A Multiple-Disseminators Determining Mechanism for Fast Code Dissemination in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 빠른 코드분배를 위한 다수분배자 선정 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a multiple-disseminators determining mechanism for Efficient Code Dissemination with low-delay(ECoDi) for wireless sensor networks (WSN). Code dissemination is in the spotlight as an important research issue since sensor nodes are necessary for updating new software remotely or fixing bugs dynamically. In particular, the time factor for code dissemination is the most important factor in order that the normal operation of nodes can be continuously performed as soon as finishing the dissemination. For this factor, ECoDi determines the set of disseminators through regression analysis based on the size of distributed code and the time of past unicasts and broadcasts. Then it transmits the entire code as a unicast to multiple disseminators, and the disseminators broadcast the code to the remaining neighbor nodes. Performance results on a testbed show that ECoDi reduces dissemination time significantly compared to a conventional scheme.

  • The sensor network is highlighted because it is one of the essentialbase networks in the ubiquitous computing realization. Researches for providing security and efficiency are being perfomed in the various isuues because of the characteristics of sensor nodes and sensor networks. Recently, code dissemination mechanism is recognized as an important research issue since sensor nodes are in the need of updating new software or the need of modifying bugs in dynamically. Generally lots of nodes are in the sensor networks and they are ramdomly deployed in hostile environments. Thus it is especially important that the code dissemination from the base station to nodes should be processed efficienctly and securely. In this paper, we check up the recent existing code dissemination mechanisms, and comparatively analyze the requirements of the code dissemination and the characteristicsof existing mechanisms. Through the analysis, we present future research issues for the code dissemination area. This research can expedite the research on the code dissemination and improve the usability of sensor networks with efficiency and security.

Improved Reliability-Based Iterative Decoding of LDPC Codes Based on Dynamic Threshold

  • A serial concatenated decoding algorithm with dynamic threshold is proposed for low-density parity-check codes with short and medium code lengths. The proposed approach uses a dynamic threshold to select a decoding result from belief propagation decoding and order statistic decoding, which improves the performance of the decoder at a negligible cost. Simulation results show that, under a high SNR region, the proposed concatenated decoder performs better than a serial concatenated decoder without threshold with an Eb/N0 gain of above 0.1 dB.

  • The article is devoted to the study of the issue of liability for the dissemination of inaccurate information on the Internet. The article emphasizes that now the public opinion of socially active segments of the population is mainly formed on the basis of not critical but subjective ("consumer") analysis of the received information. The modern realities show that the main source of its origin is the Internet: electronic media and, above all, the relevant social networks. The problem of dissemination by the mass media of inaccurate information obtained via the Internet is solved; it is seen in bringing the laws of Ukraine, which regulate public relations regarding the dissemination of information, into compliance with the Civil Code of Ukraine. The issues of development and implementation of new legislative acts aimed at regulating the status of subjects of informational relations on the Internet and establishing the grounds for their liability are also investigated.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that can be used to provide the national standard time for the general public with ease by using the self-implemented independent time-code generator for transmitting standard time information through both the wired and the wireless networks. The newly proposed time code is different from conventional methods in the point that it has a structural advantage of having an ability of obtaining reliable data by repeatedly transmitting the same information. We observe that it is sufficiently possible to transmit the time information with a microsecond level because measurement result shows that the system uncertainty is about few nanosecond of time-error fluctuation through the self characteristic measurement of total system including the time-code generator and decoder system receiving time-information.

A High Speed Code Dissemination Protocol for Software Update in Wireless Sensor Network (무선 센서 네트워크상의 소프트웨어 업데이트를 위한 고속 코드 전파 프로토콜)

  • The code propagation is one of the most important technic for software update in wireless sensor networks. This paper presents a new scheme for code propagation using network coding. The proposed code propagation method roughly shows 20$\sim$25% performance improvement according to network environments in terms of the number of data exchange compared with the previously proposed pipelining scheme. As a result, we can efficiently perform the software update from the viewpoint of speed, energy, and network congestion when the proposed code propagation system is applied. In addition, the proposed system solves the overhearing problems of network coding such as the loss of original messages and decoding error using the predefined message. Therefore, our system allows a software update system to exchange reliable data in wireless sensor networks.

  • As wireless sensor network are being deployed in a wide variety of application areas, the number of sensor nodes in a sensor filed becomes larger and larger. In the past, ISP (In-System Programming) method have been generally used for code update but the large number of sensor nodes requires a new code update method called network reprogramming. There are many challenging issues for network reprogramming since it can make an impact on the network lifetime. In this paper, a new sender selection scheme for network reprogramming protocol is proposed to decrease energy consumption for code update by minimizing overlapped area between sender nodes and reducing data contention. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the amount of message traffic and the overall data transmission time.

  • The digital age start in earnest with the widespread use of the Internet. As a digital product, virtual idols bring new value to the design and dissemination of commercial brand images. "Luo Tianyi" is the world's first avatar and VOCALOID voice bank of Chinese. It has a large number of fans in China and is widely used in brand promotion. Therefore, "Luo Tianyi" is taken as the research object. Initially, we investigated the virtual idols through books, literature on the internet and other materials. Then we discussed semiotics and theories related to culture code brand design methodology (CCBD). After that, putting the above theories into practice, combined with brand design cases, we analyzed the strategy of virtual idols in brand promotion and dissemination, at last, we have the conclusion as followed. The results show that the virtual idols, visual symbol of "Luo Tianyi" can express the Index and Symbol corresponding to the brand information according to the characteristics of the brand. As an image of cultural code, "Luo Tianyi" can present three visual images at the same time, which are contemporary, traditional and future. In addition, these three visual images are presented in a strong and weak combination, which has a positive impact on the visual communication of the brand.

An Efficient Path Maintaining Scheme in the Grid Based Wireless Sensor Networks with a Mobile Sink Node (모바일 싱크를 갖는 무선 센서 네트워크에서 효율적인 데이터 전송경로 유지 방법)

  • This paper proposes an efficient path maintaining scheme in the grid based wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme provides the shortest path from a source node to a mobile sink node in a re-established dissemination path. The shortest path can save energy consumption to deliver data to the destination. The proposed scheme can also reduce the cost for path maintenance by reusing the existing path. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces the path maintenance cost by 60% compared to the conventional schemes.

  • In IP-based wireless sensor networks (WSNs), it might be necessary to distribute application updates to the sensor nodes in order to fix bugs or add new functionality. However, physical access to nodes is in many cases extremely limited following deployment. Therefore, network reprogramming protocols have recently emerged as a way to distribute application updates without requiring physical access to sensor nodes. In order to solve the network reprogramming problem over the air interface, this thesis presents a new scheme for new update code propagation using fragmentation scheme and network coding. The proposed code propagation method roughly shows reduced performance improvement in terms of the number of data exchange compared with the previously proposed pipelining scheme. Further, It is shows enhanced reliability for update code propagation and reduced overhead in terms of the number of data exchange. As a result, we can efficiently perform the software update from the viewpoint of speed, energy, and network congestion when the proposed code propagation system is applied. In addition, the proposed system solves overhearing problems of network coding such as the loss of original messages and decoding error using the predefined message.
