A Study on Travel Activity and Shopping Behavior of 20's-30's Korean Overseas Travelers (20-30대 해외여행자의 여행활동과 쇼핑행동에 관한 연구)

  • This study confirmed shopping behavior of Korean young overseas tourists and its effect on travel evaluation. I first identified core factors of travel activity preference, travel shopping propensity, and shopping products. The effect of shopping product satisfaction on tour satisfaction and post-tour intention was then investigated. Based on travel activities, tourists were grouped, and their characteristics were compared. An online survey method was performed to obtain data of 20's-30's Korean unmarried people, while factor analysis, regression analysis, chi-square test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and cluster analysis were applied to analyze data. The results were as follows. First, six travel activities (city life, art/shopping, cultural experience, entertainment, field experience, and friendship), three shopping propensity (novelty/uniqueness, utility, and prestige), and four product groups (fashion goods, household goods, crafts, and foods) were found by factor analyses. Second, travel activity tended to influence shopping propensity, which then influenced shopping products preference. All factors of travel activity seemed to affect the three travel shopping propensities. Third, shopping satisfaction was shown to affect tour satisfaction, and posttour behavior. Finally, four tourist groups (active, social, pleasure, and passive) differed in terms of preferred tour activities, shopping propensity, and tour behavior. Active tourists rated the highest scores and passive ones rated the lowest for most evaluations.

Methods to Propel Tourism of Yeosu City Using Big Data (빅데이터를 활용한 여수관광 활성화 방안)

  • The fourth industrial revolution introduced at world economic forum in 2016 has had huge effects on tourism industries as well as the change of core technologies in ICT such as big data, IoT, etc, This paper proposes the methods to propel tourism of Yoesu city through big data analysis and questionnaires. Sensitive words and positive-negative trend are extracted by Social Metrics and the keywords for Yeosu tour trends are extracted and analyzed by Naver datalab, and the results are visualized by R language. And frequency, difference, factor, covariance and regression analysis in SPSS are executed for the questionnaires for 493 visitors who traveled in Yeosu city. Sentiment analysis for Yeosu tour and maritime cable car shows that positive effect is much more than negative one. The analyses for questionnaires in SPSS show that Yeosu area is statistically significant to tour satisfaction index and tour revitalization for Yeosu, and favorite sightseeing places and searching electronic devices for age groups are different. The sightseeing places such as a maritime park with soft contents that give joyfulness and healing to tourists are highly attracted in both the big data and questionnaires analysis.

  • The volume of transfer passengers now faces a crisis because the number of Chinese and Japanese passengers, the majority of transfer through Korea, is decreasing. This paper is analyzing the their air travel behaviors as well as characteristics of their transfer behaviors at airport. According to the research, it is suggested that transfer passengers perceive the importance of duty-free stores but their satisfaction of using duty-free stores during their transfer at Icheon airport was proven to be low. Considering the characteristics of transfer service quality at Incheon airport, waiting time of transfer is important but not satisfactory for them. Moreover, information of free transfer tour to city downtown and paid-in transfer tour for medical tourism is not known very well among North East Asian passengers. Thus, it is necessary to do detailed research of North East Asian transfer passengers, who have transferred through Incheon airport more than twice a year, to find out their exact needs of transfer tour in Korea.

  • The objective of this study is to suggest development methods of marine tour complexes by specializing and modernizing the renowned Jagalchi Fish Market. This study tries to suggest the ways of overcoming limitations of the traditional market place and making a unique tourism destination with affluent attractive culture elements. To preserve its position as the most famous fish market in Korea, Jagalchi market needs to more differentiate its position over competitors. To do that, it needs to avoid over-lapping of product categories among different sectors and specializing each zone according to the assigned theme. Improving tourism environments by expanding entertaining aspects, building landmark facilities and a seaside park, and tourism infrastructures. In addition, the development scheme needs to be planned unified with other city development plans to create a unified image, and a connection program with other tourism resources surrounding the target area needs to be created in order to pursue synergy effects. In the aspect of food, a large seafood center which offers various seafood from all around the world, a traditional night market street, various theme restaurants can be suggested. Successful development of the Jagalchi marine tour complexes not only has ripple effects on the region's culture, society, and other related industries but directly influences related regional tourism and commercial industry.

