  • The subject on presentation technique is the class which helps to develop the capability of sensual and creative acts to the students who major in interior design. It helps to understand plasticity and space through the theory of the light and the object, and to develop the capability which realizes one's idea to the actual and visual formations. It also enable the students to explain their designs to the customers by studying the technique which transfers 2D diagram to 3D presentation. Because of these objectives of the class, the departments which major in interior design in Korea consider the class on presentation technique as one of the mun subjects in basic curriculum. However, most of the textbooks related to the presentation technique published in Korea are in the lack of original characteristics for the field of domestic interior design since they refer to or employ the contents of architectural field by directly translating foreign articles. In addition, most of the classes on the presentation technique are taught not by professors but by lecturers so that the class objectives may be varied by their standards for the class. Therefore, it is not easy for each department to set up the one's own characteristics in the field of presentation technique. This study is to analyze the problems in the subjects of presentation technique by investigating the current situations for the subjects on presentation technique in domestic colleges and by surveying the personnels engaged in the field of domestic interior design. Also, the study has the objective to propose the development plan of educational program for the presentation technique in order to enable the student to effectively work in real business.

  • This paper presents a metric that can guide to optimal circuit models for interconnects among various models, given interconnect parameters and operating environment. To get this goal, we categorize interconnects into RC~c1ass and RLC-c1ass model domains based on the quantitative modeling error analysis using total resistance, inductance and capacitance of interconnects as well as operating frequency. RC~c1ass circuit models, which include most on~chip interconnects, can be efficiently analyzed by using the model~order reduction techniques. RLC-c1ass circuit models are constructed using one of three candidates, ILC(Iterative Ladder Circuit) macromodels, MC(Method of Characteristics) macromodels, and state-based convolution method, the selection process of which is based upon the allowable modeling error and electrical parameters of interconnects. We propose the model domain diagram leading to optimal circuit models and the division of model domains has been achieved considering the simulation cost of macromodels under the environmental assumption of the general purpose circuit simulator such as SPICE. The macromodeling method presented in this paper keeps the passivity of the original interconnects and accordingly guarantees the unconditional stability of circuit models.

  • The purpose of this study was undertaken to determine the effects of orthognathic surgery on speech. The hyposis stated herein is that functional behaviors of the dentofacial complex, such as speech production, may be adversely affected by deviations of a structural nature(especially, Class III malocclusion). Twenty adults with Class III malocclusion(13 female and 7 male) were studied preoperative, immediate postoperative and either 6 or 12 months postoperative lateral cephalograms. They had mandibular prognathism and had undergone mandible setback operation. The position of tongue, soft palate(Uvula), hyoid bone, respiratory track width, and pharyngeal depth were assessed on lateral cephalograms with 23 cephalometric variables, ANOVA, Paired t-tests and Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient tests were used to evalute the operative changes in all cephalometric parameters. A experienced speech and language pathologists performed narrow phonetic transcriptions of tape-recorded words and sentences produced by each of the ninth patients and the recording tapes were analyzed by phonetic computer program(Computerized Speech Lab(CSL) Model 4300BI(U.S.A.)) These judges also recorded their ratings of each patient's overall consonants, hypernasality, hyponasality, and articulation proficiency. The results obtained are as follows; 1. There were significant changes in distance of posterior pharyngeal wall to tongue (TI-TW2, TS-TW3) after the surgery at 6 months postoperatively(each p<0.01 p<0.05). 2. The posterior tongue point(TI, TS, PPT) moved posteriorly after surgery and remained to its changed position at 6 months postoperatively(p<0.05). The displacement of tongue was correlated with the movement of mandibular setback amount(p<0.05). The hyoid bone moved posteriorly superiorly after immediate postoperative period. There was significant changes in hyoid bone movement after immediated postoperative period(p<0.05), but returned to its original position during the follow-up period(p>0.05) 3. The soft palate was displaced posteriorly superiorly after immediated operative period and remained to its changed position at 6 months postoperatively(p<0.05). ANS-PNS-SPT angle increasing, PPU-PPPo distance narrowing was showed after surgery, and remained its appearance 6 months postoperatively(p<0.05). 4. There were significant changes in formant value and squre diagram of vowel sound after the orthognathic surgery and the follow-up period. There were significant changes in /ㅅ/sound and posterior tongue sound. 5. The posterior movement of tongue and the posteriosuperior movement of soft palate was correlated with mandibular setback amount after orthognathic surgery. On the vowel squre diagram, the author found that the place of articulation after operation moved downward, backward, upward. 6. In assessing speech abnormalities, dental occlusion should be considered as a contributing factor. The vast majority of subjects with preoperative misarticulations eliminated or reduced their errors following orthognathic surgery. There was significant difference in speech impovement between pre- and postoperation.

  • Nowadays, XML has been favored by many companies internally and externally as a means of sharing and distributing data, due to its open-architectural structure. XML-GL, a graphical query language for document has the advantage of containing both structuring and defining of itself. By incorporating UML an XML document can become object-oriented and can be represented by graphical means. This paper proposes a XML-GL query modeling solution by using UML class diagrams. In order for the modeled objects to be properly restricted, the Object Constraint Language has been defined. This process converts XML documents into Object-Oriented data and combined with UML class diagrams, searches for XML documents can be increased.

  • In this paper, a new class of diagram algebras which are subalgebras of signed brauer algebras, called the Walled Signed Brauer algebras denoted by ${\overrightarrow{D}}_{r,s}(x)$, where $r,s{\in}{\mathbb{N}}$ and x is an indeterminate are introduced. A presentation of walled signed Brauer algebras in terms of generators and relations is given. The cellularity of a walled signed Brauer algebra is established. Finally, ${\overrightarrow{D}}_{r,s}(x)$, is quasi- hereditary if either the characteristic of a field, say p, p = 0 or p > max(r, s) and either $x {\neq}0$ or x = 0 and $r{\neq}s$.

  • New trends such as electronic commerce, virtual organizations, e-business applications, etc. increase the dependence of production management on information software systems and contribute to the needs for global, distributed object systems. This paper presents a component based approach for production management systems under the multi-tier distributed information system architecture using UML(Unified Modeling Language), CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) and XML(eXtensible Markup Language) technologies, and propose rules for mapping a UML class diagram to a XML DTD (Document Type Definition). And we adapt it to the prototype system implementation. The components are implemented by CORBA and we use XML messages for the information exchange between components.

  • The trellis shaping is the method of selecting a minimum weight sequence from an equivalent class of possible transmitted sequences. It is perforemed by searching through the trellis diagram of a shaping convolutional code Cs. A shaping gain of the order of 1dB may be obtained with a simple 4-state shaping code. But when the rellis shaping is applied to multi-dimensional constellation, the shaping gain is decreased and the transmission delay is increased, which make it difficult to apply the trellis shaping to multi-dimensional constellation. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, the shell mapping algorithm is used for the mapper in the proposed trellis shaping. The simulatio result shows that the proposed trellis shaping is better than coventional trellis shaping to multi-dimensional constellation. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, the shell mapping on multi-dimensional costellation with respect to shaping gain and transmission delay. And the constellation expansion ratio (CER) and the capacity of transmitted injformation are identical to those of conventional trellis shaping on multi-dimensional constellation.
