called MedicineNet achieves an 99.99% accuracy performance for classifying 15 kinds of medicines and background images. Moreover, we realize that the calculation time of our MedicineNet is about 8 times faster than EfficientNet-B0 which is well known as ImageNet classification with the high performance and the best computational efficiency.

In this study, we proposed duty executions to confine a robot in a specific place with multiple robots. The proposed method involved the use of a role classifier for assigning labor roles, behavior selector for each robot, and a collaboration manager for handling complex situations. Further, we verified the validity of the proposed method by performing simulations to confine a robot in the specific location by using multiple robots.

Recently, various fault diagnosis studies are being conducted utilizing data from collaborative robots. Existing studies performing fault diagnosis on collaborative robots use static data collected based on the assumed operation of predefined devices. Therefore, the fault diagnosis model has a limitation of increasing dependency on the learned data patterns. Additionally, there is a limitation in that a diagnosis reflecting the characteristics of collaborative robots operating with multiple joints could not be conducted due to experiments using a single motor. This paper proposes an LSTM diagnostic model that can overcome these two limitations. The proposed method selects representative normal patterns using the correlation analysis of vibration and current data in single-axis and multi-axis work environments, and generates residual patterns through differences from the normal representative patterns. An LSTM model that can perform gear wear diagnosis for each axis is created using the generated residual patterns as inputs. This fault diagnosis model can not only reduce the dependence on the model's learning data patterns through representative patterns for each operation, but also diagnose faults occurring during multi-axis operation. Finally, reflecting both internal and external data characteristics, the fault diagnosis performance was improved, showing a high diagnostic performance of 98.57%.

A collaborative robot(Cobot) is one of the production systems presented in the 4th industrial revolution and are systems that can maximize efficiency by combining the exquisite hand skills of workers and the ability of simple repetitive tasks of robots. Also, research on the development of an efficient interface method between the worker and the robot is continuously progressing along with the solution to the safety problem arising from the sharing of the workspace. In this study, a method for controlling the robot by recognizing the worker's hand signal was presented to enhance the convenience and concentration of the worker, and the safety of the worker was secured by introducing the concept of a safety zone. Various technologies such as robot control, PLC, image processing, machine learning, and ROS were used to implement this. In addition, the roles and interface methods of the proposed technologies were defined and presented for using educational media. Students can build and adjust the educational media system by linking the introduced various technologies. Therefore, there is an excellent advantage in recognizing the necessity of the technology required in the field and inducing in-depth learning about it. In addition, presenting a problem and then seeking a way to solve it on their own can lead to self-directed learning. Through this, students can learn key technologies of the 4th industrial revolution and improve their ability to solve various problems.
The CBS and the AEAS functionalities are defined in cellular systems and T-DMB systems, respectively. In the case that communication facilities are disabled in indoor environments, it is impossible for the residents to receive the emergency messages. In this paper, a novel collaborative technology of intelligent mobile robots is proposed, which relies on cooperative communications among the intelligent mobile robots. In order to improve the performance, the intelligent mobile robots exploit their location information. Simulation results confirm that the proposed method is very suitable for reliable emergency alert broadcast.