  • The XI World Congress on fertility and sterility was held during 26th June-2nd July 1983, in Dublin, Ireland. The general view and impression of the congress are as follows. Scientific Programme 1. Main sessions were consisted of a keynote speaker 30 minutes with 4 supporting speakers for 20 minutes each, followed by discussion between the panelist and audience. 2. Related communication sessions were consisted of a series of 10 minutes papers and 5 minutes discussion. 3. Workshop sessions had a free wheeling time-table of audience/expert interaction, subjects concerned day to day practicalities of fertility and sterility. 4. Special symposium sessions had contributed from a number of invited experts in a particular field under discussion. 5. National society symposium sessions were organised and ran by fertility societies affiliated to IFFS. 6. Meet-the-authnr poster sessions, Film and Video sessions, Medical and industrial exhibitions are also introduced here. Business Programme 1. The meeting of executive and scientific commitees IFFS were held on June 26th, July 1st, and general assembly on June 28th, and July 1st. 2. Accreditation : IFFS Dublin 83, is recognised for 32 cognates formal learning by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Social Programme 1. Dublin city orientation tour, welcome reception, Opening and closing ceremonies, evening of traditional Irish entertainment, Irish night at Powercourt Town-house Center, the banquet, State reception-(hosted by Minister of Health and Social secretary at Dublin Castle, and by the Lord Mayor of Dublin at National Concert Hall)-are introduced briefly in this paper. 2.   • This study focused on offering a helpful information for the touring. To develop a tour route guidance tool, it is needed to use a GIS function, which can suggest a possible shortest path based on time and distance. A Traveling salesman problem algorithm, which was developed to solve multi destination problem in network analysis, was used to implement a tour guidance system. This system was developed using ArcObjects programming components within ArcGIS 8.3. Jeju city was selected for the case study to apply the tool and to test the effectiveness of it. This study demonstrated that this tool was considerably effective for finding a probable optimum tour path in the following aspects. First, it can help tourists to select several attractions from numerous tour sites in an area given limited time. Second, tourist can manage time efficiently by organizing their tour courses on the basis of the tool. Third, tourists can reduce the uncertainties that may happen under unexpected situations in unfamiliar places by obtaining specific spatial information using the tool. Fourth, the Graphic User Interface of the tool can be easily used to obtain visual information of spatial data.

Developing Library Tour Course Recommendation Model based on a Traveler Persona: Focused on facilities and routes for library trips in J City (여행자 페르소나 기반 도서관 여행 코스 추천 모델 개발 - J시 도서관 여행을 위한 시설 및 동선 중심으로 -)

  • The library tour program is a new type of cultural program that was first introduced and operated by J City, and library tourists travel to specialized libraries in the city according to a set course and experience various experiences. This study aims to build a customized course recommendation model that considers the characteristics of individual participants in addition to the existing fixed group travel format so that more users can enjoy the opportunity to participate in library tours. To this end, the characteristics of library travelers were categorized to establish traveler personas, and library evaluation items and evaluation criteria were established accordingly. We selected 22 libraries targeted by the library travel program and measured library data through actual visits. Based on the collected data, we derived the characteristics of suitable libraries and developed a persona-based library tour course recommendation model using a decision tree algorithm. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed recommendation model, we build a mobile application mockup, and conducted user evaluations with actual library users to identify satisfaction and improvements to the developed model.

A Geographical Study on 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' written by Seo, geojeong (서거정의 '대구십영'에 관한 지리학적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to critically investigate the places of the 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)', written by Seo, Geojeong based on Chinese poem, old documents, and field surveys in terms of a geographical perspective. It is asserted that the controversial aspects on the 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' are corrected through the analysis of old documents and field surveys. The results are summarized in the followings. 1) Ascertain historical and geographical evidence on places of 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' are accomplished properly based on old documents and field surveys. 2) The existing misinterpretation of the 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' are corrected by the finding of one Chinese character in the 'Dongsasimseung(桐寺尋僧)', the seventh poem of 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' consisted of 10 Chinese poems. 3) Subjects and content of the 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' in Sagajib(四佳集) are more rightly written than those of the old documents such as Daegueubji(大丘邑誌), Sinjeungdonggukyeojiseungram(新增東國輿地勝覽). 4) A few mistakes in the subject and word of the 'Daegusibyeong (大丘十詠)' are corrected as compared with the those of the old documents. 5) It is assumed that the brand value and image of Daegu city will be improved if the 'Daegusibyeong(大丘十詠)' is restored based on the results of the study and its restoration is utilized in Daegu city tour program.
