In order to achieve stiction-free polysilicon surfaces, we have suggested a new class of chemical coating precursors and confirmed their excellent characteristics. The strategy is to adopt dialkyldichlorosilanes (DDS, $R2SiCl_2$) instead of monoalkyltrichlorosilanes (MTS, $RSiCl_3$) such as octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) or 1H,1H2H,2H-perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane (FDTS). Dichlorodimethylsilane (DDMS, $(CH_3)2SiCl_2$) in this study is commercially available DDS with two short chains. DDMS in aprotic media spontaneously deposits on the hydrophilic polysilicon surface, which is completely changed to hydrophobic one. When polysilicon surface is exposed to DDMS solution at room temperature, anti-stiction property and hydrophobicity are clearly comparable to FDTS. DDMS is even superior to MTS in reliability and easy handling, which provides high yield. Since interactions among precursor molecules are reduced, conglomeration both in homogeneous solution and on surface can be effectively avoided. Even the cantilevers of 3 mm in length can be protected successfully from the stiction and the final quality of the modified surfaces is much less dependent on temperature. And no difference was found between the processes in ambient environment and in dry box. In addition, DDMS has advantages of remarkably reduced process time and low cost.
The objective of this study is to examine the cognitive process that undergoes a middle student’s conceptual change about the universe by the cognitive conflict, using science history materials as a teaching strategy. Four eighth graders were selected and classified by three cognitive level. Students were interviewed and conducted to an inquiry activities regarding their viewpoint about the universe after each class, and their conceptual change patterns were analysed from pre-test and post-test. This study showed that each student held dissimilar astronomical preconceptions and various misconceptions about celestial motion. Students at the formal operational stage and transitional stage experienced the conceptual change from geocentricism to heliocentricism by instructional model upon the science history materials. Student at the concrete operational stage had either unscientific conception, no conception, or could not have a conceptual change even when being presented with an environment that arouses cognitive conflict ($R^2$: Phase change of Venus and its Rise and set time). They ended up having a cognitive change from geocentricism to heliocentricism by solving another problem ($R^2$: Relation between visible diameter and position of Mars). After the instruction, a conceptual achievement progress was reported with a $10\%$ improvement. Therefore, the instruction model based upon science history was effective on student’s scientific conceptual change.

As the necessity of cyber education is being raised up recently, Cyber Home Learning System(CHLS) is increasingly adopted at all school levels ranging from elementary to high schools. The purposes of this study are to find out that how elementary social studies of CHLS influence on the academic performance and learning attitude of students and their satisfaction. Based on these suggestions on social studies of CHLS are proposed. To accomplish the purposes, comparisons were made between experimental group utilizing social studies of CHLS and control group of traditional class of 54 students(27 students each in experimental and control group) in 5th grade. The results are as follows. Utilizations in social studies of CHLS showed positive effects on academic performance and learning attitude, and students' satisfaction on social studies of CHLS were rather increased. Based on these findings, several suggestions are made. First, strategy to improve motivation and confidence for students to participate on social studies of CHLS are necessary. Second, thinking and problem-solving activities needs to be integrated to social studies of CHLS. Third, for meaningful social studies, environment that can improve communication and thinking ability through interaction needs to be facilitated. Fourth, supporting plan is advised for teachers carrying on the role of manager and facilitator.

The purpose of the study was two folded: to examine whether form-focused instruction (FFI) with corrective feedback (CF) is effective for the acquisition of the target linguistic forms and to find out the extent to which of the students' perceptions as well as their attitudes towards English instruction that they received. Tests and questionnaires were implemented to 122 Korean EFL students from eight classes enrolled in an English communication course. They were randomly assigned to three groups: the input-based group, who received typographical input enhancement materials, so-called the TIE group, the output-based group, who performed dictogloss tasks, so-called the DICT group, and the control group (CG). The data analysis was made on both tests and questionnaires by using SPSS 21.0 for Windows. The study found that different types of FFI with CF contributed to the improvement of students' grammatical knowledge and both the TIE and DICT task group students positively changed their perceptions and understanding as well as their attitudes towards the English instruction given, and students in all groups preferred pair work activities. In addition, most of the TIE and DICT students showed their interest and satisfaction with English class, whereas the CG group students did not. Based on the findings, this study suggested that well-planned and properly-chosen FFI in the form of pair work activities should be applied in classrooms with consideration of students' instructional preference in Korean EFL contextual settings.

