  • This study aims to research the Kisho Kurokawa's architectural concepts and expressions that are comprised of various and complex theories system for Korean's globalization of architecture. Kurokawa's architectural concepts are composed by Metabolism, Metamorphosis and Symbiosis. And intermediate zone, ambiguity, multivalence are theories that work as media in changing process levels to three main concepts and these are used as media of Metamorphosis which embody Symbiosis. Metabolism include concepts of Metamorphosis and Symbiosis. Symbiosis is comprise of concepts of Metabolism and Metamorphosis, and is a ultimate goal of these three main concepts. Metamorphosis works as a medium in changing process levels from Metabolism to Symbiosis. The architectural expressions are embodied according to these main three concepts and theories of media in changing process levels. And these architectural expressions are analyzed by three elements as follows: form, material & color, structure & technique.

  • For the two decades, the modern furniture design has pursued a variety of conceptions characterized by the Post-modernism, new international styles called Memphism, High-tech, the Post-Industrial design and Deconstruction. Along with these trends, the development of new materials and technology has not only made possible the emergence of innovative furnitures and other ultra-modern products, but also presented a wide range of sensitive designs. The fast development of digital technology will surely bring about globalization in all industrial fields in the next century. Amid this rapid changes, high-tech will merge with handcraft in the area of furniture design to offer economical and more innovative concepts. This will ultimately lead to the small scale production system of a wide variety of furnitures. In the coming century, we can pursue more individualized designs and concepts appealing to human nature.

  • In this paper we try to research in the influences which the concepts of infinity have made to our life, and how they have led the trend of the times through studying on the process of changes of concepts of infinity. Also we intend to make a research in how the shift of paradigm on the view of life have been changing under the circumstances in which the concepts of infinity have been accepted as an actual meaning.

  • Conception in learner's cognitive structure has a niche as species in ecosystems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of niche overlap of photosynthesis concept through instruction. The photosynthesis concepts were selected from literature review. Selected concepts were in 4 areas: Location of photosynthesis, reactants, products, and environmental factors. The subjects consisted 304 elementary students. The respondent marked the relevance between the presented concepts and each area on a scale of 1~30 points. The analysis of niche overlap in concepts was performed by changing in niche overlap graph, niche space size, and overlap index before and after instruction. The results are as follows. First, on the whole understanding level and relevance of the scientific concepts was increased through instruction as a result of learning. Second, elementary school students cognitive concepts in the form of chunking concepts through classification process. Based on the results, this study has the following suggestion. Students' conceptual ecologies and niche analyzed by this study will be used as material for development of instruction strategy.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an integrated music activity model based on musical concepts for 2-year-old children in order to include music in whole personality education in a rapidly changing society with increasing need for toddler care. Research methods were review of literature and survey. Subjects were 185 teachers in B city. They were asked to record their thoughts and needs during the process of musical activities with toddlers. Research concluded that an integrated music activity model for toddlers requires statement of purpose, contents based on musical concepts, and appropriate teaching methods which can be extended to arts education in general. Discussion further suggested diverse expression through singing, listening, body movement and combining with other arts.

  • In order to clarify and redefine theoretical concepts of consumptions in modern society, the study examines currently enlarging and changing concepts of consumptions. Definitely, the modern society is transferred from industrial society to consumer society, and the meaning of recent consumptions is changed and expanded. In other words, it is important to investigate new cultures and concepts of modern consumptions beyond the fixed perceptions of past consumptions. Today, consumptions in modem society are more than just consumptions. It is not only Physical needs but also Psychological needs of individuals who live in modern society. Hence, this study analyzes and redefines the concepts in modem society's consumptions with respect to set of variables: personal, social, commercial, cultural, and ecological.

  • This paper focuses on the concepts of a value of ratio and a rate in elementary school mathematics. Although the concept of a value of ratio can be distinguished meaningfully from that of a rate by phenomenological analyses, this distinction is impossible at the elementary school level. Two concepts tend to be treated as identical, therefore they need to be classified by the other methods. By analyzing the series of mathematics textbooks from the first curriculum to the present 7th curriculum, this paper investigated how two concepts have been transposed into the products of school mathematics. In addition, we discussed how the difference of two concepts in the changing process of definitions have been presented clearly to the students. As a result, this paper concluded that the difference of two concepts has not been developed clearly for elementary students in general, except the textbook by the 7th curriculum. The definitions of two concepts were described obscurely so that the students may confuse the concept of a value of ratio with that of a rate. The role of a value of ratio needs to be reconsidered when it is applied to set proportional expressions. Therefore, this paper suggests not adhering to the terminology ‘value of ratio’ to present the ratio as a quotient or the rate as a fractional representation in school mathematics.

  • This study aimed to analysis of concepts and inquiry activities related to the 'Earth Science' area in the South Korean elementary school textbooks to the current and to seek the improvement of future textbook. For the study, we were collected South Korean elementary school textbooks to the current. After the collection had been made, we were analyzed related to the 'Earth' area in the South Korean elementary school textbooks and were extracted central concepts and inquiry activities. The result of this study: First, there were 'A change in the land', 'Strata and Fossil', 'Volcanoes and Earthquakes', 'Earth and Moon', 'The weather', 'The Solar system and the Star', and 'Seasonal Change' in the central concepts related to the 'Earth' area in the South Korean elementary school textbooks to the current. Second, central concepts were almost the same but the curriculum was changed. Third, inquiry activities also were confirmed to be maintained with little change. This result was believed that it can provide a variety of suggestions at this point in changing the curriculum.
