The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of self-image congruence on attitudes toward purchase intentions of children's clothing via the Behavioral Intention Model. The empirical study was conducted via on-line survey and data were collected from mothers with children aged 6 to 10 years. A total of 593 respondents answered the questionnaire and 574 usable data were statistically analyzed. SPSS 18.0 was used to conduct descriptive statistical analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, cluster analysis, Chi-square test, ANOVA, and multiple regressions. A K-means cluster analysis was conducted based on three dimensions brand images of children's wear. Respondents were divided into four groups: elegant image group, multiple image group, ordinary image group, and childlike image group. Characteristics of consumers and clothing evaluative criteria that mothers considered important differed significantly across groups. Moreover, based on these groups, each dimension of self-congruence had different effects on brand attitude. Brand attitude and subjective norms had different effects on purchase intentions. In conclusion, levels of self-congruence and factors influencing purchase intention varied according to brand images of children's wear.

It is the prod-uct bought by consumer repeatedly and needs lots of information according to the changing of modes. The comsumer is very sensitive to the advertisement when they purchase the clothing products. Therefore the importance of the advertising is remakably emphasized in these days. According to the qualitative and quantitat-ive growth of advertisement the unique mar-keting strategy must be deviced that is differ-ent from the past. This thesis focuses onthe importance of afection which is more pre-ferred when consumer contacts the advertise-ment. And this study purposes on the provid-ing the basic data to plan effective clothing advertisement by way of analyzing how atti-tude-forming affects the purchase intend of the comsumer. The findings of the study are as follows. 1. Sense-pursuit tendency is strongly ap-peared among the low-age not-married groups. 2. By the factor analysis of consumer re-sponse in each advertisement 5 factors proved to be valid ones 3. There were significant differences be-tween the brand-used and advertisement ex-perienced customers according to the adver-tisement/brand attitudes. 4. There were no significant differences be-tween the application of clothing advertise-ment and demographic character. 5. The affective response more affects on cognitive response and purchase intend in 4 modes of advertisement. 6. From the pathes of the brand-used experi-enced to purchase intend the characteristics showed up in each advertisement.
The purpose of the study is to establish sustainability evaluation items that can be applied to enhance clothing sustainability practice. The sustainability evaluation items related to clothing by product category, use, and disposal were derived through literature review. In order to evaluate the validity of the derived evaluation items, preliminary survey and two questionnaires were conducted for experts, and the importance and the possibility of change were measured. As a result, 39 evaluation items were constructed. Among the 39 evaluation items, 26 items related to the use and disposal were evaluated for 10 weeks in the 20s and 30s female consumers in terms of practice. The results of the study are as follows: First, items that have a high degree of importance and possibility of change are the items that can minimize resource saving, recycling, and the emission of harmful substances. Second, the participants' perceptions, attitudes, and outcomes of practicing the evaluation items of the use and disposal phase were proved to be positively affected, and the possibility of reducing resource saving and environmental impacts was proved. The clothing sustainability practice played a positive and developmental role in real life, while changing from small things to pursuing newness. The vagueness of sustainability was changed to specific perceptions and behaviors through the practice of the evaluation items.
The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship among the pursuit benefits in clothing materials, the attitude toward natural dyeing products, and the purchase intent among consumers interested in natural dyeing products. For this study, 489 men and women in their 20s to 60s were surveyed, and the data was analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs. The findings of the analysis were as follows. First, of the pursuit benefits in clothing materials, function and originality factors had a significant and positive impact on the purchase intent of natural dyeing products. Second, of the pursuit benefit of clothing materials, functions, sustainability, and originality significantly and positively impacted the emotional and cognitive attitude toward natural dyeing products. Third, the emotional and cognitive attitude toward natural dyeing products had a significantly positively impacted the purchase intent. Fourth, in the relationship between the pursuit benefits in clothing materials and the purchase intent of natural dyeing products, the emotional and cognitive attitudes toward natural dyeing products were shown to have partial mediating effects.
The demand for personalized products and service of apparel product has increased dramatically. In order to acquire a personalized apparel product, consumers may have to sacrifice more expense or time. The purpose of this study was to investigate various personalization strategies in apparel business and to identify antecedents that influence the process. Clothing involvement and two price related variables (clothing expense and willingness to pay more) were included in the study as antecedents. Four personalization strategies were included in the study: design selection, size customization, in-store service and promotion personalization. For an empirical study, a conceptual model was designed and research questionnaire was developed. A measure of personalization of apparel shopping was developed based on existing scale items of prior research and a pilot study. Data from 766 men and women in their twenties to forties were used for statistical analysis. Structural Equation Modeling was used for the data analysis. Results indicated that the conceptual model was a good fit to data. Structural paths indicated that there was significant influence of clothing involvement on design selection and sales promotion personalization strategies. Involved consumers spent more on chothing products and were likely to pay more on personalized products and services. Monthly clothing expense influenced size customization significantly. It also had negative influence on service related personalization strategies. Consumers were willing to pay more when it comes to product related personalization strategies such as design and size but not necessarily to service related strategies. This study was an attempt to provide an in-depth and synthesized approach on consumer attitudes toward personalization of apparel products.
