Currently, as a consequence of PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System) implementation many hospitals are replacing conventional film-type interpretations of diagnostic medical images with new digital-format interpretations that can also be saved, and retrieve However, the big limitation in PACS is considered to be the lack of mobility. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal communication packet size. This was done by considering the terms occurred in the wireless communication. After encoding medical image using JPGE2000 image compression method, This method embodied auto-error correction technique preventing the loss of packets occurred during wireless communication. A PC class server, with capabilities to load, collect data, save images, and connect with other network, was installed. Image data were compressed using JPEG2000 algorithm which supports the capability of high energy density and compression ratio, to communicate through a wireless network. Image data were also transmitted in block units coeded by JPEG2000 to prevent the loss of the packets in a wireless network. When JPGE2000 image data were decoded in a PUA (Personal Digital Assistant), it was instantaneous for a MR (Magnetic Resonance) head image of 256${\times}$256 pixels, while it took approximately 5 seconds to decode a CR (Computed Radiography) chest image of 800${\times}$790 pixels. In the transmission of the image data using a CDMA 1X module (Code-Division Multiple Access 1st Generation), 256 byte/sec was considered a stable transmission rate, but packets were lost in the intervals at the transmission rate of 1Kbyte/sec. However, even with a transmission rate above 1 Kbyte/sec, packets were not lost in wireless LAN. Current PACS are not compatible with wireless networks. because it does not have an interface between wired and wireless. Thus, the mobile JPEG2000 image viewing system was developed in order to complement mobility-a limitation in PACS. Moreover, the weak-connections of the wireless network was enhanced by re-transmitting image data within a limitations The results of this study are expected to play an interface role between the current wired-networks PACS and the mobile devices.
Purpose: This paper is about development and design of the 1x optical path relay adapter for the beam splitting prism by us the day & night scope. Methods: To product the day & night scope by using the beam splitting prism and the commercial zoom optical system with the C-mount lens barrel structure, the optical path relay adapter, which doesn't change the image size of the zoom optical system and can stretch the position of the image-forming surface, is needed. We could design the 1x optical path relay adapter by using the CodeV program in which the Lens Module mode is offered. Results: We could design the optical path relay adapter used in the day&night scope with the beam splitting prism, of which characteristics have the EFL of -56.0 mm, the magnification of +1.0x, the distance from the 1st lens surface to the last lens surface of about 20.4 mm. The resolution of this system is characterized by 30 lp/mm at 40% MTF. This is enough to accommodate the designed optical path relay adapter can overcome the resolution of the 3rd generation of image intesifier tubes. Conclusions: By designing and applying the optical path relay adapter of which optical characteristics have the EFL of -56.0 mm, the magnification of +1.0x, the distance from the 1st lens surface to the last lens surface of about 20.4 mm, and the resolution of 30 lp/mm at 40% MTF, we could develop the new type day&night scope consisting of the beam splitting, the commercial zoom optical system with the C-mount lens barrel structure, and the 3rd generation of image intesifier tubes.

With increases in recent security requirements, biometric technology such as fingerprints, faces and iris recognitions have been widely used in many applications including door access control, personal authentication for computers, internet banking, automatic teller machines and border-crossing controls. Finger vein recognition uses the unique patterns of finger veins in order to identify individuals at a high level of accuracy. This paper proposes new device and methods for touchless finger vein recognition. This research presents the following five advantages compared to previous works. First, by using a minimal guiding structure for the finger tip, side and the back of finger, we were able to obtain touchless finger vein images without causing much inconvenience to user. Second, by using a hot mirror, which was slanted at the angle of 45 degrees in front of the camera, we were able to reduce the depth of the capturing device. Consequently, it would be possible to use the device in many applications having size limitations such as mobile phones. Third, we used the holistic texture information of the finger veins based on a LBP (Local Binary Pattern) without needing to extract accurate finger vein regions. By using this method, we were able to reduce the effect of non-uniform illumination including shaded and highly saturated areas. Fourth, we enhanced recognition performance by excluding non-finger vein regions. Fifth, when matching the extracted finger vein code with the enrolled one, by using the bit-shift in both the horizontal and vertical directions, we could reduce the authentic variations caused by the translation and rotation of finger. Experimental results showed that the EER (Equal Error Rate) was 0.07423% and the total processing time was 91.4ms.

