  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the social interactions on the social network and the purchase intention. And the trust propensity of a trustor, the ability of a trustee, and the sincerity of a trustee are selected as the antecedents of social interactions. This paper also examines the effect of type of product as a moderating variable. The result of this paper reveals that social interactions(in terms of closeness, familiarity, and interpersonal trust) have a positive(+) effect on the purchase intention. The more social interactions, the more trustors have intentions to purchase the recommended products by trustees. In addition, the study reveals that the trust propensity of a trustor and the ability of a trustee directly and indirectly influenced on the intention to purchase the recommended product. The findings also suggest that the trust propensity of a trustor and the ability of a trustee have an effect on the closeness, familiarity, and interpersonal trust resulting from social interactions.

  • This paper is to show a clustering application of a density estimation method that utilizes the Gaussian mixture model. We define "closeness measure" as a clustering criterion to see how close given two Gaussian components are. Closeness measure is defined as the ratio of log likelihood between two Gaussian components. According to simulations using artificial data, the clustering algorithm turned out to be very powerful in that it can correctly determine clusters in complex situations, and very flexible in that it can produce different sizes of clusters based on different threshold valuesold values

  • This study was designed to examine the relationships between three distinct dimensions of teacher-child relationship(closeness, conflict, and dependency) and various aspects of children's social competence. The subjects were 101 children at their ages of five to six years old (56 keys, 45 girls) in Jeonju city. The data were collected through preschool teachers by using self-administered questionnaire method. The results showed that teacher-child relationship was significantly associated with their social competence in preschool. Specifically, closeness in children's relationship with their teachers was fouled to be strongly correlated with children's social competence, white conflict between children and their teachers was negatively related with children's social competence. Finally, children's dependency on their Coachers was associated with children's problem behaviors.

  • This study examined the effects of closeness of peer relationships on intersubjectivity in young children's joint story making of wordless picture books. The joint story making activity of 32 five-year-old children was videotaped and transcribed, and the structure and negotiation types of interaction were examined by Goncu's (1993a) measure of intersubjectivity. Results showed (1) closeness of peer relationship was related to the structure of intersubjectivity children working with very close peers exhibited more turns. (2) Children working with very close peers used more extension and acceptance negotiation types, whereas the children working with non-close peers used more building-on of own ideas and irrelevant acts of negotiation.

  • Social network analysis (SNA) techniques have recently been developed to monitor and detect abnormal behaviors in social networks. As a useful tool for process monitoring, control charts are also useful for network monitoring. In this paper, the degree and closeness centrality measures, in which each has global and local perspectives, respectively, are applied to an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) chart and a multinomial cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart for monitoring undirected weighted networks. In general, EWMA charts monitor only one variable in a single chart, whereas multinomial CUSUM charts can monitor a categorical variable, in which several variables are transformed through classification rules, in a single chart. To monitor both degree centrality and closeness centrality simultaneously, we categorize them based on the average of each measure and then apply to the multinomial CUSUM chart. In this case, the global and local attributes of the network can be monitored simultaneously with a single chart. We also evaluate the performance of the proposed procedure through a simulation study.

  • This study aimed to analyze the effects of child abuse and neglect on male·female high school students and the moderating roles of peer attachment and closeness to teachers in the process. By using the second to the seventh yearsʼ data of 4th grade elementary school student panel participating in the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS), the study calculated descriptive statistics and performed hierarchical regressions. The main results of this study were as follows. First, for male high school students, as each level of child abuse, peer attachment, and closeness to teachers was higher, the level of ego-resilience was higher. However, as the level of child neglect was higher, the level of ego-resilience was lower. For female high school students, as the level of child neglect was higher, the level of ego-resilience was lower, while each level of peer attachment and closeness to teachers was higher, the level of ego-resilience was higher. In addition, for only male high school students, peer attachment moderated the effect of child abuse on ego-resilience. On the other hands, for both male and female high school students, as the level of child abuse and neglect were higher, the level of self-esteem was lower, while each level of peer attachment and closeness to teachers was higher, the level of self-esteem was higher. Moreover, for only female high school students, peer attachment moderated the effects of child abuse and neglect on self-esteem.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient anonymity algorithm for personal information protections in big data systems. Firstly, we briefly introduce fundamental algorithms of k-anonymity, l-diversity, t-closeness. And then we propose an anonymity algorithm using controlling the size of anonymity groups as well as exchanging the data tuple between anonymity groups. Finally, we demonstrate an example on which proposed algorithm applied. The proposed scheme gave an efficient and simple algorithms for the processing of a big amount of data.

  • In this paper, we show that, under some conditions, self-maps of product spaces can be represented by the composition of two specific self-maps if their induced homomorphism on the i-th homotopy group is an automorphism for all i in some section of positive integers. As an application, we obtain closeness numbers of several product spaces.

  • A generalized Stein-rule estimator of the vector of regression coefficients in linear regression model is considered and its properties are analyzed according to the criterion of Pitman nearness. A comparative study shows that the generalized Stein-rule estimator representing a class of estimators contains particular members which are better than the usual Stein-rule estimator according to the Pitman closeness.
