팔라듐 합금 수소분리막의 내구성 향상 (Improvement in Long-term Stability of Pd Alloy Hydrogen Separation Membranes)

  • Pd alloy hydrogen membranes for hydrogen purification and separation need thermal stability at high temperature for commercial applications. Intermetallic diffusion between the Pd alloy film and the porous metal support gives rise to serious problems in long-term stability of Pd alloy membranes. Ceramic barriers are widely used to prevent the intermetallic diffusion from the porous metal support. However, these layers result in poor adhesion at the interface between film and barrier because of the fundamentally poor chemical affinity and a large thermal stress. In this study, we developed Pd alloy membranes having a dense microstructure and saturated composition on modified metal supports by advanced DC magnetron sputtering and heat treatment for enhanced thermal stability. Experimental results showed that Pd-Cu and Pd-Ag alloy membranes had considerably enhanced long-term stability owing to stable, dense alloy film microstructure and saturated composition, effective diffusion barrier, and good adhesive interface layer.

서스펜션 진공 플라즈마 용사법을 통한 YSZ 코팅의 형성 (Formation of YSZ Coatings Deposited by Suspension Vacuum Plasma Spraying)

  • As increasing thermal efficiency of the gas turbine, the performance improvement of thermal barrier coatings is also becoming important. Ytrria stabilized zirconia(YSZ) is the most popular materials for ceramic top coating because of its low thermal conductivity. In order to enhance the performance of thermal barrier coatings for hot sections in the gas turbine, suspension plasma spraying was developed in order to feed nano-sized powders. YSZ coatings formed by suspension plasma spraying showed better performance than YSZ coatings due to its exclusive microstructure. In this research, two YSZ coatings were deposited by suspension vacuum plasma spraying at 400 mbar and 250 mbar. Microstructures of YSZ coatings were analyzed by scanning electron image(SEM) on each spraying conditions, respectively. Crystalline structure transformation was not detected by X-ray diffraction. Thermal conductivity of suspension vacuum plasma sprayed YSZ coatings were measured by laser flash analysis. Thermal conductivity of suspension vacuum plasma sprayed YSZ coatings containing horizontally oriented nano-sized pores and vertical cracks showed $0.6-1.0W/m{\cdot}K$, similar to thermal conductivity of YSZ coatings formed by atmospheric plasma spraying.

Al2O3-SiC 복합재료의 미세조직 및 기계적 물성에 미치는 SiC 원료분말의 크기 영향 (Effect of SiC Particle Size on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties Of Al2O3-SiC Composite)

  • 서로 다른 크기의 SiC 원료분말을 첨가한 A1$_2$O$_3$-SiC 복합재료의 미세조직과 그에 따른 기계적 물성의 변화를 관찰하였다. 0.15 $mu extrm{m}$의 SiC가 첨가된 복합재료의 경우 기지상의 입성장이 효과적으로 억제되었다 그러나, 소수의 비정상입자가 생성된 이후에는 이들 입자의 급격한 성장으로 불규칙한 형상의 커다란 입자로 구성된 미세조직을 보이며, 파괴강도값은 급격히 감소하였다. 3 $\mu\textrm{m}$의 SiC가 첨가된 경우에는 기지상의 입성장이 일어났으나, 소수의 비정상입자가 생성된 이후에는 과도한 입성장은 억제되고 일정한 크기의 비정상입자가 시편 전체에 균일하게 형성된 미세조직을 보였다. 한편, 0.15 $\mu\textrm{m}$와 3 $\mu\textrm{m}$의 SiC 입자를 동시에 첨가한 시편은 균일한 크기의 비정상입성장의 미세조직을 보였으나, 비정상입성장이 일어났음에도 불구하고 기계적 물성은 우수하게 유지되었다 즉, 비정상입성장에 의해 미세조직에는 큰 변화가 일어났으나, 파괴강도값에는 변화가 없었다.

  • 유전율이 높고 온도안정성이우수하다고 알려져 있는 Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3-Pb(Mg1/2W1/2)O3 계 세라믹스를 산화물혼합법 및 precursor방법으로 제조함에 있어 과잉 MgO의 첨가에 따른 미세구조와 유전특성의 변화에 대하여 조사하였다. MgO를 5mol%이상 과잉첨가하여 100$0^{\circ}C$에 소결한 시편의 유전율은 5000이상이고, -55$^{\circ}C$에서 1$25^{\circ}C$범위에서 변화율은 +25%에서 -5$0^{\circ}C$ 정도를 나타냈다. XRD 분석결과 perovskite상과 Pb2WO5 결정이 주된상이었으며, 소결온도 및 MgO 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 cubic pyrochlore상인 Pb3Nb4O13와 PbWO4는 감소하였다. SEM에 의한 미세구조의 관찰에서 MgO첨가량이 증가함에 따라 결정성장이 촉진되는 것을 알 수 있었으며 이것이 소결온도 증가에 따른 pyrochlore상의 감소와 함께 유전율을 증가시키는 원인이었다. BSE관찰에서 화학성분 분포의 불균일성이 나타났으며, 각각의 소결온도에서 생성되는 결정상과 함께 유전율의 온도의존성을 완만하게 만드는 원인임을 알 수 있었다.

