ACPR Analysis of Millimeterwave OFDM System with Power Amplifier's Phase Distortion (전력증폭기 위상왜곡에 의한 밀리미터파 OFDM 시스템의 ACPR 해석)

  • Millimeterwave OFDM wireless LAN system has been modeled for ACPR analysis. With simple AM-to-PM modeling for power amplifier and system simulation technique, power amplifier ACPR is simulated for OFDM modulation, Also, amplifier back-off value satisfying the required ACPR and the ACPR degradation have been predicted with the measured and modeled AM-tn-PM distortion.

  • We evaluate the BER performance of OFDMA system for Wibro services in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel, considering the carrier frequency offset and the nonlinear high power amplifier. In the uplink OFDMA, nonlinear amplifier and frequency offset introduce larger BER degradation than in the downlink. We explain the reason and obtain the required output back-off of the nonlinear amplifier and value of frequency offset for good BER performance.

  • Power amplifier linearity plays a major role in the design of RF communication systems. In this paper, predistortion type linearizer was designed an independently controllable AM/AM and AM/PM predistortion linearizers. This linearizer allows independent adjustment of the AM/AM and AM/PM curves by using two adjustable voltages to compensate the power amplifier non-linearities. The predistortion linearizer was improved the ACPR by 6dB with cdma2000 multi carrier signals. Applying this linearizer to two-tone 880MHz power amplifier, an improvement of adjacent channel leakage power up to 5dBm has been achieved.

  • The impedance of an underwater acoustic transducers constituting a multi-channel array structure could be changed in real time by various transmission modes. A power amplifier for driving the transducers usually use a voltage control method, so the transducer and power amplifier may be damaged by over-power due to changeable load conditions. Therefore, the drive controller of the power amplifier should have the function of limiting the power. This paper propose the new voltage control method for limiting the driving power of transducers with variable impedance characteristics.

  • Amplifier linearity plays a major role in the design of mordern communication systems. An independently controllable AM/AM and AM/PM predistortion linearizers that consists of two bias feed resistance linearizers is proposed. This linearizer allows independent adjustment of the AM/AM and AM/PM curves by using two adjustable voltages to compensate the power amplifier non-linearities. The predistortion linearizer can improve the ACPR by SdB with cdma2000 multi carrier signals. By applying this linearizer to two-tone 880MHz power amplifier, an improvement of adjacent channel leakage power up to 5dBm has been achieved.

  • RF power amplifier requires linearization in order to reduce adjacent channel interference. And most of the existing linearization algorithms assume that a PA has memory-less nonlinearity. But for the wider bandwidth signal, the memory effect of PA cannot be ignored. This paper investigates digital pre-distortion by use of a memory polynomial model which compensates for amplifier nonlinearity and memory effect. The look-up table based implementation scheme is used to reduce the computational complexity of the pre-distortion block. The linearization performance is demonstrated on wideband CDMA signal and class AB high power amplifier.

  • This paper presents the design method and electrical characteristics of a high-efficiency power amplifier for a 50 Watts class repeater applied to a 5G system and used in in-building, subway, and tunnel. GaN was used for the termination transistor of the power amplifier designed here, and intermodulation signals were removed using DPD to satisfy linearity. In addition, in order to handle various requirements such as amplifier gain control and alarm processing required in the 5G system, the microprocessor is designed to exist inside the power amplifier. The amplifier manufactured to confirm the electrical performance of the power amplifier satisfying these conditions satisfied 46.5 dBm and the overall efficiency of the amplifier was 37%, and it was confirmed that it satisfied various alarm conditions and electrical characteristics required by telecommunication companies.

  • This paper is a study on the high power amplifier to fulfill standards of the MOPS. VDR's frequency band is 117.975~137MHz, and CSMA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access), D8PSK(Differential Eight Phase Shift Keyed), 25KHz's channel bandwidth use. It also stated in DO-281A MOPS output power, symbol constellation error, spurious emissions, adjacent channel power must be met. We designed and measured the performance. The 38dB of the IM3 satisfies the MOPS standard.

  • This paper represents an analog predistortion linearizer for the high power amplifier with low memory effect. The high power amplifier is implemented using a 90-W peak envelope power(PEP) LDMOSFET at 2.14-GHz and an envelope short matching topology is applied at the active ports to minimize the memory effect. The analog predistortion circuit comprises the fundamental path and the cuber and quintic generating circuits, whose amplitudes and phases can be controlled independently. The predistortion circuit is tested for two-tone and wide-band code division multiple access(WCDMA) 4FA signals. For the WCDMA signal, the adjacent channel leakage ratios(ACLRs) at 5 MHz offset are improved by 12.4 dB at average output powers of 36 dBm and 42 dBm.

  • In order to predict the effect of power amplifier non-linearity for digital modulated signal, this paper analyses the adjacent channel power ratio(ACPR) with the various AM-to-PM distortion levels. As the phase distortion increases from 0$^{\circ}$ to 12$^{\circ}$ at 1㏈compression point by 2.4$^{\circ}$ step, the input power level which satisfies the required ACPR decreases from 3.5㏈ to 6.5㏈ less than the 1㏈ compression input power.
