Vying with IKEA: HANSSEM's Competitive Advantage at Marketing Frontier

  • HANSSEM is a furniture company that leads the market of residential space in Korea. The goal of this case study is to focus on how HANSSEM copes with IKEA, the world's largest furniture retailer after entering the Korean market in December 2014. IKEA's entry into Korea is possible to destroy the existing orders in the retail industry and reduce the profit of incumbent local players by realigning industry relationships. However, HANSSEM achieved rapid growth with the largest market share in the furniture market through its internal capabilities. The authors propose the main success factors in three ways: (1) residents-database including apartment floorplans in Korea, (2) high-quality human services provided by construction and A/S (After-sales Service), (3) channel diversification that provides comprehensive consultations (e.g., flagship stores, home shopping channels, stores in marts, and interior dealers). Especially, there have been various consumer needs in Korean market, such as creating their own stylish space economically. HANSSEM meets customer's needs by reinforcing the space-package (complete-interior is provided to customer in a package rather than combining individual piece of furniture) and opening showrooms, which makes customers freely experience the products and receive detailed consultations on interior designs by alleviating customers' difficulties in decorating their homes. Based on HANSSEM's outstanding activities and new investments, we look forward to seeing that HANSSEM will achieve its ultimate goal of maintaining the position of number one furniture company by attaining customer satisfaction through higher quality in Korea.

Web 인지도를 반영한 전자상거래 마케팅 채널 경쟁에 관한 연구 (Analysis of marketing Channel competition in Electronic Commerce Incorporating Web Awareness)

  • The proliferation of electronic commerce(EC) has led manufactureres to consider Internet based marketing as a salient candidate for strategic diversification of marketing channel. In this case, each manufacturer can build its own Web store or rent an existing special EC store. Such decision making of ‘build’ or ‘rent’ can be analyzed by a game model which derives the Nash solutions for price and profit considering degree of competition with other competitive manufacturers. In this paper, to overcome the drawbacks of the traditional linear demand function, we first propose a new linear demand function which incorporates not only the price difference between competitive products but the awareness of Web stores perceived by the consumers, then design the game models to analyze the characteristics of three typical types of marketing channel in duopoly market. Based on the Nash solutions of the game models, we analyzed the effect of the degree of competition and Web awareness in selecting the optimal marketing channel.

한국 기업의 중국 유통시장의 진출 전략에 관한 연구 (A study on the Entry Strategy of Chinese Distribution Market in Korean Company)

  • The China has opened the distribution market completely since it joined the World Trade Organization on Dec 11 2001. The notable features of Chinese distribution market are the transition from the consumers' monolithic demand to diversification for the luxury goods, well-being products. The regional characteristics of consumers are smart, conservative, optimistic and advanced. and the open door policy has prompted the capitalistic economy gradually. We analyzed the Chinese distribution markets and came up with the following strategies. First, we recommend the setting of the key regional market not covering the whole chinese markets. then we can extend the main market step by step. Second, we need to cooperate and advance with the Korean distribution companies which entered into markets already. Third, we need to acquire the competitive and stable distribution channel in China. Fourth, we need to implement the localization strategy in terms of human resources and procurement. Fifth, the consignment management can be another strategy. I hope this research can be a little help to those who wish to expand to the Chinese markets.

도서관 유튜브(YouTube) 채널의 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Methods for Activating Libraries' YouTube Channel)

  • 5G 시대 단말기의 다양화, 고화질 및 몰입형 중심의 SNS 전개로 동영상 중심의 소셜 미디어 패러다임이 계속적으로 심화되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 공공도서관에서 운영되고 있는 유튜브 채널의 운영과 제공 콘텐츠 현황에 대한 분석을 통해 다양한 활용 전략과 방안을 제안하는 데 있다. 본 연구에서는 도서관 유튜브 채널을 개설 및 운영하고 있는 국내의 44개 도서관과 구독자 수 1,000명 이상 도서관 유튜브 채널을 활발하게 활용하고 있는 국외 도서관 12개를 대상으로, 도서관 유튜브 채널의 구독자 수, 조회 수, 비디오 수 데이터 현황, 그리고 콘텐츠 내용과 전달 방식을 조사하였다. 분석 결과를 종합하여, 1) 도서관 유튜브 채널만이 가지는 특수성과 목적성을 확보, 2) 유튜브 채널의 홍보 및 접근성 제고, 3) 공공도서관에서 개설 및 운영하는 유튜브 채널임을 명시, 4) 이용자 친화적인 인터페이스로의 개선, 5) 도서관 전문성과 교육적 콘텐츠를 기획 및 제공, 6) 통합 유튜브 채널의 운영, 7) 이용자 기반 콘텐츠 제공 등의 도서관 유튜브 채널 활용방안을 제안하였다.

