  • A Hilbert Space operator T is of class Q if $T^2{\ast}T^2-2T{\ast}T + I$ is nonnegative. Every paranormal operator is of class Q, but class-Q operators are not necessarily normaloid. It is shown that if a class-Q contraction T has no nontrivial invariant subspace, then it is a proper contraction. Moreover, the nonnegative operator Q = $T^2{\ast}T^2-2T{\ast}T + I$ also is a proper contraction.

  • Let 𝓢 be the collection of the operator matrices $\(\array{A&C\\Z&B}\)$ where the range of C is closed. In this paper, we study the properties of operator matrices in the class 𝓢. We first explore various local spectral relations, that is, the property (β), decomposable, and the property (C) between the operator matrices in the class 𝓢 and their component operators. Moreover, we investigate Weyl and Browder type spectra of operator matrices in the class 𝓢, and as some applications, we provide the conditions for such operator matrices to satisfy a-Weyl's theorem and a-Browder's theorem, respectively.

  • We give a characterization of zero divisors of the ring C[a, b]. Using the Weierstrass approximation theorem, we completely characterize topological divisors of zero of the Banach algebra C[a, b]. We also characterize the zero divisors and topological divisors of zero in ℓ. Further, we show that zero is the only zero divisor in the disk algebra 𝒜 (𝔻) and that the class of singular elements in 𝒜 (𝔻) properly contains the class of topological divisors of zero. Lastly, we construct a class of topological divisors of zero of 𝒜 (𝔻) which are not zero divisors.

  • For the fabrication of HTS power cable, multifilamentary Bi-2223/Ag tapes have been prepared using the powder-in-tube (PIT) process. After final heat treatment, these tapes have $I_{c}$ value of 43A, and$ J_{c}$ value of $28,000A/\textrm{cm}^2$(77K, 0T). Prototype 1000A class multistrand conductor(length~1m) was fabricated using these tapes(length~300m). This multistrand conductor was impregnated with low-temperature epoxy. The transportation properties of prototype 1000A class multistrand conductor has been evaluated at 77K, and yielding a current capacity up to 1200A.A.A.

  • In this paper, the k-nearest templates method is proposed to combine multiple classifiers effectively. First, the method decomposes training samples of each class into several subclasses based on the outputs of classifiers to represent a class as multiple models, and estimates a localized template by averaging the outputs for each subclass. The distances between a test sample and templates are then calculated. Lastly, the test sample is assigned to the class that is most frequently represented among the k most similar templates. In this paper, C-means clustering algorithm is used as the decomposition method, and k is automatically chosen according to the intra-class compactness and inter-class separation of a given data set. Since the proposed method uses multiple models per class and refers to k models rather than matches with the most similar one, it could obtain stable and high accuracy. In this paper, experiments on UCI and ELENA database showed that the proposed method performed better than conventional fusion methods.

  • The cathode catalyst layer in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) was fabricated with anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template and its structure was characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. The SEM analysis showed that the catalyst layer was fabricated the Pt nanowire with uniform shape and size. The BET analysis showed that the volume of pores in range of 20-100 nm was enhanced by AAO template. The electrochemical properties with the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) were evaluated by current-voltage polarization measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the MEA with AAO template reduced the mass transfer resistance and improved the cell performance by approximately 25% through controlling the structure of catalyst layer.

  • Let $Q_{n+p-1}(\alpha)$ denote the- dass of functions $$f(z)=z^{P}-\sum_{n=0}^\infty{a_{(p+k)}z^{p+k}$$ ($a_{p+k}{\geq}0$, $p{\in}N=\left{1,2,{\cdots}\right}$) which are analytic and p-valent in the unit disc $U=\left{z:{\mid}z:{\mid}<1\right}$ and satisfying $Re\left{\frac{D^{n+p-1}f(\approx))^{\prime}}{pz^{p-a}\right}>{\alpha},0{\leq}{\alpha}<1,n>-p,z{\in}U.$ In this paper we obtain sharp results concerning coefficient estimates, distortion theorem, closure theorems and radii of p-valent close-to- convexity, starlikeness and convexity for the class $Q_{n+p-1}$ ($\alpha$). We also obtain class preserving integral operators of the form $F(z)=\frac{c+p}{z^{c}}\int_{o}^{z}t^{c-1}f(t)dt.$ c>-p $F\left(z\right)=\frac{c+p}{z^{c}}\int_{0}^{z} t^{c-1}f\left(t \right)dt. \qquad c>-p$ for the class $Q_{n+p-1}$ ($\alpha$). Conversely when $F(z){\in}Q_{n+p-1}(\alpha)$, radius of p-valence of f(z) has been determined.

  • Maxillary protraction is the conventional treatment for growing Class III patients with maxillary deficiency, but it has undesirable dental effects. The purpose of this report is to introduce an alternative modality of maxillary protraction in patients with dentoskeletal Class III malocclusion using a modified C-palatal plate connected with elastics to a face mask. This method improved skeletal measurements, corrected overjet, and slightly improved the profile. The patients may require definitive treatment in adolescence or adulthood. The modified C-palatal plate enables nonsurgical maxillary advancement with maximal skeletal effects and minimal dental side effects.

  • Thin film electrodes have been intensively studied for active materials and current collectors to enhance the electrochemical performance. Here, porous structures of nickel-based oxide films, consisting of nickel oxide and copper (II) oxide, which was derived from the copper substrate during the annealing process, were deposited on metallic copper foils. The half-cell tests revealed excellent capacity retention after $80^{th}$ charge/discharge cycles. Some films showed an excess of the theoretical capacity of nickel oxides, which mainly originate from partially oxidized copper substrates during annealing. These results exhibit that both a preparation method of an active materials and partially oxidized current collectors could be important roles to apply thin film electrodes.
