THE EFFECT OF OVER AND UNDERLAYER ON THE MAGNETORESISTANCE IN Co-Ag NANO-GRANULAR ALLOY FILMS

  • The composition and thickness dependence and the ferromagnetic under- and overlayer effect on the magnetoresistance ratio and saturation field of the Co-Ag nano-granular films were investigated. The maximum magnetoresistance (23% at R.T.) in the as-deposited state was obtained in the $3000{\AA}$ $Co_{30} Ag_{70}$ bare alloy film. As the thickness of the alloy films decreased below $500{\AA}$, the MR ratio decreased because of the resistivity increase and the non-uniform film formation. We showed that the ferromagnetic over- and underlayer could reduce the saturation field of the nano-granular films via exchange coupling effect. The magnetoresistance and the saturation field of the $100{\AA}$ alloy film were 3.65 % and 2.85 kOe respectively and those of the under- and overlayered alloy films with $200{\AA}$ Fe were 3.3 % and 1.23 kOe respectively.

  • To improve the electrochemical properties of thin-film LiCoO$_2$ cathodes, metal oxides were coated on the LiCoO$_2$ thin films using f sputtering. Galvanostatic charge-discharge experiments showed the enhanced cycling behaviors in the metal-oxide coated LiCoO$_2$ thin films than the uncoated ones. These results are because the metal-oxide coating layer suppresses the degradation of Li-diffusion kinetics during cycling, which is related to the protection of cathode surface from the electrolytes [l-3]. The variation in the metal-oxide coating thickness ranging from 10 to 300 nm did not affect the electrochemical properties. Changes of lattice constants in the coated and bare LiCoO$_2$ thin films at different charged states will also be discussed.

  • Negative Bias Temperature Instability (NBTI) in Eximer Laser Annealing (ELA) based Low Temperature polysilicon (LTPS) Thin-Film Transistors (TFT) was investigated. Even though NBTI is generally appeared in devices with thin gate oxide, the TFT with gate oxide thickness of 120 nm, relatively thick, also showed NBTI effect and dynamic NBTI effect is dependent on operational frequency.

  • Organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) based on a semiconducting polymer have been fabricated using an organic patterning methodology. Laser assisted lift-off (LALO) technique, ablating selectively the hydrophobic layer by an excimer laser, was used for producing a semiconducting polymer channel in the OTFT with high resolution. The selective wettability of a semiconducting polymer, poly (9-9-dioctylfluorene-co-bithiophene) (F8T2), dissolved in a polar solvent was found to define precisely the pattering resolution of the active channel. It is demonstrated that in the F8T2 TFTs fabricated using the LALO technique and is applicable for the larger area display.

수직자기기록매체 CoCrMo 박막의 구조와 자기적 성질 (Structural and Magnetic Properties of perpendicular Recording Medium CoCrMo thin Film)

  • Structural and magnetic properties of Co-Cr-Mo films were investigated in connection with sputtering conditions. Films were prepared using a convention RF sputtering system. X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were employed to investigate structure properties. Vibrating sample magnetometry was used for coercivity and saturation magnetization measurements. Co-Cr-Mo films displayed reasonable values of perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization for perpendicular recording media and showed good perpendicular orientation of the hcp c-axis to the film surface. Perpendicular coercivity was strongly dependent upon substrate technique showed better c-axis orientation than hose using the stationary substrate. Co-Cr-Mo films of 2.9 at. % Mo content showed maximum perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization. The films deposited at lower Ar pressure showed good magnetic properties. There was no explicit relationship between the columnar structure and c-axis orientation. Co-Cr-Mo films was found to have suitable structural and magnetic properties for perpendicular recording media.

CoFe/Cu/CoFe/PtMn 다층박막의 자기저항 곡선을 이용한 자기 등방성 특성 분석 (Analysis of Magnetic Isotropy Property using Magnetoresistance Curve of CoFe/Cu/CoFe/PtMn Multilayer Film)

  • PtMn계 스핀밸브(Spin Valve, SV) 다층박막의 하부층 구조를 달리하여 제작된 시료를 열처리 후 측정한 자기저항(magnetoresistance, MR) 곡선과 자기이력 곡선(MH loop)으로부터 얻은 등방성의 자기적 특성을 조사하였다. PtMn층이 없는 스핀밸브 구조의 Glass/Ta(10 nm)/CoFe(6 nm)/Cu(2.5 nm)/CoFe(3 nm)/Ta(4 nm) 다층박막으로 측정한 MR 곡선에서 얻은 교환결합력($H_{ex}$), 보자력($H_c$), 자기저항비(MR(%))는 각각 0 Oe, 약 25 Oe, 3.3 %이었다. Glass/Ta(10 nm)/CoFe(6 nm)/Cu(2.5 nm)/CoFe(3 nm)/PtMn(6 nm)/Ta(4 nm) 다층박막으로 측정한 MR 곡선에서 반강자성체인 PtMn 박막으로 나타낸 효과로 하여금 나비 날개 형태로 얻은 $H_{ex}$, $H_c$, MR(%)는 각각 2 Oe, 316 Oe, 4.4 %이었다. 반강자성체인 PtMn층이 중간층으로 삽입된 이중 GMR-SV 다층박막으로 측정한 MR 곡선과 MH loop에서 얻은 $H_c$는 각각 37.5 Oe과 386 Oe이었으며, MR(%)는 각각 3.5 %와 6.5 %로 2개의 히스테리시스에서 사각비가 뚜렷하게 대칭적으로 나눠져 자기적 특성을 나타내었다. PtMn계 CoFe 스핀밸브 박막의 매우 작은 $H_{ex}$ 값과 미미한 형상이방성을 갖는 효과로 하여금 비등방성을 갖는 자기적 특성을 잃게 되었다. 이러한 결과는 PtMn 박막의 하부층과 상부층에 있는 SV 다층박막에서 각 강자성체의 자화 스핀배열로 일어나는 효과를 나타내었다.

