Characteristics of Antitumor Antibiotics HS-1 from a Stveptomyces JIoridiae SHS-1372 (Streptomyces floridae SHS-1372가 생산하는 항암항생물질 HS-1의 특성)

  • Antitumor antibiotic HS-1 was purified from the culture broth of a streptomyces floridae SHS-1372 which had been isolated from soil, by solvent extraction, silica gel column chromatography and gel filtration. It was confirmed that HS-1 was active against gram positive bacteria and cancer cells(K562, P388, MCF-7, HT-29). Through the analysis of UV spectrum, melting point, IR spectrum, FAB-MS, $_{1}$H-NMR, $_{13}$C-NMR, 2D-NMR spectra, HS-1 could be identified sa the actinomycin X$_{2}$ antibiotics containing actinocine chromophore and peptides consisted of threonine, proline, methylvaline, sarcosine, D-valine and 4-ketoproline.

  • 1-(9,9-Di-octyl-fluorenyl)-2-substituted-2-cyanvinylene was synthesized and emission feature in solution are presented. Photoluminescence characteristics of 1-(9,9-Di-octyl-fluorenyJ)-2-substituted-2-cyanvinylene are measured by solvents such as carbon tetrachloride, normal hexane, chloroform, ethylaccetate, acetonitrile, methanol. It is shown that depending in the strength of the donor-acceptor internal charge transfer, and emission spectra are more or less red-shifted.

  • 3,3'-di-benzothiazole-4,4-biphenol(DBTB), 3,3',5,5'-tetra-benzothiazole-4,4'- biphenol(TBTB), 5,5'-methy lene-bis(2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl) benzothiazole derivatives were synthesized by multistep. PL of DBTB and TBTB were dramatically shift 47nm and 75nm respectively longer wavelength than the emission of 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)-benzothiazole(HBT) because of intramolecular extened $\pi$-conjugate system but methylene-bis-benzothiazole derivatives do not occur at Wavelength-shift.

  • Considerable progress has been made in organic photorefractive materials, since the first observation of photorefractive phenomena from organic materials. Within recent years, a large number of organic photorefractive materials, especially amorphous materials, have been developed based on polymeric composites, fully functional polymers and the multi-functional chromophore approach. Among these organic photorefractive materials, some of them containing carbazole components as a charge transporting function have been demonstrated to exhibit high performance photorefractive effects. The carbazole building blocks with charge transporting function or multifunctions play a very important role in photorefraction. In this paper, it confirmed that acceptor-substituted carbazoles show the multifunctionality both of photoconductivity and electro-optic(EO) activity and photorefractive materials newly can be developed with acceptor-substituted carbazoles.

  • Photoresponsive polymers are being intensely investigated over last two decades, which can be attributed to both fundamental and applied significance. Presently the attention is being directed to these materials in view of their possible application in nonlinear optics and optoelectronics. It was demnstrated quite early that by covalent fixation of both photochromic group and the mesogenic group to the same polymer main chain high concentration of photochromic group can be attained.(omitted)

  • Three diene-yn-diene chromophore type compounds were isolated from the flowers of Hemisteptia lyrata Bunge. On the basis of spectral data, isolated compounds were identified as heptadeca-1,7,9,13,15-pentaen-11-yne, 14-acetoxy-2,4,8,10-tetradecatetra-ene-6-yne and 14-hydroxy-2,4,8,10-tetradecatetraene-6-yn. They were first isolated from the genus of Hemisteptia.

  • 2-Quinazolylacetonitrile derivatives containing H-chelate have been synthesized from 2-cyanomethylquinazoline using electrophiles such as 4-chloroquinazoline, 4-chloro-2-phenylquinazoline, 4,6-dichloropyrimidine, 4,6-dichloro-2-phenylpyrimidine, 4,6-dichloro-5-phenylpyrimidine, 2-chloroquinoxaline, 1,3-dichloroisoquinoline, 2,6-dichloropyrazine, 2-chloropyrazine and 4,6-dichloro-2,5-diphenylpyrimidine. These H-chelates may serve as a polymethine chromophore system. Structures of the target molecules were identified by spectral methods.

  • Squarylium or squaraine dyes are derived from 1,2-dihydroxycyclobuten-3,4-dione, otherwise known as squaric acids. They are two principal types: the 1,2-bisdonorsubstituted derivatives, and the 1,3-bisdonorsubstituted derivatives. The former are essentially merocyanines and have no distinctive properties, whereas the latter represent a unique type of chromophore, which is neither a merocyanines nor cyanine and has exceptional light absorption characteristics. They also have many functional applications based on their special properties. Thus it was the objective of this research project to synthesize a range of 1,3-squarylium dyes of widely differing structural types, and to investigate their light absorption and fluorescence properties in general, and the color change properties of appropriate examples in particular. Also in this study, the various pHinduced colour change processes were examined.

  • Fluorescence of green fluorescent protein mutant, 2-5 GFP is observed during denaturation by guanidine. The fluorescence intensity decreases exponentially but the fluorescence lifetime does not change during denaturation. The fluorescence lifetime of the denatured protein is shorter than that of native form. As the protein structure is modified by guanidine, solvent water molecules penetrate into the protein barrel and protonate the chromophore to quench fluorescence. Most fluorescence quenchers do not affect the fluorescence of native form but accelerate the fluorescence intensity decay during denaturation. Based on the observations, a simple model is suggested for the structural change of the protein molecule during denaturation.

  • Indirect photometric detection of aliphatic compounds such as alcohols, ketones and esters was investigated in high-performance liquid chromatography, These samples possessing nonchromophore or weak chromophore could be indirectly detected by a UV detector with addition of UV absorbing, p-chlorophenol or p-nitrophenol in mobile phase as detection reagent, and submicrogram detection limits were achieved. Some mixtures of samples were also able to be separated and quantitated with good resolution and comparatively high sensitivity under optimum conditions.
