  • The purpose of the study was to correlate margin design(chamfer, shoulder, shoulder with a $45^{\circ}$ bevel. with the seating and sealing of cemented full cast crowns under standardized simulated clinical conditions. Wax patterns were made with milled stainless-steel dies and rings, and were invested, burnt out, and cast. The full cast crowns were comented on individual resin dies, and a gradually diminishing load(45kg to 25kg. was applied over a 10-minute period. The specimens were sectioned centrally with a low speed diamond saw and examined with light microscope. The results were as follows : 1. Chamfer preparations demonstrated it was the best marginal seal, followed in order by the shoulder with a $45^{\circ}$ bevel, and by the shoulder(p<.05). 2. Chamfer preparations demonstrated it was the best occlusal seating, followed in order by the shoulder, and by the shoulder with a $45^{\circ}$ bevel(p<.05).

  • It is very important to minimize the die roll height of gear, in order to maximize the shear cutting surface(tooth surface) of fine blanking. In this paper, the fine blanking tool sets were manufactured in order to study the die roll height according to V-ring position and die chamfer shape. They were constituted of the various die inserts and guide plate inserts with different die chamfer shape and different V-ring distance. The fine blanking experiment was conducted with the fine blanking tool sets and the die roll height of the gear samples was measured. It should be noted that die roll height on the fine blanked gear increased with increasing the V-ring distance and die chamfer angle.

  • In this research, to study tungsten carbide alloy(Co 0.5%) ultra precision turning possibility that is used Glass Molding Press(GMP) using conventional (Rake angle $-25^{\circ}$) single crystal diamond bite observed machining surface condition, surface roughness($R_a$), diamond bite cutting edge after tungsten carbide alloy ultra precision turning. Suggested and designed optimum chamfer bite shape to suggest ultra precision optimum bite using Finite Element Analysis(FEM). After machining tungsten carbide alloy ultra precision turning using optimum chamfer bite and comparing with conventional bite machine result and studied optimum chamfer bite design inspection and also tungsten carbide ultra precision turning possibility for high temperature compression glass lens molding.

  • Micro-screws can be defined by their outer diameter of generally less than 1 mm. They are manufactured by head forging and thread rolling processes. In this study, the thread rolling process was numerically analyzed for a micro-screw with a diameter and pitch of 0.8 and 0.2 mm, respectively. Through finite element (FE) analysis, the effects of two design parameters (die gap and chamfer height) on the dimensional accuracy were investigated. Three combinations of chamfer heights were chosen first and the corresponding die gap candidates selected by geometric calculation. FE analyses were performed for each combination and their results indicated that the concave chamfer height should be less than 0.3 mm, while a 10 ?m difference in the die gap might cause degeneration in dimensional accuracy. These results conclude that ultra-high accuracy is required in die fabrication and assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy in micro-screw manufacturing.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to classify the types of vehicle as full, medium, or small size. The proposed method is composed of three steps. First, after obtaining vehicle contour from template candidate image, edge distance template is created by distance transform of the vehicle's contour. Second, the vehicle type of input image is classified as the type of template which has minimal edge distance with input image. The edge distance value means the measurement of distance between input image and template at each pixel which is part of vehicle contour. Experimental results demonstrate that our method presented a good performance of 80% about test images.

  • In this study, using brain phantom for multi-modality imaging, we acquired CT, MR and PET images and performed registration of these anatomical images and nuclear medicine functional images. The algorithms and program applied for registration were Chamfer Matching and Mutual Information Maximization algorithm which have been using frequently in clinic and verified accuracy respectively. In result, both algorithms were useful methods for CT-MR, CT-PET and MR-PET. But Mutual Information Maximization was more effective algorithm for low resolution image as nuclear medicine functional image.

  • Poor marginal fidelity resulting in a large marginal gap increases plaque accumulation, gingival inflammation and dental caries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal fit of three different cervical finishing methods of prepared teeth. A stereomicroscope was used to measure the space between the margin of restoration and the finishing line of prepared tooth. The results were statistically analyzed using the ANOVA and Multiple Range Test(Tukey's HSD). The results were as follows : 1. There were no significant differences concerning the types of tooth and positon (P>0.05), whereas the differences were statistically significant in case of cervical finishing methods (P<0.05). 2. There were statistically significant differences between before and after cementation (P<0.05). 3. In comparison according to variable margins after cementation, the gap discrepancies were increased in $130^{\circ}$ shoulder margin, chamfer margin and $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin in ascending order, and there were significant differences between $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin and chamfer, $130^{\circ}$ shoulder margin 4. In comparison according to variable margins, the gap discrepancies were increased in chamfer margin, $130^{\circ}$ shoulder margin and $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin in ascending order, and there were significant differences between $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin and chamfer, $130^{\circ}$ shoulder margin. 5. This study demonstrated a better marginal fit with all-ceramic crowns fabricated on chamfer and $130^{\circ}$ shoulder margin compared with $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin.

  • In this paper, a 2-dimensional accurate edge-based matching algorithm using subpixel edges is proposed that combines the Generalized Hough Transform(GHT) and the Chamfer matching to complement the weakness of either method. First, the GHT is used to find the approximate object positions and orientations, and then these positions and orientations are used as starting parameter values to find more accurate position and orientation using the Chamfer matching with distance interpolation. Finally, matching accuracy is further refined by using a subpixel algorithm. Testing results demonstrate that greater matching accuracy is achieved using subpixel edges rather than edge pixels.

  • Productivty of tapping has been increasing through the tcchnological advances in synchronization between spindle rotation and feed motion even in the high spindle speed. However, not much researches have been conducted about tapping process because its complicate cutting mechanism. In order ta investigate the characteristics of the tapping process, this paper concentrates on the analysis of curting torque behavior during one cycle of lapping. As one completc thread is performed through the whole chamfer ercuttlng, cutting torque increases highly in chamfer cutting, but smaothly in full thread cutting Functioning of the threads guide. Cutting torque in backward cutting is smaller than in Sorwerd cutting due to only friction farce in against between the tool and workpiece. And torque behavior of a periodic Sine ripple-mark was identified during one revolution of a tap.
