Thin Film Growth and Evaluation Method for Conventional Co-Cr Based Perpendicular Magnetic Recording Media: Problems and New Solutions

  • We proposed a novel method to evaluate the magnetic properties of the initial layer and the columnar structure separately for CoCr-based perpendicular recording media. We show that the thickness of the initial layer and the intrinsic magnetocrystalline anisotropy of columnar structure can be quantitatively evaluated using the plotted product of perpendicular anisotropy to magnetic film thickness versus magnetic film thickness ($K_{u{\bot}}^{ex{p.}}$ $\times$ d$_{mag.}$ vs. d$_{mag.}$ plot). Based on the analyses, it is found that: (1) compared with CoCrPtTa media, CoCrPtB media have relatively thin initial layer, and have fine grains with homogeneous columnar structure with c-plane crystallographic orientation; (2) CoCrPtB media can be grown epitaxially on Ru or CoCr/C intermediate layer, and as the result, the magnetic properties of the media within thin thickness region of d$_{mag.}$ $\leq$ 20 nm is significantly improved; (3) the key issue of material investigation for CoCr-based perpendicular recording media will be focused on how to fabricate c-plane-oriented columnar grains well isolated with nonmagnetic substance in epitaxial-growth media, while maintaining the thermal stability of the media.

  • Texture imaging, which means texture image creation by co-occurrence relation, has been known as one of useful image analysis methodologies. For this purpose, most commercial remote sensing software provides texture analysis function named GLCM (Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix). In this study, texture-imaging program for GLCM algorithm is newly implemented in the MS Visual IDE environment. While, additional texture imaging modules based on GLDV (Grey Level Difference Vector) are contained in this program. As for GLCM/GLDV texture variables, it composed of six types of second order texture function in the several quantization levels of 2(binary image), 8, and 16: Homogeneity, Dissimilarity, Energy, Entropy, Angular Second Moment, and Contrast. As for co-occurrence directionality, four directions are provided as $E-W(0^{\circ}),\;N-E(45^{\circ}),\;S-W(135^{\circ}),\;and\;N-S(90^{\circ}),$ and W-E direction is also considered in the negative direction of E- W direction. While, two direction modes are provided in this program: Omni-mode and Circular mode. Omni-mode is to compute all direction to avoid directionality problem, and circular direction is to compute texture variables by circular direction surrounding target pixel. At the second phase of this study, some examples with artificial image and actual satellite imagery are carried out to demonstrate effectiveness of texture imaging or to help texture image interpretation. As the reference, most previous studies related to texture image analysis have been used for the classification purpose, but this study aims at the creation and general uses of texture image for urban remote sensing.

  • 본 논문에서는 오픈마켓에서의 여행상품을 구입하기 전에 자신의 여행 기간을 입력하고 각 여행상품을 자신의 스케줄에 등록하여 개인에게 최적화된 여행 스케줄을 작성할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다. 그리고 개인화된 여행스케줄 생성을 위한 추천시스템은 설문형식의 사전 설정으로 개인이 선호하는 여행지를 선택하고 사용자와 유사한 성향을 지닌 기존 사용자들의 선호 콘텐츠를 추천하며, 여행상품 큐레이션 지원을 위해 현재 사용자의 상품페이지 방문패턴의 분석과 고객의 성향을 계량화한다.

Comparative Molecular Similarity Indices Analysis (CoMSIA) on the Melanogenesis Inhibitory Activities of Alkyl-3,4-dihydroxy- benzoate and N-alkyl-3,4-dihydroxybenzamide Derivatives.

  • To find a new substance with superior melanogenesis inhibitory activity, the bioactivities of alkyl-3,4-dihydroxy-5-substituted benzoate (A) and N-alkyl-3,4-dihydroxy-5-substituted benzamide (B) derivatives as substrate of tyrosinase were measured in mouse melanoma cells. And the bioactivities analyzed using comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA). From the CoMSIA model, when cross-validation value (q$^2$) is 0.713 at four components, the pearson correlation coefficient ($r^2$) is 0.900. Unknown compounds were predicted, using QSAR analyzed results from the CoMSIA methods. Excellent agreement was obtained between the measured and the predicted bioactivities of unknown compounds. As the results of prediction from CoMSIA, we could conclude that the bioactivities were increased from pl$_{50}$=3.18-4.80 to above 5.17 by creation of 6-methylheptyl, n-pentylphenyl and 2-hydroxypentylphenyl group etc,.,.

