${Al_2}{O_3}$-C계 내화물에서 표면개질된 탄소의 산화특성 (Antioxidation Characteristics of Surface-Modified Carbon in ${Al_2}{O_3}$-C Refractory)

  • Antioxidation characteristics of carbon at high temperature with the co-addition of Al and Si powder in Al2O3-C system refractory were analyzed. The use of surface-modified phosphate carbon as a starting material was found to be very effective in improving the mixing effect of raw materials and antioxidation behavior of carbon. In particular, this effect was dominant at higher temperatures than 130$0^{\circ}C$.

제주도 신양리층에서 산출하는 Motukoreaite와 Quintinite (Motukoreaite and Quintinite-3T from Sinyangri Formation, Jeju Island, Korea)

  • 제주도의 화산쇄설성 퇴적암인 신양리층에서 산출되는 motukoreaite와 quintinite-3T를 보고한다. 두 광물은 Mg-Al 층상복수산화물로서 현무암 유리질 입자 사이를 충전하는 극미립판상 입자들의 구상 또는 포도상 집합체로 산출된다. Quintinite-3T의 집합체 외각에 motukoreaite의 판상 입자들이 과성장하여 피복하였다. 두 광물의 X선회절자료와 화학조성은 대체로 문헌에 보고된 값들과 유사하지만, motukoreaite의 Mg/Al 비는 보고된 값보다 조금 크다. 전자현미화학 분석 값으로부터 구한 motukoreaite와 quintinite-3T의 구조식은 각각 $Na_{1.6}Ca_{0.1}Mg_{40.7}Al_{20.7}Si_{0.9}(CO_3)_{13.6}(SO_4)_{7.4}(OH)_{108}56H_2O$$Mg_{3.7}Al_{1.9}Si_{0.2}(OH)_{12}(CO_3)_{0.8}(SO_4)_{0.2}3H_2O$이다. 두 광물은 얕은 바다에 퇴적된 현무암 유리질 입자들이 해수와 반응하여 생성 되었으며, 해저 환경에서 화산쇄설성 퇴적물의 교결 및 고화작용에 기여하였다.

산업부산물 활용을 위한 고Al2O3 함량 OPC 클링커의 소성성 및 반응성에 관한 연구 (Study on Burnability and Reactivity of High Al2O3 Content OPC Clinker for the Use of Industrial Waste)

  • 본 연구에서는 클링커의 고Al2O3화를 통한 에너지 절감형 시멘트 제조 가능성을 확인하기 위해, Al2O3 함량이 높은 OPC 조합원료를 실험실 전기로에서 소성하여 C3A 함량이 높은 클링커를 제조한 후 XRD 리트벨트 분석 및 광학 현미경을 통해 클링커의 소성성을 평가하고, 제조된 클링커에 혼합재를 첨가하여 얻어진 시멘트의 미소수화열 및 압축강도 측정을 통해 시멘트 반응성을 평가하고자 하였다. 그 결과 Al2O3 함량을 일반 OPC보다 증가시켜 제조한 시멘트는 OPC에 비해 소성성이 뛰어나 시멘트 제조 에너지 절감에 기여할 수 있으며, OPC에 비해 C3A(alite) 광물의 함량이 감소하였음에도 불구하고 압축강도가 오히려 향상되는 등 긍정적으로 작용할 수 있다. 유동성 저하, 수화열 증가와 같은 문제에 대해서도 석고 첨가량 및 분말도 조정, 혼합재 첨가와 같은 방법으로 제어할 수 있을 것으로 기대되어 적극적인 연구가 필요하다.