  • 본 연구는 인터넷 경로 도입으로 인한 경로배제위협이 여행사의 대응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 가를 검토하기 위하여 진행되었다. 우선 여행사가 취할 수 있는 대응방안을 경로역량의 강화, 거래분산화 경향, 그리고 사업영역변경 의도로 구분하였다. 그리고 전통적인 경로상의 대응과 인터넷을 활용한 대응이라는 측면을 추가하여 가설을 도출하였다. 주된 논의는 경로유형 간 경쟁에 근거를 두었으며, 재중간상화의 논의를 추가하여 인터넷을 활용한 대응에 대한 논의를 제시하였다. 결과에서 전통적인 판매역량 강화는 여행사의 경로배제위협의 인식에 영향을 받지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 나머지의 가설들은 기대와 같이 지지되었다.

The distribution channel, strategic factor and firm performance: Evidence from FDI enterprises

  • Purpose: Research on the development of distribution channels and the strategy will help businesses develop competitiveness in the market. At the same time, the excellent effect of distribution channels and the outstanding implementation of business strategies will help optimize firm performance. Therefore, this study helps to evaluate the influence of distribution channels, and strategy factors on the performance of FDI enterprises in Vietnam. Research design, data, and methodology: Research using quantitative method with PLS-SEM model based on 210 samples using Smart-PLS3. software. The survey subjects are corporate managers who understand the strategies, distribution channels, and performance in Vietnamese FDI enterprises. Results: The analysis results show that strategy factors have a positive effect on firm performance, and distribution channel also has a positive impact on firm performance. This result also indicates that distribution channels activity as an intermediary between strategy and firm performance. Conclusion: The study also gives some policy implications on strategy and distribution channels to improve firm performance. The strategic implementation of finance, human resources, risk, innovation, and diversification of distribution channels are implications for improving firm performance in FDI enterprises. In addition, the research has contributed to the relationship between the distribution channels and firm performance.

대응분석을 이용한 은행 채널전략 수립연구 : 고객의 은행채널 선택요인을 바탕으로 (Establishment of Bank Channel Strategy using Correspondence Analysis : Based on the Customer's Choice Factors of Bank Channel)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 은행의 효율적인 채널전략 수립을 위해 채널을 유형별로 분류하고, 분류된 유형에 따라 대응분석을 실시하여 채널모형을 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 은행원 대상 설문조사를 실시하여 범주형 자료를 시각화하고 포지셔닝 맵을 작성하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 12개 은행채널을 업무처리 주체와 장소를 기준으로 4개 유형으로 분류하고, 이를 다시 풀뱅킹과 셀프뱅킹으로 그룹화 하였다. 둘째, 분류된 유형에 따라 대응분석을 실시하여 점포형은 상품설명과 고객관리에 적합하고, 뱅킹형은 시·공간 제약 없이 효율적인 업무처리에 적합하며, 기기형과 뱅킹형은 고객관리에 부적합하고, 이동형은 인식부족으로 운영효과가 낮은 상태라는 결과를 도출하였다. 이는 은행업무의 특성을 반영하고 채널간 부족한 부분을 보완하는 하이브리드형 융합채널이 필요함을 의미한다. 셋째, 업무처리주체와 장소로 구성된 2×2모형위에 공통분면이 추가된 채널모형을 도출하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 고객의 은행채널 선택요인을 바탕으로 채널 다각화와 채널유형 별 역할분담 요소를 고찰함에 기여하고, 미래채널 전략수립과 효율적인 채널운영을 위한 기초연구 결과를 제시하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 가진다.