An increasing number of cities employ rescaling strategies that not only construct metropolitan production network scaled down from national context, but also tune up new governance to effectively control local geographies of the city. In this context, urban redevelopment has emerged a key 'global' strategy to empower governmental institutions of the city, which not only eliminate such threatening spatial variables as deteriorated housing, working-class ghettos, and crime areas, but also increase and extract exchange value of those spaces. I view such practices a process of 'glurbanization'. This paper investigates how state/city government employs the discourse of urban re/development for 'inventing' poverty at an urban scale: how it institutionalizes the discourse for implementing concrete projects: and how urban institutional apparatus appropriate their discursive practices of redevelopment for their own ends in the city. By particularly focusing on the California Redevelopment Law and the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, this paper analyzes the ways in which the law and the agency extract value from what they define 'blight areas' by means of eminent domain and tax increment revenues. For empirical analysis I employ discourse analysis and institutional ethnography. I conclusively argue that the urban spaces stigmatized as 'blight areas' are increasingly entrapped by the urban redevelopment agency, which extracts increased exchange value from the areas and redirects it for supporting external investors, private developers, and the body of the agency itself.

The southern coastal area of Korean peninsula maintains unique natural views, social environment and tourism infrastructure. Even though the coastal area has world-class tourism resources and a great potential for development, it was an outsider from the tourism development in Korea. The coast development has recently reemerged because of increased tourism demand in the Northeast Asia, however, increased interest for the outstanding marine tourism resources and the marine culture, improvement of accessibility to the coast Considering these characteristics, the southern coastal area will be grown to a marine resort-belt, which will serve as a marine tourism hub in the Northeast. In the long run, it can be developed for leisure residential space with environment-friendly well-being fashion, new growing area that continuously drives the local development and area for a mutual development between Yeongnam and Honam Region. To accomplish this vision, several strategic matters should be resolved. Mall strategic issues are as follows: the loosening related rules and regulations that limit the development, legislation of a special law for tourism promotion, supporting for investment in public service and strategic investment, establishment of a marine tourism route connecting China-Korea-Japan, formulating new planning for Hallyo-Haesang Marine Park, designation of special marine tourism development zone, and invitation of the World Expo 2012.
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) introduced its new Mission Oriented Evaluation System (MOES) for government affiliated research institutes and Government Supported Research Institutes (GSRI) on science and technology in 2013. The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) is the first MOES applied Science and Technology (S&T) GSRI, that has research divisions focusing on geoscience and geological surveys, mineral resources extraction and utilization, petroleum extraction and marine mineral research, and geological applied and environment research. In appling the final evaluation of MOES on KIGAM, we found difficulty classifing the concepts of research excellence and risk (innovativeness) in guidelines of Research Evaluation Indicators (REIs) of MSIP. We have developed quantitative and qualitative indicators that can present research excellence and risk (innovativeness) through the KIGAM World Class Laboratory (WCL) strategy and related studies, innovative research and development guidelines of MSIP (2013a) and honorable R&D failure guidelines of MSIP (2013b). We have applied our developed REIs in KIGAM which handles basic research, applied and development research and public services. Therefore, our developed REIs can be effectively applied in every S&T GSRI.
According to the acceleration of informationalization and technological renovation in new coming $21^c$, the material production elements like labor and capital as well as others which have been the resources of a country's competitive power are changing into formless knowledge-based assets like knowledge and technology. In order to meet these demands of this time, companies in developed countries are concentrating on competition and cooperation to obtain higher technology as a strategy towards becoming first-class countries in the world. Thus, the development program of human resources should focus on providing creative technical application ability. Especially, universities should develop knowledge, technology, creative problem-solving ability and realism acquired by various fields in industry where engineering is used and make it possible to perform practical tasks. As a plan for enforcement and management of this program, a certification program which evaluates the ability and accomplishments of the study of graduate students in order to manage the quality of education should be applied as soon as possible at the institute which trains engineers. In this study, among the accomplishment assessment which have been suggested as an alternative assessment method, portfolio assessment is introduced into the educational situation of engineering technological human resources to find a method of application.

One area where research is especially needed is their elaboration process and how they elaborate their idea as a group in a mathematical board game re-creation project. In this research, this process was named 'Mathematical Elaboration Process'. The purpose of this research is to understand how the gifted children elaborate their idea in a small group, and which idea can be chosen for a new board game when they are exposed to a project for making new mathematical board games using the what-if-not strategy. One of the gifted children's classes was chosen in which there were twenty students, and the class was composed of four groups in an elementary school in Korea. The researcher presented a series of re-creation game projects to them during the course of five weeks. To interpret their process of elaborating, the communication of the gifted students was recorded and transcribed. Students' elaboration processes were constructed through the interaction of both the mathematical route and the non-mathematical route. In the mathematical route, there were three routes; favorable thoughts, unfavorable thoughts and a neutral route. Favorable thoughts was concluded as 'Accepting', unfavorable thoughts resulted in 'Rejecting', and finally, the neutral route lead to a 'non-mathematical route'. Mainly, in a mathematical route, the reason of accepting the rule was mathematical thinking and logical reasons. The gifted children also show four categorized non-mathematical reactions when they re-created a mathematical board game; Inconsistency, Liking, Social Proof and Authority.
