This simulator is developed for the analysis of a MOSFET based on Thermally Coupled Energy Transport Model(TCETM). The simulator has the ability to calculate not only stationary characteristics but also non - stationary characteristics of a MOSFET. It solves basic semiconductor devices equations including Possion equation, current continuity equations for electrons and holes, energy balance equation for electrons and heat flow equation, using finite difference method. The conventional semiconductor device simulation technique, based on the Drift-Diffusion Model (DDM), neglects the thermal and other energy-related properties of a miniaturized device. I, therefore, developed a simulator based on the Thermally Coupled Energy Transport Model (TCETM) which treats not only steady-state but also transient phenomena of such a small-size MOSFET. In particular, the present paper investigates the breakdown characteristics in transient conditions. As a result, we found that the breakdown voltage has been largely underestimated by the DDM in transient conditions.

This paper presents an analytical approach for the vibration characteristics of a piezoelectric disc for torsional vibration transducers. The characteristic equation of the piezoelectric annular disc has been derived from Gibbs' free energy equations and mechanical and electrical equilibrium. With an anisotropic material properties of the disc, the characteristic equation has yielded resonance frequencies. Numerically-calculated results have been compared with the results obtained by the finite element analysis and experiments and have confirmed the validity of the theoretical analysis.

This paper presents the calculation of opening characteristics for puffer GCB with the equations of the flow field and the motion of the driving mechanism. To obtain the stroke curve, the motion equation is solved simultaneously with the Euler equations. For a given Piston location, the flow field is solved. The pressure inside the Puffer chamber is then used to calculate the moving velocity and the new position of the piston. The FVFLIC method is employed to solve the axisymmetric Euler equations and the motion equation is solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The method is applied to the puffer GCB model and the stroke curve and the pressure rise in puffer chamber under no load condition are compared with the measured ones.
In this study, field measurements of vibration on the structures supporting railroad track were performed. The vibration data obtained were analyzed to find out any correlation between its magnitude and several factors such as type of bridges, distance from the track, type of train, frequency characteristics, etc. As a result, the magnitude of vibration turned out to be the highest in the steel bridge, the concrete bridge and steel-concrete combined bridge were the next in descending order. It was also found that the dynamic characteristics of ground were the most important factors among several affecting vibration near by the railroad track. And the empirical ground vibration estimation equation for estimating ground vibration was developed. The proposed equation with respect to distances from the railroad could be easily used for the estimation of ground vibration at the residential areas nearby the track.
This paper presents the method of estimating integral coefficients of new distance relaying algorithm for transmission line protection. The proposed method is based on the differential equation calculates impedance value by approximation of integral term of integro-differential equation which relate voltage with current. As a result, we can determine the integral coefficients in least square error sense in frequency domain and we take into consideration the analog filter characteristics and frequency domain characteristics of the system to be protected. The simulation results showed that these coefficients can be successfully used to obtain impedance value in distance relay.

This paper describes the electron transport characteristics in $SiH_4$ gas calculated for the range of E/n:0.5~300(Td) and Pressure:0.5, 1, 2.5(Torr) by the Monte carlo simulation and Boltzmann equation method using a set of electron collision cross sections determined by the reported results. The motion has been calculated to give swarm parameters for the electron drift velocity, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients, the electron ionization coefficients, characteristics energy and the electron energy distribution function. The electron energy distributions function has been analysed in $SiH_4$ at E/N: 30, 50(Td)for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean electron energy and respective set of electron collision cross sections. The results of Monte carlo simulation and Boltzmann equation have been compared with experimental data by ohmori ad Pollock.
We study a multidimensional nonlinear variational sine-Gordon equation, which can be used to describe long waves on a dipole chain in the continuum limit. By using the method of characteristics, we show that a solution of a nonlinear variational sine-Gordon equation with certain initial data in a multidimensional space has a singularity in finite time.
In a spool valve analysis, the Reynolds equation is commonly used to investigate the lubrication characteristics. However, the validity of the Reynolds equation is questionable in a spool valve analysis because cavitation often occurs in the groove and the depth of the groove is much higher than the clearance in most cases. Therefore, the validity of the Reynolds equation in a spool valve analysis is investigated by comparing the results obtained from the Reynolds equation and the Navier-Stokes equation. Dimensionless parameters are determined from a nondimensional form of the governing equations. The differences between the lateral force, friction force, and volume flow rate (leakage) obtained by the Reynolds equation and those obtained by the Navier-Stokes equation are discussed. It is shown that there is little difference (less than 10%), except in the case of a spool valve with many grooves where no cavitation occurs in the grooves. In most cases, the Reynolds equation is effective for a spool valve analysis under a no cavitation condition.
The purpose of this study is to propose new hysteretic characteristics of medium- to low-rise RC structures controlled by both shear and flexure. Through previous study, the dual lateral force-resisting system composed of shear and flexural failure members has a new failure mechanism that cooperates to enhance the flexural capacity of the flexural failure member even after the failure of the shear member, and the existing theoretical equation significantly underestimates the ultimate strength. In this study, the residual lateral strength mechanism of the dual lateral force-resisting system was analyzed, and, as a result, an equation for estimating the residual flexural strength of each shear-failure member was proposed. The residual flexural strength of each shear-failure member was verified in comparison with the structural testing results obtained in previous study, and the proposed residual flexural strength equation for shear-failure members was tested for reliability using FEA, and its applicable range was also determined. In addition, restoring-force characteristics for evaluating the seismic performance of the dual lateral force-resisting system (nonlinear dynamic analysis), reflecting the proposed residual flexural strength equation, were proposed. Finally, the validity of the restoring-force characteristics of RC buildings equipped with the dual lateral force-resisting system proposed in the present study was verified by performing pseudo-dynamic testing and nonlinear dynamic analysis based on the proposed restoring-force characteristics. Based on this comparative analysis, the applicability of the proposed restoring-force characteristics was verified.
We propose an improved interpolating equation to express temperature-resistance characteristics for modern industrial platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs). Callendar-van Dusen equation which has been widely used for platinum resistance thermometer fails to fully describe temperature characteristics of high quality PRTs and leaves systematic residual when the calibration point include temperatures above $300^{\circ}C$. Expanding Callendar-van Dusen to higher-order polynomial drastically improves the uncertainty of the fitting even with reduced degrees of freedom of the fitting. We found that in the fourth-order polynomial fitting, the third-order and fourth-order coefficients have a strong correlation. Using the correlation, we suggest an improved interpolating equation in the form of fourth-order polynomial, but with three fitting parameters. Applying this interpolating equation reduced the uncertainty of the fitting to 32 % of that resulted from the traditional Callendar-van Dusen. This improvement was better than that from a simple third-order polynomial despite that the degrees of the freedom of the fitting was the same.