Effect of $Al_2O_3/Fe$ Ratio on Characteristics of Carbon Nanotubes Prepared by Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition

  • The effect of compositions of $Al_2O_3$ in the mixed $Fe/Al_2O_3$ catalysts on the synthetic behaviors of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) process was investigated in wide range of the mixture ratios of support materials. CNTs were synthesized with $Fe/Al_2O_3$ catalysis under the condition of 40 min in synthetic time, and 923 K of synthetic temperature using $C_2H_4$ and $H_2$ as synthetic and carrier gas, respectively. The carbon yield with the content of $Al_2O_3$ showed in a parabolic curve and the maximum carbon yield was 40 wt.% of $Al_2O_3$. As the mixture ratio of $Al_2O_3$ increased, decreasing tendency was observed in the diameter of CNTs. Specific surface areas of CNTs were increased with the increase of the mixture ratio of $Al_2O_3$.

Ag-Cu/$Al_2O_3$ 복합촉매를 이용한 저온에서의 $NH_3$ 산화 ($NH_3$ oxidation using Ag-Cu/$Al_2O_3$ composite catalyst at low temperature)

  • This study was performed to obtain high conversion efficiency of $NH_3$ and minimize generation of nitrogen oxides using metal-supported catalyst with Ag : Cu ratio. Through structural analysis of the prepared catalyst with Ag : Cu ratio ((10-x)Ag-xCu ($0{\leq}x{\leq}6$)), it was confirmed that the specific surface area was decrease with increasing metal content. A prepared catalysts showed Type II adsorption isotherms regardless of the ratio Ag : Cu of metal content, and crystalline phase of $Ag_2O$, CuO and $CuAl_2O$ was observed by XRD analysis. In the low temperature($150{\sim}200^{\circ}C$), a conversion efficiency of AC_10 recorded the highest(98%), whereas AC_5 (Ag : Cu = 5 : 5) also showed good conversion efficiency(93.8%). However, in the high temperature range, the amounts of by-products(NO, $NO_2$) formed with AC_5 was lower than that of AC_10. From these results, It is concluded that AC_5 is more environmentally and economically suitable.

The Properties of Mn, Ni, and Al Doped Cobalt Ferrites Grown by Sol-Gel Method

  • The manganese-, nickel-, and aluminum-doped cobalt ferrite powders, $Mn_{0.2}Co_{0.8}Fe_2O_4$, $Ni_{0.2}Co_{0.8}Fe_2O_4$, and $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$, are fabricated by the sol-gel method, and the crystallographic and magnetic properties of the powders are studied in comparison with those of $CoFe_2O_4$. All the ferrite powders are nano-sized and have a single spinel structure with the lattice constant increasing in $Mn_{0.2}Co_{0.8}Fe_2O_4$ but decreasing in $Ni_{0.2}Co_{0.8}Fe_2O_4$ and $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$. All the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra are fitted as a superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the $Fe^{3+}$ ions. The values of the magnetic hyperfine fields of $Ni_{0.2}Co_{0.8}Fe_2O_4$ are somewhat increased in the A and B sites, while those of $Mn_{0.2}Co_{0.8}Fe_2O_4$ and $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$ are decreased. The variation of $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ parameters is explained using the cation distribution equation, superexchange interaction and particle size. The hysteresis curves of the ferrite powders reveal a typical soft ferrite pattern. The variation in the values of saturation magnetization and coercivity are explained in terms of the site distributions, particle sizes and the spin magnetic moments of the doped ions.

  • Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) have wide range of application areas in transparent electrode for display devices, Transparent coating for solar energy heat mirrors, and electromagnetic wave shield. $SnO_2$ is intrinsically an n-type semiconductor due to oxygen deficiencies and has a high energy-band gap more than 3.5 eV. It is known as a transparent conducting oxide because of its low resistivity of $10^{-3}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and high transmittance over 90% in visible region. In this study, co-doping effects of Al and Y on the properties of $SnO_2$ were investigated. The addition of Y in $SnO_2$ was tried to create oxygen vacancies that increase the diffusivity of oxygen ions for the densification of $SnO_2$. The addition of Al was expected to increase the electron concentration. Once, we observed solubility limit of $SnO_2$ single-doped with Al and Y. $\{(x/2)Al_2O_3+(x/2)Y_2O_3\}-SnO_2$ was used for the source of Al and Y to prevent the evaporation of $Al_2O_3$ and for the charge compensation. And we observed the valence changes of aluminium oxide because generally reported of valence changes of aluminium oxide in Tin - Aluminium binary system. The electrical properties, solubility limit, densification and microstructure of $SnO_2$ co-doped with Al and Y will be discussed.