도시하천의 환경특성과 친자연적 계획전략 - 춘천시 공지천을 대상으로 - (Environmental Characteristics and Nature-friendly Planning Strategies for an Urban Stream - The Case of Chuncheon's Gongji Stream -)

  • This study analyzed characteristics of natural and human environments in Chuncheon's Gongji stream, and suggested nature-friendly planning strategies for self-purification of water quality, biodiversity improvement and conservative waterfront recreation. The environmental analysis included streambed structures, floodplain soils, water quality, vegetation, wildlife, and human facilities. Natural colonization of vegetation for the middle section of the study stream was obstructed by a straightened concrete revetment of baseflow channel, and vehicle movement and concrete parking lots across the floodplain. These human disturbances also deteriorated the naturalness of the stream landscape and limited habitation of bird species. However, natural sedimented wetlands in half of the channel width for the lower section of the stream contributed to a desirable vegetational landscape and greater bird occurrence. Based on BOD measurements, water quality of the stream fell under class $II{\sim}III$ of the stream water-quality standard, but it was worse around sewage outlets due to incomplete sewage collection especially during the dry season. Dominant fish species included typical inhabitants of good water-quality streams that are tolerant of adverse habitat changes. Nature-friendly planning strategies were established based on analysis of the environmental characteristics. They focused on not merely spatial zoning and layout divided into four zones - preservation, partial preservation, conservation and use -, but close-to-nature channel revetment techniques, natural water-purification facilities, biotope diversification, and water-friendly recreation and circulation. Strategies pursued both renewal of stream naturalness and hydraulic stability of streamflow by minimizing transformation of natural channel micro-topography and biotope, and by reflecting natural traces of streambed structures such as revetment scour and sedimentation.

남성 패션 스타일의 변화와 특징에 따른 디자인 제안 (Development of Men's Wear Design according to the Change and Features of Men's Fashion Styles)

  • This study is to find out the changes and features of male consumers' life style and purchase tendency according to the change of Korean fashion market, and based on which to suggest the design for the 20s men as well as a proper distribution channel for it. Documentary research and investigation were done together for the study. By reviewing documents focused on previous studies and declaring the change of men's fashion shopping tendencies and the following changes and features of their fashion sense and styles a conceptional frame for a design suggestion was presented. Ways to investigate were men's wear collection research, Q-technique. First of all, they tend to boldly reduce unnecessary purchases and do not hesitate to focus on the wanted item, expanding the trend of 'value purchase.' Secondly, men's wear use various design elements with feminine images, while the materials, colors and design expressive techniques that have been exclusively used for women's wear, began to be applied to men's one, turning them into gentle styles with womanhood is stressed. Thirdly, Korean distribution channel is rapidly diversified from departments to new-concept ones such as multi-brand stores. Especially, displaying and selling various optional products, multi-brand stores lead such diversification of fashion distribution channel. Fourthly, features of the drapery types favored by the 20s men are that they like no-chromed dark or blackish colors with fixed structure and partially-applied drapery on the clothes. Fifthly, it turns out that men in their 20s set a premium on design and price while they buy clothes. In addition to that, they buy clothes mainly during discount period and displayed much bigger satisfaction for the purchase on discounted price that those on normal price.

  • CRM(Customer Relationship Management)은 비즈니스 환경에서 기업의 이익과 경쟁적 우위를 차지할 수 있도록 하는 비즈니스 전략이다. 기업의 고객 응대 기법으로는 인터넷, E-mail, SMS(Short Message Service), 텔레포니 서비스, DM(Direct Mail)이 이용되고 있다. 최근 수익성 모델 향상을 위한 노력으로 기존 고객의 이탈 방지 및 유지, 신규 고객의 가입 및 유지를 통한 비즈니스 모델을 다각화하고 있다. 또한 고객의 최초 접점이 될 수 있는 CRM 센터의 업무 프로세스 재설계(Business Process Re-engineering), 업무 프로세스 관리(Business Process Management)가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 고객응대 CRM 모델 구축시의 고려 사항을 제시하고 콜 객체 라우팅(Call Object Routing)을 위한 에이젼트(Agent)를 제안하고 구현 및 성능평가를 하였다. 제안한 모델은 대 고객 응대 CRM 모델로 효율적으로 이용될 수 있다.