Object : The goals of radiosurgery include preservation of neurological function and prevention of tumor growth. We document the results of gamma-knife radio-surgery for vestibular schwannoma. Method & Object : Eighty-two patients underwent stereotactic radiosurgery for an vestibular schwannoma from October, 1994 to December, 2000. Sixty-five of these patients were followed up for radiological and clinical evaluation. As pregamma-knife modality, surgical resection were done in 23 patients, and V-P shunt in 2 patients. Initial symptoms were headache(n=45), dizziness(n=16), tinnitus(n=17). While normal facial function(House-Brackmann grade 1) was present in 48 patients(73.8%), other patients showed grade 2 function in 8, grade 3 function in 7,and grade 4 function in 2. The Gardner/Robertson scale was used to code hearing function. Male to female ratio was 1:3. Mean tumor volume was $7.98cm^3$. Mean dose delivered to the tumor margin was 14.2Gy,and mean maximal dose was 28.3Gy. Results : Mean follow-up duration of 19.9 months. Thirty-five showed decrease(53.8%) in size, 19 patients(29.2%) stationary, 3(4.6%) initial decrease follow up increase, 5(7.6%) initial increase follow up decrease, and 59 patients (90.8%) were well controlled. Two patients experienced transient facial neuropathy, one transient trigeminal neuropathy, and one transient hearing deterioration. After gamma-knife radiosurgery, ventriculoperitoneal shunt was done in 4 patients. Conclusions : Gamma-knife radiosurgery can be used to treat postoperative residual tumors as well as in patients with concomitant medical problems in patients with preserved hearing function. Gamma-knife radiosurgery is safe and effective method to treat small, medium sized(less than 3cm in extracanalicular diameter), intracanalicular vestibular schwannoma, associated with low rate of cranial neuropathy.

Supercomputer that shares limited resources to multiple users needs a way to optimize the execution of application. For this, it is useful for system administrators to get prior information and hint about the applications to be executed. In most high-performance computing system operations, system administrators strive to increase system productivity by receiving information about execution duration and resource requirements from users when executing tasks. They are also using profiling techniques that generates the necessary information using statistics such as system usage to increase system utilization. In a previous study, we have proposed a scheduling optimization technique by developing a hardware performance counter-based profiling technique that enables characterization of applications without further understanding of the source code. In this paper, we constructed a profiling testbed cluster to support optimal execution of the supercomputer and experimented with the scalability of the profiling method to analyze application characteristics in the built cluster environment. Also, we experimented that the profiling method can be utilized in actual scheduling optimization with scalability even if the application class is reduced or the number of nodes for profiling is minimized. Even though the number of nodes used for profiling was reduced to 1/4, the execution time of the application increased by 1.08% compared to profiling using all nodes, and the scheduling optimization performance improved by up to 37% compared to sequential execution. In addition, profiling by reducing the size of the problem resulted in a quarter of the cost of collecting profiling data and a performance improvement of up to 35%.

Current design codes such as AASHTO LRFD or Korean Highway Bridge Design Code recommend of using static force for designing bridge column against vehicle collisions. However, there was an accident that the bridge was collapsed shortly after vehicle impact on bridge pier in Nebraska(near Big Spring, 2003). It was found that the second largest cause of bridge collapse is collision after hydraulic causes. It can be thought that the possibility of truck-bridge collision are getting increasing as the size of truck increases and traffic condition are becoming improved. However, dynamic behavior under the impact loading seldom considered in bridge design procedure due to computational cost and time. In this study, in order to reduce the computational cost for dynamic impact analysis, model reduction method was developed. Obtained results of residual displacement were compared with the results of direct impact simulations.

