Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate oriental medical treatment of pediatric bronchial asthma. Method : Chinese medical journals which is about pediatric bronchial asthma were analyzed for a reference. Result : Oriental medical treatment can be classified into three ways; internal treatment, external treatment, and combination treatment which means combining with Chinese and Western ways of treatments. Conclusion : Oriental medical treatment of pediatric bronchial asthma is more effective therapy than Western's.

The objective of this study was to investigate the diagnosis and treatment of Sjogren's syndrome(SS) such as syndrome differentiation and herbal medicine by reviewing Chinese traditional medicine's journals. The journal search was carried out using China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and PubMed from January 2007 to July 2012. Searching key words were the various combination of "Sjogren's syndrome", "Traditional Chinese Medicine", "herbal medicine", and "syndrome differentiation". The final selection of 57 studies were extracted and summarized by two researchers independently. The syndrome differentiation was classified as yin deficiency with fluid depletion, yin deficiency with dryness heat, dryness toxin with yin damage, internal obstruction of static blood, dual deficiency of qi and yang, dampness-heat obstructing, wind with external contraction, liver qi depression, blood deficiency and wind-dryness, dual deficiency of yin and yang, and internal obstruction of phlegm-blood stasis. Liriope platyphylla(麥門冬), Rehmania glutinosa(生地黃), and Scrophularia buergeriana(玄蔘) were primarily prescribed to tonify yin, engender fluid and moisten dryness.

Purpose: Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets within or on the surface of an ovary. Most cysts present little or no discomfort and are noncancerous and harmless. So non-surgical treatments with herbal medicine or acupuncture and moxa therapy are important and suitable in this pathology. But there are few RCT articles about ovarian cyst in Korean Medicine(KM) clinical and research field. Methods: To review treatment method and other research tendency about ovarian cyst in journals related with KM and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) through web-searching. Searching was done through web site #http://omis.ksucc.ac.kr# and pub-med(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez) with key words #ovarian cyst#, #TCM#, #herb#, #CAM#, and #acupuncture#. Results: Seven articles were searched in journals related with KM, then six of them were simple case report and the other one was about diagnosis for ovarian cyst and another gynecologic disease such as uterine myoma and infertility through the iris diagnosis. And two articles were searched in journals related with TCM, then one of them was simple case report but the other is RCT article. Conclusion: KM and TCM therapies have some beneficial effect to resolve cyst, but objective power as a evidence is weak in the viewpoint of EBM. So continuous clinical trials such as RCT and multi center trials are needed.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the treatments of Stomatitis in Korean medicine. Methods : We reviewed domestic journals through databases on RISS, KISS, OASIS, KISTI to search case reports and follow-up studies about 'Stomatitis' and '口瘡' using the terms with 'Korean medicine' or 'Korean medicine treatment'. Also, we used CNKI to find Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) from Chinese journals by using the term '口腔炎'. Results : A total of 16 articles were searched. Those of 7 are case report, 2 are follow-up study, 7 are RCTs. The way to treat stomatitis were through using herb medicine, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, herbal acupuncture, external preparation, indirect moxibustion and so on. All papers reported that after Korean medicine treatment, symptoms of stomatitis are relieved. Conclusions : According to these journals, Korean medicine is helpful to treat Stomatitis. In the future, more clinical studies are needed to establish the foundation of Korean medicine to treat stomatitis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the trend of traditional Chinese medicine for sudden sensorineural hearing Loss(SSHL) in Chinese journals. Methods : Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and Wanfang med online were used to search randomized controlled trials(RCTs) on SSHL which were published from January, 2017 to December, 2021. Results : Among Chinese studies, Tonifying and Replenishing medicinal(補益藥) and Exterior-releasing medicinal(解表藥) were the most frequently used medicine in treating SSHL. Acori Graminei Rhizoma(石菖蒲) was the most frequently used herb excluding Glycyrrhizae Radix(甘草). All studies reported that using Traditional Chinese Medicine alone or combining western medicne(WM) is more effective for treating SSHL than using WM alone, although one study reported the result is not statistically significant. Conclusions : In analysis of selected studies, co-treatment of traditional chinese medicine and WM can be more effective way for treating SSHL than using WM alone. Side effects of treating SSHL can also be reduced by co-treatment of traditional chinese medicine and WM.

