  • Turnkey projects accounting for some $10\%$ of the total volume of the projects in the domestic market have been often implemented without the process of full-scale review or study because of clients' lack of expert and expertise. Moreover, many projects have been executed under the terms and conditions of the contact which were found to be unilaterally in favor of the clients. The study, as part of effects to mitigate the claims that would possibly be caused by the potential problems with the typical turnkey projects, were intended to identify the elements of the claims virtually being occurred at the construction sites, and then analyze the degree of influence on the project so as to be able to incorporate the outcome into the plan at the working-levels. As a result of experts' review, through the survey, of the elements once extracted, those having relatively higher degrees of influence on turnkey projects were determined, and the investigation aimed at estimating the amount of claims in terms of value were conducted to eventually identify, evaluate and verify the elements that had affected the Project together with the degree of influence.

  • Objective: We aimed to evaluate the reporting quality of research articles that applied deep learning to medical imaging. Using the Checklist for Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (CLAIM) guidelines and a journal with prominence in Asia as a sample, we intended to provide an insight into reporting quality in the Asian region and establish a journal-specific audit. Materials and Methods: A total of 38 articles published in the Korean Journal of Radiology between June 2018 and January 2023 were analyzed. The analysis included calculating the percentage of studies that adhered to each CLAIM item and identifying items that were met by ≤ 50% of the studies. The article review was initially conducted independently by two reviewers, and the consensus results were used for the final analysis. We also compared adherence rates to CLAIM before and after December 2020. Results: Of the 42 items in the CLAIM guidelines, 12 items (29%) were satisfied by ≤ 50% of the included articles. None of the studies reported handling missing data (item #13). Only one study respectively presented the use of de-identification methods (#12), intended sample size (#19), robustness or sensitivity analysis (#30), and full study protocol (#41). Of the studies, 35% reported the selection of data subsets (#10), 40% reported registration information (#40), and 50% measured inter and intrarater variability (#18). No significant changes were observed in the rates of adherence to these 12 items before and after December 2020. Conclusion: The reporting quality of artificial intelligence studies according to CLAIM guidelines, in our study sample, showed room for improvement. We recommend that the authors and reviewers have a solid understanding of the relevant reporting guidelines and ensure that the essential elements are adequately reported when writing and reviewing the manuscripts for publication.

  • Detecting fraudulent insurance claims is difficult due to small and unbalanced data. Some research has been carried out to better cope with various types of fraudulent claims. Nowadays, technology for detecting fraudulent insurance claims has been increasingly utilized in insurance and technology fields, thanks to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) methods in addition to traditional statistical detection and rule-based methods. This study obtained meaningful results for a fraudulent insurance claim detection model based on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) technologies, using fraudulent insurance claim data from previous research. In our search for a method to enhance the detection of fraudulent insurance claims, we investigated the reinforcement learning (RL) method. We examined how we could apply the RL method to the detection of fraudulent insurance claims. There are limited previous cases of applying the RL method. Thus, we first had to define the RL essential elements based on previous research on detecting anomalies. We applied the deep Q-network (DQN) and double deep Q-network (DDQN) in the learning fraudulent insurance claim detection model. By doing so, we confirmed that our model demonstrated better performance than previous machine learning models.

  • Hotel industry publications demonstrate a keen interest in the revenue enhancing potential of yield management, but there has been little research on the extent to which this pricing technique is actually utilized by hotel general managers. This research tests the proposition that there are eight basic elements of yield management in hotels. The degree to which yield management is practiced is indicated by the extent that these eight elements are in place. It was found that there is a positive relationship between a managers perception of his or her own yield management utilization and the extent to which the eight elements are used. It was also found, however, that while 77% of hotels claim to be utilizing yield management techniques extensively, very few are using all of the basic elements in their efforts to maximize revenue.