상용 Al2O3 분말의 비교분석 및 이를 이용하여 제조한 슬러리의 분산 특성 (Comparative Analysis of Commercial Al2O3 Powders and the Dispersion Characteristics of Slurries Produced Using Them)

  • Al2O3 has excellent sintering properties and is important in semiconductor manufacturing processes that require high-temperature resistance and chemical inertness in a plasma environment. In this study, a comprehensive analysis of the chemical characteristics, physical properties, crystal structure, and dispersion stability of three commercially available Al2O3 powders was conducted. The aim was to provide a technological foundation for selecting and utilizing appropriate Al2O3 powders in practical applications. All powders exhibited α-Al2O3 as the main phase, with the presence of beta-phase Na2O-11Al2O3 as the secondary phase. The highest Na+ ion leaching was observed in the aqueous slurry state due to the presence of the secondary phase. Although the average particle size difference among the three powders was not significant, distinct differences in particle size distribution were observed. ALG-1SH showed a broad particle size distribution, P162 exhibited a bimodal distribution, and AES-11 displayed a uniform unimodal distribution. High-concentration Al2O3 slurries showed differences in viscosity due to ion release when no dispersant was added, affecting the electrical double-layer thickness. Polycarboxylate was found to effectively enhance the dispersion stability of all three powders. In the dispersion stability analysis, ALG-1SH exhibited the slowest sedimentation tendency, as evidenced by the low TSI value, while P162 showed faster precipitation, influenced by the particle size distribution.

용융탄산염에 대한 스테인레스강의 내식성 향상을 위한 NiAl 피복에 관한 연구 (Study on the NiAl Coating for Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel in Molten Carbonate Salt)

  • 용융탄산염 연료전지 분리판의 wet-seal부의 내식성 향상을 위한 NiAl 피복공정이 조사되었다. AlSl 316 스테인레스강위에 Ni과 Al를 순차적으로 피복한 후, $800^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 열처리하여 NiAl상이 형성됨을 확인할 수 있었다. NiAl상이 피복된 스테인레스강은 $650^{\circ}C$, 용융탄산염($62^{m}/_{o}Li_2CO_3-38^{m}/_{o}/K_{2}CO_{3}$)내에서 침지시험을 통해 내식성이 평가되었는데, AISI 316 스테인레스강에 비해 우수한 내식성을 보였다. 이는 표면에 치밀하게 형성된 AI 산화물층에 의한 것으로 판단되었다.

The Effect of Carrier in CO2 Reforming of CH4 to Syngas over Ni-based catalysts

  • The activities of Ni(20wt%)/$La_2O_3$, Ni(20wt%)/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, and Ni(20wt%)/$SiO_2$ catalyst for $CO_2$ reforming of $CH_4$ were investigated in a fixed bed flow reactor under atmospheric condition. Catalyst characterization using XRD, TEM, SEM, BET analysis were also conducted. The catalytic activity of Ni(20wt%)/$La_2O_3$ catalyst has relatively superior to that of Ni(20wt%)/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ and Ni(20wt%)/$SiO_2$ catalyst. The good activity of Ni(20wt%)/$La_2O_3$ catalyst seems to depend on reduced $Ni^{\circ}$ phases of NiO($\rightarrow$ Ni + O), $LaNiO_3$($\rightarrow$ $Ni+La_2O_3$), Ni crystalline phases, and decoration of Ni phases by lanthanum species is also an important factor. Ni(20wt%)/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ and Ni(20wt%)/$SiO_2$ catalyst due to surface acidity resulted in the deposition of wisker type and encapsulate carbon on the surface of catalyst, but Ni(20wt%)/$La_2O_3$ catalyst did not show carbon on the surface of catalyst up to 8.5hr reaction.