Interest in and use of social media as a communication channel are consistently evolving; in addition therefore, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities have been often conducted on online channels such as social media due to the advantages offered by the rapid spread of information. Consumers can be persuaded differently and their cognition can be influenced depending on who delivers what message. This study examines the influence of information source characteristics on eWOM acceptance of CSR messages and attitudes toward a company. This study compares cases: when a company sends their CSR message versus when an individual (i.e., consumer's acquaintance) sends the company's CSR message. A total of 320 respondents were presented with online stimuli and responded to the questionnaire to identify this phenomenon. Vegan fashion (which refers to products made from raw materials without animal cruelty) was used as stimuli in this study because it is a representative example of CSR activities. As a result, when consumers are exposed to CSR messages online, perceived expertise, trustworthiness and attractiveness of information source affect consumer's electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) acceptance and attitude toward a company. However, only trustworthiness influences eWOM acceptance in cases of a corporation information source. This study confirms the differences in eWOM acceptance and in attitudes to the company depending on to whom the messages were sent and with what content.
An empirical study was conducted on fashion cultural products, targeting foreigners from diverse cultures. Its purpose was to identify foreigners' attitudes toward fashion cultural products of which design sources were derived from the Korean culture. The quantitative research using questionnaires was targeted at Americans, Chinese and Japanese who visited Korea. The questionnaires were back-translated into different languages for completion by the test subjects. Out of a total of 424 surveys returned, 393 were deemed usable. As a result of data analyses using SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 5.0, we found that: First, two attitude factors, the authenticity and aesthetic elements, exerted a significant effect on the intent to purchase. However, the last attitude factor, care and carriage convenience, did not significantly influence the purchase intention. Second, there was no significant difference in the attributes regarded as important when purchasing fashion cultural product between people from the U.S. and Japan. However, people from China showed differences in the attributes compared to the U.S. and Japan. Third, we found that attitudes toward fashion cultural products were different among respondents of three countries. It was revealed that the Chinese liked Korea's fashion cultural products the most, followed by Americans and Japanese. This research is significant because investigating foreigners' attitudes toward fashion cultural products for reaching out to a broader market abroad would contribute to help building an market entry planning.
Consumers focus on information about the symbolic meaning of a product for highly involved and emotional products (such as cosmetic products). This study examines the effectiveness of the congruence between cosmetics advertising image and self-image on consumer attitudes. In addition, this study examines two additional moderating effects, which are 'product type' and 'message type'. For the experiment, four advertizing type factorial designs were performed. A total of 320 undergraduate female students in Korea participated in the experiment. This study captured the subjective judgments of consumers on these three comparisons in terms of advertizing attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention. The results are as follows: First, the greater the self-congruity on cosmetic advertising, then the greater the effectiveness on advertizing attitude. Second, the increased self-congruity on cosmetic advertising did not create greater effectiveness on brand attitude. Third, increased advertizing attitudes on the congruence between cosmetics advertising image and self-image increased the effectiveness on brand attitude. Fourth, increased advertizing attitudes on the congruence between cosmetics advertising image and self-image improved the effectiveness on purchase intention. Fifth, the greater the brand attitude (on the congruence between the cosmetics advertising image and the self-image produced)increased the effectiveness for purchase intention. The results show a significant moderating role of the product type. Marketers can use the results of this study to understand the market of cosmetic products for promotion.
This study analyzed consumers' awareness, preference levels, and effect expectations in relation to fashion art marketing according to the types of such marketing (collaboration between fashion and art in fashion products, called product collaboration; sponsorship for art foundation; artist sponsorship; collaboration for the design of a space/store/display; ad/promotional film collaboration). The study also investigated the influence of consumers' attitudes toward fashion art marketing with respect to purchase intention. The study was implemented through a descriptive survey method. The sample consisted of 342 men and women between the ages of 20 and 45. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that there are significant differences in consumers' awareness and effect expectations in relation to fashion art marketing according to the types of fashion art marketing activities. While no differences were found in preference levels according to the type of fashion art marketing, all the types of art marketing showed overall high levels of preference. The collaboration between fashion and art in fashion products, which had the highest awareness, also showed the highest expected effect. In all the types of fashion art marketing, consumers' attitudes had a significant influence on purchase intention. In cases of sponsorship for an art foundation, artist sponsorship, collaboration for the design of a space/store/display, and ad/promotional films, consumers' effect expectations had the most significant influence on purchase intention, followed by preference and awareness level. These results could be used to provide appropriate proposals to fashion brands when they plan to set up an art marketing strategy.
The purpose of this study is to identify conceptual constructs of well-being consciousness and appearance management behaviors, and to examine the effects of these two variables on attitudes toward Korean herbal cosmetics for Korean and Japanese consumers. A survey was carried out among female consumers between the ages of 20 and 50, and a total of 500 responses were analyzed by descriptive analysis, reliability test, t-test, and confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling and multi group analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The result of CFA and the reliability test on well-being consciousness and appearance management of Korean and Japanese respondents clearly showed factorial structures on each of the variant assessments. 2) In regards to the well-being consciousness, Korean and Japanese respondents highly tended to perceive well-being as a benefit to the physical health and an eco-friendly lifestyle respectively. In the area of appearance management, Korean and Japanese respondents had similar patterns that showed high scores of skin care and weight control. Both Korean and Japanese consumers showed favorable attitudes toward Korean herbal cosmetic products. 3) The consumers' well-being consciousness revealed to have positive influences on appearance management behavior. Both well-being consciousness and appearance management positively influenced attitudes toward Korean herbal cosmetics. 4) As a result of MGA, the well-being consciousness had more positive impacts on Korean respondents' attitudes toward Korean herbal cosmetics than the appearance management variable when compared to the Japanese respondents. On the other hand, appearance management had more positive impacts on Japanese respondents' attitudes to-ward Korean herbal cosmetics than well-being consciousness when compared to the Korean respondents. These results suggest that differentiated marketing strategies for Korean herbal cosmetics are crucial when targeting Korean and Japanese consumers.