  • Recently many countries around the world are actively promoting smart city projects to address various urban problems such as traffic congestion, housing shortage, and energy scarcity. Due to development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the development of a smart city with sustainability, convenience, and environment-friendliness was enabled through the effective control and reuse of urban resources. The purpose of this study is to analyze the technical trends of IoT and present a development plan for smart city which is one of the applications of the IoT. To this end, the news articles of the Electronic Times between 2013 and 2015were analyzed using the text mining technique and smart city development cases of other countries were investigated. The analysis results revealed the close relationships of big data, cloud, platforms, and sensors with smart city. For the successful development of a smart city, first, all the interested parties in the city must work together to create new values throughout the entire process of value chain. Second, they must utilize big data and disclose public data more actively than they are doing now. This study has made academic contribution in that it has presented a big data analysis method and stimulated follow-up studies. For the practical contribution, the results of this study provided useful data for the policy making of local governments and administrative agencies for smart city development. This study may have limitations in the incorporation of the total trends because only the news articles of the Electronic Times were selected to analyze the technical trends of the IoT.

A New HPLC-analytical Method for Total Sphingosine Contents as an Indirect Index for the Ganglioside Contents of Deer Antlers

  • Routinely applicable HPLC assay procedures for the ganglioside content in various deer antler preparations were established through the creation of a UV-absorbing chromophoric substance - trans-${\alpha},{\beta}$-unsaturated-hexadecene-aldehyde - from the sphingosine moiety in ganglioside molecules by two step chemical reactions. In order to guarantee the assay's accuracy and sensitivity, the HPLC-assay procedure adopted internal reference procedures by mixing cis-${\alpha},{\beta}$-unsaturated-hexadecene aldehyde[V] or cis-3-heptadecene- 1,2-diol[IV] to assay samples. The internal reference compound [IV] or [V] was synthesized in our laboratory starting from mannitol-diacetonide through three or four step organic reactions. This new HPLC-assay procedure was successfully applied to deer antler extracts with good dose-dependent calibration curves at the picomole level of gangliosides.

  • Recently, the FPD industry has faced the limit in market growth due to lack of new growth engine as a replacement of television. With sluggish market demand deepened by global economic crisis and persistent concern over panel oversupply, growth of the panel market has sharply slowed down, and profitability has been eroded. This also has tremendous effect on related industries including component, material and machine industries, spreading a sense of crisis across the whole FPD industry. Under this circumstance, for the FPD industry to take off once again, all involved in the FPD industry must cooperate and come up with innovative ideas, and identify the driving force to realize turbo-charged growth.

  • To search and development a new material with superior melanogenesis inhibitory activity, the bioactivities (obs. pl$_{50}$) of alkyl-3,4-dihydroxybenzoyl esters and N-alkyl-3,4-dihydroxybenz-oyl amides as substrate molecules were measured in mouse melanoma cells. And also, we have studied that 3-D QSARs (3 dimensional Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships) between molecular interaction field of substrates and the bioactivities were analyzed using CoMFA (Comparative Molecular Field Analyses) method. When cross-validation value (q$^2$) is 0.68 at 3 components, the Pearson correlation coefficient ($r^2$) is 0.900. From the basis on the findings, the model was appeared by the contour map such as steric field and electrostatic field relationships between quantitative structure and the bioactivity of the various substrate derivatives. Measured bioactivities (obs. pl$_{50}$) of unknown compounds are very similar to predicted activity (pred. pl$_{50}$) according to the CoMFA model. As the results of prediction, we could conclude that the bioactivities were increased by creation of R$_1$ substitution of 5,5-dime-thylhexoxy, 6,6-dimethylheptyl, 1-amino-6,6-dimethylheptyl group etc and R$_2$ substitution of hydroxy, methyl, methoxy group etc.p etc.

  • This research project is a program promoted to seek diversification of domestic radioactive waste analysis institutions, and seeks public development, win-win cooperation, and cooperation between the entrusted institution and the entrusted institution. Accordingly, the entrusted institution established a standard analysis procedure for establishing a quality control system for radioactivity analysis, establishing a radiation control zone, obtaining KOLAS accreditation, and performing proficiency tests, which are the performance ranges requested by the entrusted institution, and intersecting the radioactive isotope waste generated at the actual site. Verification was performed to confirm the analysis quality. In addition, facilities and equipment for radioactivity analysis were supplemented and expanded, and the basic technology foundation and technical skills were secured through securing professional technicians and education/training. It is judged that the entrusted institution will contribute to securing radiation safety through the smooth execution of treatment, disposal, and transportation through value creation and analysis of radioactive waste generated by radioactive isotope-using institutions (research institutes, hospitals, industries, etc.) by succeeding in this research project do.

  • This study was conducted to identify various types of activities of payment contract for ecosystem services. As supporting services, 12 types of activities were derived: fallow, eco-friendly crop cultivation, shelter creation management, etc. As regulating services, 5 types of activities were derived: stream environment purification, creation and management of riparian vegetation, creation and management of forests for responding to climate change, etc. As cultural services, five types of activities were derived: creation and management of landscape forests, creation and management of ecological trails, managing ecosystem conservation, etc.