Na2CO3-CaCO3 보조상을 사용한 후막형 Co2 센서의 특성연구 (Characteristics of thick film Co2 sensors attached with Na2CO3-CaCO3 auxiliary phases)

  • Potentiometric $CO_{2}$ sensors were fabricated using a NASICON ($Na_{1+x}Zr_{2}Si_{X}P_{3-X}O_{12}$, 1.8 < x < 2.4) thick film and auxiliary layers. The powder of a precursor of NASICON with high purity was synthesized by a sol-gel method. By using the NASICON paste, an electrolyte was prepared on the alumina substrate by screen printing and then sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. A series of $Na_{2}CO_{3}-CaCO_{3}$ auxiliary phases were deposited on the Pt sensing electrode. The electromotive force (emf) values were linearly dependent on the logarithm of $CO_{2}$ concentration in the range between 1,000 and 10,000 ppm. The device attached with $Na_{2}CO_{3}-CaCO_{3}$ (1:2 in mol.%) showed good sensing properties in the low temperatures.

Electrochemical Properties of Air-Formed Oxide Film-Covered AZ31 Mg Alloy in Aqueous Solutions Containing Various Anions

  • This research was conducted to investigate the electrochemical properties of the thin air-formed oxide film-covered AZ31 Mg alloy. Native air-formed oxide films on AZ31 Mg alloy samples were prepared by knife-abrading method and the changes in the electrochemical properties of the air-formed oxide film were investigated in seven different electrolytes containing the following anions $Cl^-$, $F^-$, $SO{_4}^{2-}$, $NO_3{^-}$, $CH_3COO^-$, $CO{_3}^{2-}$, and $PO{_4}^{3-}$. It was observed from open circuit potential (OCP) transients that the potential initially decreased before gradually increasing again in the solutions containing only $CO{_3}^{2-}$ or $PO{_4}^{3-}$ ions, indicating the dissolution or transformation of the native air-formed oxide film into new more protective surface films. The Nyquist plots obtained from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) showed that there was growth of new surface films with immersion time on the air-formed oxide film-covered specimens in all the electrolyte. The least resistive surface films were formed in fluoride and sulphate baths whereas the most protective film was formed in phosphate bath. The potentiodynamic polarization curves illustrated that passive behaviour of AZ31 Mg alloy under anodic polarization appears only in $CO{_3}^{2-}$, or $PO{_4}^{3-}$ ions containing solutions and at more than $-0.4V_{Ag/AgCl}$ in $F^-$ ion containing solution.

Sputtering 성막속도가 박막의 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Sputter Deposition Rate on the Thin Film Property)

  • 본 연구에서는 DC magnetron sputtering 장비를 이용하여, GdFe, Co, CoCr 박막을 제작함에 있어서 sputtering 조건에 관계되는 Ar 압력, 투입전력, 기판의 종류 등의 요소가 박막의 특성, 특히 보자력과 미세구조에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. GdFe의 경우 성막속도가 증가함에 따라 Gd의 atomic%가 줄어드는 것을 알 수 있었으며, Ar압력이 증가함에 따라 성막속도는 감소하였고, 투입전력이 증가함에 따라 성막속도는 거의 선형적으로 증가함을 알 수 있다. 또한 투입전력이 증가함에 따라 박막의 보자력도 증가함을 알 수 있었다. Co 박막에 대해서는 투입전력과 Ar 압력에 관한 성막속도와 미세구조에 관하여 관찰하였다. 이로써 투입전력이 증가하면 성막속도가 증가하며 결정립의 크기가 감소함을 알 수 있었고, Ar 압력이 증가하면 성막속도가 감소함을 알 수 있었다. CoCr의 박막에서는 substrate 종류에 따라 보자력 및 미세구조에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구를 행하였으며, substrate의 종류가 미세구조와 보자력에 상당한 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Fabrication and Characteristics of C(IG)(SeS)2 Absorbers by Selenization and Sulfurization

  • Cu(InGa)(SeS2) (CIGS) thin film solar cells have recently reached an efficiency of 20%. Recent studies suggest a double graded band gap structure of the CIGS absorber layer to be a key issue in the production of high efficiency thin film solar cell using by sputtering process method. In this study, Cu(InGa)(SeS2) absorbers were manufactured by selenization and surfulization, we have deposited CIG precusor by sputtering and Se layer by evaporation before selenization. The objective of this study is to find out surfulization effects to improve Voc and to compare with non-surfulization Cu(InGa)Se2 absorbers. Even if we didn't analysis Ga depth profile of Cu(InGa)(SeS2) absorbers, we confirmed increasing of Eg and Voc through surlization process. In non-surfulization Cu(InGa)Se2 absorbers, Eg and Voc are 0.96eV and 0.48V. Whereas Eg and Voc of Cu(InGa)(SeS2) absorbers are 1.16eV and 0.57V. And the efficiency of 9.58% was achieved on 0.57cm2 sized SLG substrate. In this study, we will be discussed to improve Eg and Voc through surfulization and the other method without H2S. gas.