B2O3와 CuO가 첨가된 Ba(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 세라믹스의 저온소결과 마이크로파 유전특성 연구 (Low-temperature Sintering and Microwave Dielectric Properties of the B2O3 and CuO-added Ba(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 Ceramics)

  • B$_2$O$_3$ added Ba(Mg$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$ (BBMN) ceramics were not sintered below 900 $^{\circ}C$. However, when CuO was added to the BBMN ceramic, it was sintered even at 850 $^{\circ}C$. The amount of the $Ba_2$B$_2$O$_{5}$ second phase decreased with the addition of CuO. Therefore, the CuO additive is considered to react with the B$_2$O$_3$ inhibiting the reaction between B$_2$O$_3$ and BaO. Moreover, it is suggested that the solid solution of CuO and B$_2$O$_3$ might be responsible for the decrease of the sintering temperature of the specimens. A dense microstructure without pores was developed with the addition of a small amount of CuO. However, a porous microstructure with large pores was formed when a large amount of CuO was added. The bulk density, the dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$) and the Q-value increased with the addition of CuO but they decreased when a large amount of CuO was added. The variations of those properties are closely related to the variation of the microstructure. The excellent microwave dielectric properties of Qxf = 21500 GHz, $\varepsilon$$_{r}$ = 31 and temperature coefficient of resonance frequency($\tau$$_{f}$) = 21.3 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained for the Ba(Mg$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$+2.0 mol%B$_2$O$_3$+10.0 mol%CuO ceramic sintered at 875 $^{\circ}C$ for 2 h.h.2 h.h.

AIN 세라믹스의 미세조직과 기계적 성질에 미치는 h-BN 첨가의 영향 (Effect of h-BN Content on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AIN Ceramics)

  • AIN-BN계 머시너블 세라믹의 미세조직, 기계적 성질 및 기계 가공성에 미치는 h-BN 첨가의 영향을 조사하였다. 소결체의 상대밀도는 h-BN 첨가량의 증가와 더불어 감소하였다. 또한, 4점 굽힘 강도도 AIN 단미의 238 MPa에서 30 vo1% BN 첨가에 의해 182 MPa까지 감소하였다. 낮은 탄성계수와 AIN 매트릭스와 h-BN 입자와의 열팽창계수의 차이에 의해 발생한 잔류인장응력에 의해 AIN-BN 복합재료의 강도가 감소되었다고 생각된다. 판상형태의 h-BN 입자에 의해 균열편향과 pull-out은 증가하였으나, 파괴인성은 BN 첨가량과 더불어 감소하였다. AIN 분말표면에 존재하는 알루미나와 소결조제인 $Y_2$O$_3$와의 반응에 의해 2차상인 YAG상과 ${\gamma}$-Al$_2$O$_3$상이 생성되었다. AIN에 10~30 vo1%의 BN을 첨가한 복합재료에 대하여 수행한 절삭시험에서 절삭력과 배분력은 h-BN 첨가량에 따라 감소하였으며, 우수한 기계 가공성을 입증하였다. 또한, 모든 시편에서 짧은 시간 내에 0.5 $\mu$m (Ra) 이하의 비교적 양호한 표면 거칠기에 도달할 수 있었다.

TEOS-PEG계 Sol-Gel코팅에 의한 세라믹 분리 막의 제조 및 특성 (Characterization of Ceramic Composite-Membranes Prepared by TEOS-PEG Coating Sol)

  • Sol-gel 공정에 의해 제조된 세라믹 분리 막은 보다 순수한 재료를 이용할 수 있고, 균일성을 향상시킬 수 있을 뿐 아니라 다양한 복합체도 넓은 범위에서 반응을 유도할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있어 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 sc,1-gel 공정을 이용하여 Tetraethyl ortho-silicate(TEOS)-Polyethylene glycol(PEG)계 organically modified silicate(ORMOSt)sol을 합성하였다. Polymer분자량을 변수로 하여 sol 합성 후 특성 변화를 점도와 겔화 시간을 측정함으로써 관찰하였다. 합성된 sol을 다공성 담체 위에 dip-coating법을 이용하여 막을 제조하였으며, SEM관찰을 통해 분리 막의 미세구조를 확인하였다. 합성 복합 막의 Oil/water 에멀젼의 처리효율을 cross-flow 타입의 막 분리 장치를 이용하여 확인하였다. Ormosilsol은 유기물의 분자량이 증가될수록 보다 쉽게 코팅 층을 형성 시킬 수 있었고, 담체를 용매에 담지 시켜 코팅 물질이 담체의 기공내로 침투될 때의 모세관력을 줄임으로써 크랙이 방지된 얇은 막을 얻을 수 있었다. Colloidal sol 코팅 막에 비해 ormosil sol코팅 막은 분리효율 뿐 아니라 flux 특설이 시험 5분경과 시점에서 약 $200\;l/m^2h$이상 향상되었음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

