The aim of this study is to examine children's desires in a toy library and what they want to do there in order to reflect their opinions on constructing a toy library in a child care center. The study has been conducted by participatory observation on a 'toy library' project consisting of 20 five-year-olds attending B public child care center in Seoul. Observational notes were taken with voice and video recordings. The results of analysis on collected data are as follows. First, the children wanted to call the toy library a toy playground because a toy library is not for study but for play and they wanted space for rest and display with no surveillance camera. Second, they wanted to play freely without any interruption, even leaving things scattered and also wanted to play with parents and friends. Discussion followed in the view of children's right to play and to express their opinions.

Recently with the emergence of the digital age and the progress of the learning economy, the role of library is expanding from archiving and providing information to education and community service. In this paradigm child education programs at public libraries are strongly demanded by the community. The goal of this study is to analyze the educational roles of child education programs currently being implemented in public libraries. This research tries to incorporate the current child education program into a constructivist perspective. In conclusion, the designed and proposed model in this study was then applied to public libraries' reading education program, and the case was verified through empirical examination and investigation. These studies revealed that the designing of constructivist teaching and the learning model for child education programs was positively verified and found some strategic implication for the development of child education programs in public libraries.

The goal of library goes beyond providing information and it also strengthens the education programs for children. The purpose of this study is to analyze the educational role of librarian related to the education programs at library. For this purpose, a research model related to librarians' role for library's child education programs was designed. This research model is based on the constructivist teaching and learning theory. The designed and proposed model was then applied to 5 cases of Korean public library's education programs and some recommendations are suggested for better educational effects.

Currently, there is no library only for children in Korea, but as people realized that reading education was important, public libraries have started making space for children. However, most of spaces in public library were designed regardless of physical development and behavior. Therefore it was even worse for children to use library. Planning must be concerned about indoor surroundings that satisfy children's psychological desire and characteristic. Consequently, this study is going to have a thorough grasp of the problems of children library, and present organized information which fits their reading environment and human technology.

The purposes of this study are to analyze the effectiveness of public library reading programs for children in qualitative way and to apply the outcomes to identify areas to measure the success of library reading programs. Interviews were conducted with children who participated in '2013 Reading Books with Libraries' program and adults who were in charge of managing the program. Observations on the program were also conducted. The findings indicate that children who participated in '2013 Reading Books with Libraries' program positively changed in various aspects. Selected areas to measure the success of library reading programs include: reading behavior; attitude to books; awareness of libraries and librarians; participation of library reading programs; the ability to read aloud; the ability to comprehend stories by listening; aggression; the ability to express one's own feelings; speech ability; concentration power; and undiscovered potential. The elements that affect the success or failure of library reading programs include: librarian's enthusiasm on running the reading program; environmental condition of the community child care center; age differences between child participants; running style of the instructor's program; selection of books; child participants' reading abilities and interests in reading; available time for free voluntary reading.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of research system and contents of thesis which was published with a theme of child tea ceremony education. Under this purpose we have searched the thesis related to the child tea ceremony education which was in the data base of the National Assembly Library, the National Library of Korea, Korea Education & Research Information Service and we have collected total of 22 analyzing subject data. The major results of this study are as followings: First, after analyzing the research system, the release year of child tea ceremony education study which was published from year 2000 to 2009 are shown as followings, 1 unit in year 2000, 2 units in year 2001, 2002 & 2003, 4 units in year 2004, 5 units in year 2005, 2 units in year 2006, 1 unit in year 2007, 2 units in year 2008, 1 unit in year 2009. The publishing type were 14 units of master's degree thesis, 6 units of academic journal, 2 units of doctor's degree thesis. The academic area of researchers are 8 units of propriety and tea culture, 5 units of early childhood education, 5 units of child welfare, 2 units of family culture and consumer, 1 each unit of counseling psychology and korean culture. As per the research method there were 15 units of experimental study, 6 units of reference research, and 1 unit of thesis which adopts both interview and case study. Second, as a result of analyzing the research contents, the goal of child tea ceremony education was shown to be a holistic child growth and development, a formation of basic living habit, a development of pride on traditional culture and an establishment of national identity. The contents of child tea ceremony education has been classified into 57 items. The activity of child tea ceremony education has been classified into 34 items. The vitalizations of child tea ceremony education is shown to be a education for parents and teachers, a development of systematic educational program, durability of child tea ceremony education, and a verification of effectiveness of child tea ceremony education.

Subjects of this study on reading motivation were 300 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade elementary school children. Instruments were the Motivation for Reading Questionnaire (Wigfield and Guthrie 1997; Kwun, 2002) and a School Reading Environment questionnaire developed by the researcher. Results showed that (1) the school reading environment (SRE) of 2nd graders was better than the SRE of 4th and 6th graders. (2) The reading motivation (RM) of 2nd graders was higher than the RM of 4th graders on external purposes; the RM of 4th graders was higher than 6th graders on self-efficacy and social interaction. (3) RM correlated positively with all aspects of SRE. (4) RM was affected by grade in school followed by school library environment and classroom library environment.

This research is about Social Education, Reading Movement and Meaning of the Gyeongseong Library which observe from ethnic viewpoint. The result is same as following. First, The Gyeongseong library is the unique library which korean people build, and they thought very seriously. So, tried to keep this library for a long time. The Gyeongseong library supplied knowledge to Korean, although the life was not long. And, as ethnic business value of the Gyeongseong library was much, too. Second, the Gyeongseong library paid attention to child education and education of women as well as it is our country's first public library. And accomplished social education institution's role. Third, readers' of the library was that man was most and the fair readers was minor part, and student was mainly(distinction of sex and profession tendency). And literature, language study etc. got to read most.

The world has rapidly become culturally diverse, and Korea has gradually grown into a multicultural society, mainly due to marriage immigrants and foreign laborers, whose number exceeds over one million nationally. Their adjustment and acculturation in Korea, however, dose'nt seem painless and untroubled, and public libraries are in duty to provide multicultural service for these population. Providing useful services on the homepage makes it possible for users to find the information they need without having to visit the actual library. A more detailed research will be conducted by examining the multicultural services provided by the public libraries in Australia, Canada, the United States, and Japan, the leading multicultural societies. The further examination will be conducted on these libraries in terms of four aspects, that is, information, literacy, education, and culture, as declared by Public Library Menifesto. In Korea, translation and interpretation services, homework help, child literacy are necessary services at the public library, Management of independent multicultural site, shared services between Regional Central Library and Community Public Library, cooperation with libraries, government and organization will be helpful to multicultural library services.

The attitudes and interests of parents toward having better interrelationships with their children will have the greatest positive impact on the mental health of a growing child. The purpose of this study is to elicit how to effectively use bibliotherapy to promote interaction between parents and children. Based on action research methods, and in order to achieve the research objectives, the parent-child bibliotherapy target program was divided into two "lanes" and a total of 25 iterations were performed or observed for every process in detail and with different technologies. According to the result, the bibliotherapy helps improve parent-child interaction.
