Research Trends of Fashion Field among Chinese Students in Korea - Focused on Graduate Degree Thesis - (재한 중국인 유학생의 패션 분야 연구 동향 - 대학원 학위논문을 중심으로 -)

  • Since the mid 2000s, a large number of Chinese students have come to Korea to study. This study investigates the research trends of Chinese students studying in the fashion field in Korea. For this study, a total of 235 graduate degree theses on fashion written by Chinese students in Korea (from 1992 to 2014) were collected through the RISS website. Various keywords were used to find the theses, including fashion, clothing and costume. Factors used in the analysis of these theses were the number of theses per year, major of the student, research trend of specific areas and research target area. The results are as follows: Most of the theses were written by Fashion/Clothing majors (141 theses/60% of the total), while other majors - such as Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, Journalism/Broadcasting, and Movie Entertainment - made up the rest (94/40%). The theses researched in the study were focused on a specific field in fashion. Fashion Marketing/Socio-Psychology of Clothing was the most popular field (113/48.1%), and Fashion Design/Aesthetics came in second (87/37.0%). Other topics, such as Costume History, Clothing Construction/Textile Science, Costume Culture, followed. Chinese student's research target area was very limited, with Chinese Study being the most popular area, and Korean and Chinese Comparative Study coming in second.

  • Lately, the mental issues of Chinese worldwide understudies have become an unavoidable examination issue. As per important explores in different nations, the level of discouragement inclination of Chinese understudies has been on the ascent.   • Based on existing research, the psychological state of Chinese students has become a very significant issue that needs to be resolved. In addition to paying attention to the daily life and study of Chinese students, the psychological problems of Chinese students are also worthy of attention. At the same time, if the existing psychological problems are not resolved in time, serious consequences may result. Based on the ART(Attention Restoration Theory) theory, this article uses VR (Virtual Reality) content as a medium, uses 3D modeling software to build a healing scene that helps Chinese students improve their psychological and emotional state, and presents it in a VR device. To achieve the purpose of improving the psychological and emotional state of Chinese students. According to experimental tests, the VR recovery scene constructed by this method can help improve the psychological mood of Chinese international students who already have subliminal depression. The results of independent sample T-tests after data analysis experiments show that after the intervention of the experiment, the depression of the experimental group is significantly improved compared to the control group. It is proved that the method in this study is effective for the mentality and emotion of Chinese international students who have subliminal depression. There is a significant improvement effect.

  • This study deals with the role and responsibility of university library in multicultural society. For this purpose, centered the Chinese students in Pusan University, with internet questionnaire surveys on customer satisfaction to the current library portal service and set up a effective digital library evaluation model. In the meanwhile we borrowed evaluation methods and items from LibQUAL+ in part, a world wide famous model, and use Tsinghua University Library's evaluation statistic norms. To summarize the results of this survey, Chinese student's service satisfaction about Pusan University library is still fairly low. Undergraduate and graduate students(including doctor courses) group follows, undergraduates student's satisfaction level is lower than graduate. By analyzing simple satisfaction we can know that library portal service maintained low importance or influence to the user, to internet space user's satisfaction is a relatively high level. And compared with other dimension, statistic data show out that internet space user's satisfaction still maintained a relative high level.

  • The formation of Chinese Town in Malacca of Malaysia and Singapore would explain that Chinese gradually played an important role of commerce and urban service according to the Western European advance to southeast Asia and the construction of colonial cities from the 16th century to 19th and massed residence in many cites of southeast Asia. Chinese was usually separated from the Western European by western colonial policy and city planning. Common architectural characteristics in Chinese towns of Malaysia can refer to the transmission of the Chinese architectural material, the combination of dwelling and commerce in a house and the space organization centered on a court or an air well in the narrow and long site, lying adjacent to street etc. The Chinese dwellings in Malaysia rooted with Chinese settlement in southeast Asia. The Chinese dwellings was not always a shop on 1th floor and a dwelling on 2nd floor before the 19th century. But as Chinese immigration and commercial activity progressed in earnest in the early of 19th century, the row house of Chinese for dwelling was autonomously changed to two functional shophouse for dwelling and commerce. Chinese row house can refer to the use of Malay regional material, change of symmetrical Chinese traditional housing type by the narrow and long site and the tendency of the eclectic elevation of Western and China. Another architectural characteristics of the shophouse is an appearance of the continuous verandah with a cover regulated by Stamford Raffles in Singapore. This regulation was applied to architecture in Chinese Town as Stamford Raffles constructed Singapore. It was spread to South China reversely and became the regulation of streetscape for the modern city. Shophouse of Chinese towns in Southeast Asia and south China can be understood by context of Chinese immigration, colonialism, housing type of commerce and dwelling and the Western European city planning.

