밀링 가공 시 채터 진동 예측의 해석적 방법 (Analytical Prediction of Chatter Vibration in Milling Process)

  • This paper presents the analytical prediction of stability lobes in milling. The stability lobes are obtained by measuring the frequency response function (FRF) of a machining center at the cutting point of the end mill cutter, identifying cutting constants, and approximating cutting force coefficients. The stability lobes are experimentally verified through cutting tests.

  • In this study, the static and dynamic characteristics of turning process was modelled and the analytic realization of regen-erative chatter mechanism was discussed. In this regard, we have discussed on the comparative assessment of recursive times series modeling algorithms that can represent the machining process and detect the abnormal machining behaviors in precision turning operation. In this study, simulation and experimental work were performed to show the malfunction behaviors. For this purpose, new Recursive Extended Instrument Variable Method(REIVM) was adopted for the on-line system identification and monitoring of a machining process. Also, we can apply REIVE algorithms in real process for the detection of chatter frequency and dynamic property and analyze the stability lobe of the system by changing a parameter of cutting dynamics in regenerative chatter mechanics, if it is stable or unstable, Also, The stability lobe of chatter was analysed.

  • Machine tool chatter is the self-excited vibration generated by chip thickness variation and severely degrades the quality of machined surface. The incidence of chatter is greatly affected by the dynamic characteristics of machine tool structure. Therefore, the cutting dynamics in the parallel machine tool is to be carefully studied considering the dynamic characteristics of parallel mechanism. In this paper, the vibration model of parallel machine tool is derived, in which the legs of the parallel mechanism are considered as spring-damper systems. The chatter stability charts for various machining parameters are examined with the example of the cubic parallel mechanism that is specially designed for machine tool use.

  • Vibrations in machine tools make many problems in precision, production efficiency, and machine performance. The relative vibration between a workpiece and a tool is very complicated due to many sources. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of a newly developed CNC lathe were analyzed and its chatter characteristics were predicted by a chatter analysis method using finite element analysis and 3 dimensional cutting dynamics. The simulated results showed very complex characteristics of chatter vibration and the borderline of limiting depth of cut was used as the stability limit. To check the validity of this method, cutting tests were done in the CNC lathe using a boring bar as a tool because boring process is very weak due to long overhang . The experimental results showed that the simplified borderline was to be considered as limiting depth of cut at which the chatter vibration starts and the stability limits depended on various cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed and nose radius of tool.

2자유도 채터진동의 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the chatter vibration of two degree of freedom systems)

  • Three dimensional cutting is considered as an equivalent orthogonal cutting through the plane containing both the cutting velocity vector and the chip flow velocity vector in dynamic cutting process. An analytical expression of dynamic cutting force is obtained from the cutting parameters determined by the static cutting. Particular attention is paid to the energy supplied to the vibratory system of cutting tool with two degree of freedom. In this approach, the phase lag of the horizontal vibration of the tool behind the vertical vibration and the direction angle of the fluctuating cutting force is considered in point of stability limits. Chatter vibration can be effectively suppressed by relatively increasing the spring constant and the damping coefficient of the cutting system in the vertical cutting force direction. A good agreement is found between the stability limits predicted by theoretical value and experimental results.

  • There have been many researches on machine tool vibration and chatter to obtain assessment procedure and more productivity. In this paper chatter limit is predicted on a universal machining center which used a parallel mechanism. The prediction method uses the combination of structural dynamic characteristics and cutting dynamics. So the dynamic characieristics were obtained by vibration experiments. We showed the unstable cutting conditions, and from them we could plot the unstable borderlines.

  • 본 연구에서는 정적절삭실험으로 결정될수 있는 절삭변수로 표현되는 동적 절삭력을 해석적으로 구한다. 이 모델은 3차원 절삭형태에도 적용될 수 있는 특성을 갖는다. 새로이 제안된 절삭 과정의 모델은 동적절삭상태에서 절삭력 합력의 변화를 고려한 절삭기구를 통해 이루어지며, 해석적으로 한계절삭폭을 구한다. 실험적 규명 은 채터진동이 발생하지 않는 한계절삭 공작물에 비해 공구의 강성이 상대적으로 적은 보링(boring)작업에서 발생하는 것을 대상으로 하였다.

  • Drilling chatter is regenerative type self-excited vibration and can be predicted by the measurments of the dynamic compliance between tool and workpiece based on structural dynamics and cutting dynamics. This paper describes the theoretical prediction about drilling chatter and the mechanism of the formation of multi-coner shape in holes by drilling chatter. By the experiments and theoretical study, it is found that the odd number of multi-coner shape is always generated by drilling chatter.

  • This paper analyzes high efficiency anti-vibration boring bars which increase stability against chatter vibration in boring operations. Structural analysis and mathematical modeling with considering dynamic properties for three types of existing boring bars are performed to search for optimal design parameters. The purpose of this paper is to find out design parameters for high efficiency anti-vibration boring bar.

  • To improve productivity of a metal cutting process, it is required to monitor machining stability in real time. Since cutting environment is harsh against sensing conditions due to vibration, chip, and cutting fluid, etc., it is necessary to develop a robust and reliable sensing system for the practical application. In this work, a chatter monitoring system was developed and its effectiveness was proved. Spindle displacement caused by cutting was selected as a main monitoring parameter. A cylindrical capacitive displacement sensor was adopted. Chatter frequencies were identified through modal analysis. To quantify chatter vibrations, chatter correlation coefficient was introduced. The identification of the monitoring system showed a good agreement with the result of experiment.