The Quality of municipal solid waste incineration ash (incineration ash) was analyzed for the purpose of the reusing for concrete material. The folwability and strength properties of concrete mixed with incinerator ash were investigated. CaO component was included more than 50% in chemical component of incinerator ash, mean size of 50% accumulated particle distribution of incinerator ash was about $25{\mu}m$. Particle shape of incinerator ash ($IA_1$) was massed the round shape with fine particle, particle shape of incinerator ash ($IA_2$) was piled up the sheet shape according to manufacture procedure. The Quality of concrete was effected by use of incinerator ash. When the incinerator Ash ($IA_2$) was used, slum of concrete was increased and dosage of high range water reducing agent was reduced. However, strength development of concrete was decreased. Dosage of high range water reducing agent was increased by combined use of incinerator ash ($IA_2$) and diatomite powder, but strength development of concrete was improved. Ratio of compressive strength and tensile strength was in the range 85%~105% of CEB-FIP model code.

IEEE 802.15.4 is the one of the protocols for radio communication in a personal area network. Because of low cost and low power communication for IoT communication, it requires the highest optimization level in the implementation. Recently, the studies of location aware algorithm based on IEEE802.15.4 standard has been achieved. Location estimation is performed basically in equal consideration of reference node information and blind node information. However, an error is not calculated in this algorithm despite the fact that the coordinates of the estimated location of the blind node include an error. In this paper, we enhanced a conventual maximum likelihood estimation using weighted coefficient and implement the hardwired location aware engine for small code size and low power consumption. On the field test using test-beds, the suggested hardware based location awareness method results better accuracy by 10 percents and reduces both calculation and memory access by 30 percents, which improves the systems power consumption.

In this paper, we propose a new addressing mode, which can be used for programmable image processor to perform image-processing algorithms effectively. Conventional addressing modes are suitable for one-dimensional data processing such as voice, but the proposed addressing mode consider two-dimensional characteristics of image data. The proposed instruction for two-dimensional addressing requires two operands to specify a pixel and doesn't require any change of memory architecture. The proposed two-dimensional addressing mode for image processor has the following advantages. The proposed instruction combines several instructions to load a pixel data from an external memory to a register. Hence, the proposed instruction reduces required code size so that it satisfies high performance and low power requirements of image processor. In addition, it uses inherent two-dimensional characteristics of image data and offers user-friendly instruction to assembler programmer The proposed two-dimensional addressing mode is applicable to DSP, media processor, graphic device, and so on. In this paper, we propose a new concept of two-dimensional addressing mode and an efficient hardware implementation method of it.

In this paper, FSS(Frequency Selective Surface) using defect mode characteristic is proposed. The unit cell using defect mode characteristic of the proposed FSS is offered lower resonant frequency in the same cell size. The number of suitable array is optimized 13 by 13. Also, the patch antennas operated in WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) Tx band and Rx band are designed for the comparison. The gain value of proposed FSS-1 complex structure (the patch antenna of Tx band and FSS) is improved 3.3 dB from 9.98 dBi to 13.28 dBi in Tx band. The gain value of proposed FSS-2 complex structure(the patch antenna of Rx band and FSS) is improved 5.53 dB from 9.81 dBi to 15.34 dBi in Rx band. Also the measured impedance bandwidth($VSWR{\leq}2$) of manufactured $13{\times}13$ array antenna is from 337 MHz(1.87 to 2.21 GHz). The measured radiation gain is 11.39 dBi(1.94 GHz), 13.11 dBi(2.05 GHz), 11.09 dBi(2.14 GHz). The measured radiation efficiency is 81 %. Because the proposed FSS structure has more higher gain, it will be applied to antenna of WCDMA repeater system.