상압소결(常壓燒結)한 $SiC-ZrB_2$ 전도성(電導性) 복합체(複合體)의 미세구조(微細構造)와 특성(特性)에 미치는 Annealing 온도(溫度)의 영향(影響) (Effect of Annealing Temperature on Microstructure and Properties of the Pressureless-Sintered $SiC-ZrB_2$ Electroconductive Ceramic Composites)

  • The effect of pressureless-sintered temperature on the densification behavior, mechanical and electrical properties of the $SiC-ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites was investigated. The $SiC-ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites were pressureless-sintered for 2 hours at temperatures in the range of $1,750{\sim}1,900[^{\circ}C]$, with an addition of 12[wt%] of $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$(6:4 mixture of $Al_2O_3\;and\;Y_2O_3$) as a sintering aid. The relative density and mechanical properties are increased markedly at temperatures in the range of $1,850{\sim}1,900[{^\circ}C]$. The relative density, flexural strength, vicker's hardness and fracture toughness showed the highest value of 81.1[%], 230[MPa], 9.88[GPa] and $6.05[MPa\;m^{1/2}]$ for $SiC-ZrB_2$ composites of $1,900[{^\circ}C]$ sintering temperature at room temperature respectively. The electrical resistivity was measured by the Pauw method in the temperature ranges from $25[{^\circ}C]\;to\;700[{^\circ}C]$, The electrical resistivity showed the value of $1.36{\times}10^{-4},\;3.83{\times}10^{-4},\;3.51{\times}10^{-4}\;and\; 3.2{\times}10^{-4}[{\Omega}{\cdot}cm]$ for SZ1750, SZ1800, SZ1850 and SZ1900 respectively at room temperature. The electrical resistivity of the composites was all PTCR(Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistivity). The resistance temperature coefficient showed the value of $4.194{\times}10^{-3},\;3,740{\times}10^{-3},\;2,993{\times}10^{-3},\;3,472{\times}10^{-3}/[^{\circ}C}$ for SZ1750, SZ1800, SZ1850 and SZ1900 respectively in the temperature ranges from $25[{\circ}C]\;to\;700[{\circ}C]$, It is assumed that because polycrystallines such as recrystallized $SiC-ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites, contain of porosity and In Situ $YAG(Al_5Y_3O_{12})$ crystal grain boundaries, their electrical conduction mechanism are complicated. In addition, because the condition of such grain boundaries due to $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ additives widely varies with sintering temperature, electrical resistivity of the $SiC-ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites with sintering temperature also varies with sintering condition. It is convinced that ${\beta}-SiC$ based electroconductive ceramic composites for heaters or ignitors can be manufactured by pressureless sintering.

  • The effect of pressureless-sintered temperature on the densification behavior, mechanical and electrical properties of the $SiC-TiB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites was investigated. The $SiC-TiB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites were pressureless-sintered for 2 hours at temperatures in the range of $1,750{\sim}1,900[^{\circ}C]$, with an addition of 12[wt%] $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3(6:4\;mixture\;of\;Al_2O_3\;and\;Y_2O_3)$ as a sintering aid. The relative density, flexural strength, vicker's hardness and fracture toughness showed the highest value of 84.92[%], 140[MPa], 4.07[GPa] and $3.13[MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}]$ for $SiC-TiB_2$ composites of $1,900[^{\circ}C]$ sintering temperature at room temperature respectively. The electrical resistivity was measured by the Pauw method in the temperature ranges from $25[^{\circ}C]\;to\;700[^{\circ}C]$. The electrical resistivity showed the value of $5.51{\times}10^{-4},\;2.11{\times}10^{-3},\;7.91{\times}10^{-4}\;and\;6.91{\times}10^{-4}[\Omega{\cdot}cm]$ for ST1750, ST1800, ST1850 and ST1900 respectively at room temperature. The electrical resistivity of the composites was all PTCR(Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistivity). The resistance temperature coefficient showed the value of $3.116{\times}10^{-3},\;2.717{\times}10^{-3},\;2.939{\times}10^{-3},\;3.342{\times}10^{-3}/[^{\circ}C]$ for ST1750, ST1800, ST1850 and ST1900 respectively in the temperature ranges from $25[^{\circ}C]\;to\;700[^{\circ}C]$. It is assumed that because polycrystallines, such as recrystallized $SiC-TiB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites, contain of porosity and In Situ $YAG(Al_5Y_3O_{12})$ crystal grain boundaries, their electrical conduction mechanism are complicated. In addition, because the condition of such grain boundaries due to $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ additives widely varies with sintering temperature, electrical resistivity of the $SiC-TiB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites with sintering temperature also varies with sintering condition. It is convinced that ${\beta}-SiC$ based electroconductive ceramic composites for heaters or ignitors can be manufactured by pressureless sintering.