Objective : This study was designed to analyze the clinical studies on Tic disorder in traditional Korean medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Methods : To figure out the Tic disorder, Korean medical studies from Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS) and Chinese Medical Journals from Wangfang data and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) which published in 2008 to 2012 were analyzed. Results & Conclusions : 1. DSM-IV(7 studies), CCMD(3 studies) were frequently used in the diagnosis of tic disorder. 2. The herbs used for the treatment of tic disorder are Uncariae ramulus et Uncus(釣鉤藤), Paeoniae Radix Alba(白芍藥), Poria(白茯苓), Buthus martensi Karsch(全蝎) etc. 3. Acupuncture points frequently used were Paek'oe(GV20), Pungji(GB20), Naegwan(PC6), Sasinchong(EX-HN1), T'aech'ung(LR3), Joksamni(ST36), Hapgok(LI4) and so on. 4. The cause of Tic disorder is connected with liver, heart, spleen, kidney, gall bladder among the internal organs and Fire(火), Wind(風), Dampness(濕) of external causes.

Objectives The purpose of this research is to investigate recent clinical treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Compression Fracture. Methods We searched recent clinical studies about Oriental Medicine treatment in traditional chinese medical journals for Compression Fracture through China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Clinical articles published from 2012 to 2016 were analyzed. This study examined the authors, published years, types of study, number of sample, criteria for evaluation, periods, purposes of study and classified articles by techniques of treatment. Results 23 papers were selected from 98 studies. Most of articles were classified as RCT. The techniques of treatment were herb medicine, herb medicine apply therapy, herb medicine fumigation therapy, Dao yin exercise. Conclusions Various and valuable studies about treatment of Compression fracture performed in chinese medicine. And more studies using various treatment needed for Korean Medicine development.

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate clinical studies between 2015 and 2020 on the traditional Chinese medicine treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) using the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database. Methods We searched clinical studies on the Chinese medicine treatment published in traditional Chinese medical journals on CTS through the CNKI search. Fifteen published studies between 2015 and 2020 were chosen and examined for the year of publication, sample size, study design type, diagnosis and evaluation of diverse criteria, treatment period, purpose of the study, and classification based on the treatment technique. Results Out of 73 studies, 15 had practiced various Chinese medical treatments, such as acupuncture, moxibustion, manipulation, herbal medicine application therapy, and external herbal treatment. Conclusions Various studies have investigated the Chinese medicine treatment for CTS in China. To envelope the treatment of CTS in Korean medicine, steady and valuable therapies for high-level clinical research are required. In the future, this study could be helpful in the development of the treatment of CTS with Korean medicine.

Objectives : This study was performed to review the research tendency in traditional medical journals of epilepsy in China. Methods: 26 studies were selected by searching CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure) from 2006 to 2010. Results : Those were analyzed and classified into cause, symptoms, herbal therapy, acupuncture therapy, diagnosis, clinical trials, case studies and evalution of treatment in epilepsy. Conclusions : The results show that traditional medical researches of epilepsy are performed variously and actively in China and there are some differences comparing with Korea. I hope these results activate the studies on eilepsy in Korean traditional medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the current acupuncture treatment of autism. Methods : 13 Chinese clinical studies published in the last five years were selected for analyzing. Results : Treatment methods were used; massage of acupoints, electro acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, the general acupuncture and special acupuncture treatments for autism as Jin's three needling, Intelligence-increasing acupuncture. Commonly used acupoints were sishencong(四神總), shenting(神庭), benshen(本神), yintang(印堂), naohu(腦戶), naokong(腦空), bohui(百會), neiguan(內關), yanyu1qu(言語1區), yanyu2qu(言語2區), yanyu3qu(言語3區). 10 studies were showed the effects of acupuncture with total improvement rate and 7 of them were higher than 80%. Also, most of the studies showed the acupuncture treatment was extremely effective in improving autism children's speaking ability. Conclusions : Acupuncture have been shown as an effective treatment on autism. Further studies about various treatment using by acupuncture and the evaluation standard would be needed.