Affecting Factors on the Living Satisfaction Degree in University Dormitory's Service: Focusing on the Foreign Students of "G" University (대학교 기숙사 생활 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인: G대학 외국인 학생을 중심으로)

  • Government and many universities have been trying to get the more international students. Foreign students in university are increasing remarkably in Korea. So these authorities have to consider their service competency for new foreign student's living satisfaction. In this paper, we described about the living satisfaction degree on the university dormitory's service in Korea. After reviewing and summarizing the related literatures, our hypotheses are established which the satisfaction be affected by some service factors such as facility, foods, and noise factors in university dormitory's environments. The 99 Chinese students living in G-university dormitory responded to our study. Empirical analysis was performed among a university in Sungnam city named as G-university by using questionnaires sheets. Analysis results are show that satisfaction degree on the university dormitory's service is affected significantly by facility and foods service factors respectively. However noise factor was not the significant variable.

  • In TFT-LCD, mura is a defect which degrades the display quality. The resistance difference between gate lines is the main cause of H-Block mura. Two methods could eliminate this defect. A thinner gate layer or gate fan-out pattern decrease mura level. H-Block mura has been reduced after implementing the new schemes.

  • This study investigated the effects of life stress, cultural adaptation stress, and academic satisfaction amongst a total of 283 20's Chinese students majoring in cosmetology at colleges in Seoul. For this, data was collected from February to March 2017. The frequency analysis was conducted to verity the general characteristic of Chinese student studying in Korea who are study objects while utilizing SPSS Statistics V22.0 for data processing and analysis while the factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted to investigate the validity of measurement tool and evaluate the reliability. Moreover, the regression analysis between variables and regression analysis were utilized. The results found the following: First, in terms of life stress, as peer relationship, appearance stress, economic stress, family relationship stress and academic stresses decreased, their academic satisfaction increased. Second, regarding cultural adaptation stress, as interpersonal and living culture stresses were lowered, academic satisfaction increased. Therefore, this study targets to derive implications on an efficient plan to improve the academic satisfaction of Chinese students studying in the Republic of Korea by developing and providing a proper academic program with a decent support system in terms of culture, life, and education after investigating their life and cultural adaptation stresses.

Teacher's Emotional Leadership Practices and Policy Implication (교사의 감성적 리더십의 실제와 정책적 시사점)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine teacher's emotional leadership practices and to suggest their educational policy implication. To do so, a survey was conducted on Chinese-Korean students in Yanbian area. Data samples were 605 students at three high schools. The major results are summarized as follows: First, the teacher's emotional leadership is an important variable to improve student's self-directed learning. Second, it is suggestive that the teacher should focus on developing students personal competences such as self awareness and self management rather than social competences. Lastly, the teacher should focus on and improve satisfaction of student's school life first, and try to increase student's self-directed learning. However, various variables that may influence teacher's emotional leadership should be included in the further study.

  • This study aimed to develop an educational program for improving the learning competencies of major courses for Chinese graduate students who account for more than 70% of international students in Korea. In this study, the program was developed using Caffarella and Daffron's interactive model. Due to the internationalization of education, the number of foreigners who study in Korea for degree courses has already exceeded 100,000, but the dropout rate has increased due to the maladjustment to university life. More specifically, they face difficulties in academic achievement because of a lack of understanding lecture contents, conducting research, and presenting in class. Therefore, this study surveyed the Chinese students in the graduate course to identify the difficulties and needs in their study of major courses and to reflect those needs (major knowledge, communication, assignment writing, and presentation) in program development. This study focused on developing an educational program for improving their learning competencies of major courses rather than simply improving Korean language skills or adapting to university life. The results of the study are expected to help Chinese Graduate students perform well in their major course studies and make their study abroad successful.