  • This study aims at investigating Korean EFL students' writing strategies through their rhetorical patterns and meaning-making for a writing task in an English writing classroom at a Korean university. The participants were the students and teacher in the course, and the data comprised nine pieces of students' opinion writing and interviews with the teacher. To analyze the data, a 'Claim-Support' pattern was adopted. The findings show that most students, 89%, demonstrated the same or similar elements in the 'Claim-Support' pattern for their textual structures and many parts of the meaning-making in their writing were originated from the textbook. These findings reflect that the students pursued the strategy of 'accommodation' in order to succeed in their academic writing regardless of the teacher's intention which focused on creativity and imagination in writing. The conclusion suggest that the students tend to establish their own ways of strategy to cope with the recontextualized setting for writing in English.

  • The delay of construction is one of the most frequent and complicated elements of the claim. And the liquidated damages cause many disputes during the judgement. The liquidated damages should be a compensation for owner's substantial loss, but actually be applied as a damage for breach of contract. These damages are different from owner's loss and give constructors a excessive burden. So we need a more reasonable system than a lump application system. In this study, we make a Improvement System, that based on owner's substantial loss, and suggest the new liquidated damages calculation method.

  • In this study, an educational program was developed. The program can perform the claim for examination of medical expense, which is one of NCS Competence Unit Elements for hospital administration. Considering various coding to complex compute and process, VB.Net was employed for this development. For database, ACCESS Database was used because it is easy to learn and use. The learning effects by the developed program are expected to be as follows. First, the composition of medical expense can be understood by analyzing Medical history and then selecting insurance code according to the Standard of Medical Care Code. Second, unit cost per score can be learned according to hospital class. Third, selection of Column (medical materials) and Column II(medical practice) can classify items of additional ratio. Fourth, because patient's payment rate on hospitalization and meal expense and use of special equipment are differently applied, user can know patient's payment rate by type and can calculate it. Fifth, additional amount is the amount calculated by additional ratio of Column II(medical practice), and user can learn additional ratio according by insurance type and hospital class. Sixth, user can learn self-pay rate by hospital class and understand the process that self-pay amount and claim amount are calculated according by self-pay rate.

  • This study would analyze the visual expression elements, including layout, color, picture and typography in the election posters with the five main candidates of the 19th Presidential Election as the targets of the analysis. This study analyzed the candidates' images in the election posters and conducted a survey of the visual expression elements survey by the age of the voters. As a result of the analysis, Presidential Candidate Moon Jae-in felt fresh, and Yoo Seung-min like Moon had high percentages in layout and color, highlighting his clean image. Hong Jun-pyo had the most diverse preferences by age, and Ahn Cheol-soo, who showed the most unprecedented poster, too, had diverse preferences by age. Shim Sang-jung, who emphasized her familiar image, had preferences for her visual expression elements by all age groups in the following order: layout, color, picture and typography. Therefore, in order to utilize the visual expressions of the election posters, effectively, it is necessary to clarify the messages that the candidates would claim. For this purpose, objective research should continue so that they can be further developed artistically and academically through broad understanding and analysis of the voters rather than subjective expressions.

  • To succeed the claim of medical negligence, the plaintiff should establish the medical profession's fault, and the causation between the fault and damages. The faults are judged on lege artis, which is based on expert witness. However, judges often infer the faults and causations from circumstantial evidences and patients' injuries. This presumptions depend on the law of nature(Erfahrungsgesetz). The law of nature can explain the typical development of the event. If the circumstantial evidences were in accordance with that, the faults and causations would be able to be recognized by the judges. Therefore the standards of comparison such as lege artis or the law of nature play an important role for medical negligence liabilities to be imputed to doctors or hospitals. The factual elements necessary to assume the fault is similar to those of the causation, for the concept of the fault is correlated with that of the causation. The elements include the temporal and spatial proximity between damages and defendant's medical treatments, no existence of other causations, the probability of bed results developed by the medical treatments, and so on. These enable the fault and causation to be assumed at the same times.

  • Design-build projects were devised to enhance the design technologies of the domestic construction industry and the efficiency of public works, contributing greatly to the development of construction technologies. However, as various stages of the process, such as formulation of basic plans and design documents, and deliberations proceed, claims, including changes in the requirements of clients, and design changes occur. These claims result in the delay in construction and an increase in construction costs. In this regard, this study attempted to identify main claims that delay construction and increase the costs of design-build projects, prevent claims in the future, and improve the efficiency of project implementation.
