SiAlON의 절삭성능에 미치는 소결조제와 조성의 영향에 대한 연구 (Effect of Sintering Additive and Composition on Cutting Performance of SiAlON)

  • SiAlON ceramics are used as ceramic cutting tools for heat-resistant super alloys (HRSAs) due to their excellent fracture toughness and thermal properties. They are manufactured from nitride and oxide raw materials. Mixtures of nitrides and oxides are densified via liquid phase sintering by using gas pressure sintering. Rare earth oxides, when used as sintering additives, affect the color and mechanical properties of SiAlON. Moreover, these sintering additives influence the cutting performance. In this study, we have prepared $Yb_{m/3}Si_{12-(m+n)}Al_{m+n}O_nN_{16-n}$ (m = 0.5; n = 0.5, 1.0) ceramics and manufactured SiAlON ceramics, which resulted in different colors. In addition, the characteristics of the sintered SiAlON ceramics such as fracture toughness and microstructure have been investigated and results of the cutting test have been analyzed.

전기방사법에 의한 NiZn 페라이트 나노섬유의 제조 및 특성 연구 (Preparation and Characterization of NiZn-Ferrite Nanofibers Fabricated by Electrospinning Process)

  • Electrospinning process is the useful and unique method to produce nanofibers from metal precursor and polymer solution by controlled viscosity. In this study, the NiZn ferrite nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning with a aqueous metal salts/polymer solution that contained polyvinyl pyrrolidone and Fe (III) chloride, Ni (II) acetate tetrahydrate and zinc acetate dihydrate in N,N-dimethylformamide. The applied electric field and spurting rate for spinning conditions were 10 kV, 2 ml/h, respectively. The obtained fibers were treated at $250^{\circ}C$ for 1 h to remove the polymer. Finally, the NiZn ferrite fibers were calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ for 3 h and annealed at $900{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ in air. By tuning the viscosity of batch solution before electrospinning, we were able to control the microstructure of NiZn ferrite fiber in the range of $150{\sim}500\;nm$ at 770 cP. The primary particle size in $600^{\circ}C$ calcined ferrite fiber was about 10 nm. The properties of those NiZn ferrite fibers were determined from X-ray diffraction analysis, electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and magnetic measurement.

Microwave Dielectric Properties of CaTi0.5Fe0.25Nb0.25O3 Ceramics with CuO Addition

  • The sintering behavior, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of Ca $Ti_{0.5}$F $e_{0.25}$N $b_{0.25}$ $O_3$ with CuO have been investigated. Among the range of additions, 3 wt% CuO was observed to perform most satisfactory for acting as a sintering aid. The dielectric properties were found to strongly depend on the sintered densities. The dielectric constant increased with sintering temperatures, while the Q${\times}$ $f_{0}$ value affected by second phase. For Ca $Ti_{0.5}$F $e_{0.25}$N $b_{0.25}$ $O_3$ with 3 wt% CuO sintered at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, the dielectric properties with an $\varepsilon$$_{r}$ value of 56, a Q${\times}$ $f_{0}$ value of 3,500 GHz and a $\tau$$_{f}$ value of 10 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained and suggested for practical applications.cations.ons.ons.ons.

  • 본 연구에서는 세라믹 기계요소를 생산하기 위한 기초연구로서, 세라믹 사출 성형에 대한 기본적인 가공조건과 여러변수들을 고찰하고 가능한한 최대의 세라믹체적 비를 갖고 세라믹입자와 완벽한 융합을 이룰수 있는 최적의 결합제 구성과 세라믹입자 의 충진비율에 따른 혼합체(mixture)의 유동특성을 규명하여 사출성형의 적부를 판별 함과 동시에 그 훈련된 상태를 고찰하여 이후의 공정에서 불균일에 의한 결함이 발생 하지 않도록 정확한 성형조건을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 사출성형에 가장 적절한 혼 합체를 선정하여 탈지공정 및 소결을 행하고 각 공정에서의 부품의 수축률 및 결함을 관찰하여 그 결함의 원인 및 제거방법에 대하여 논의할 것이다. 본 논문에서 제시한 각 공정 및 고찰은 중요한 모든 변수들의 경향 및 특성을 다루었으며 정밀한 세라믹부 품의 신속한 생산을 위한 기초 연구로서 실제 산업체에 응용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된 다.

  • Indium hydroxide 분말이 침전법으로 제조되었다. 반응온도($150{\sim}250^{\circ}C$)와 각 반응온도에서의 유지시간(1~72 h)이 실험 변수로 사용되었다. 각각의 제조된 분말을 X-선 회절 분석기(XRD)와 투과전자현미경(FE-TEM), BET를 통해 입자크기, 미세구조 및 결정상을 관찰하였다. 본 연구에서는 침전법에 의해 제조된 Indium hydroxide가 열처리 시 반응온도와 각 반응온도에서의 유지시간에 따라 어떻게 Indium oxide로 상전이 거동을 하는 지를 고찰하였다.

균일한 Hydroxyapatite Sphere 제조 및 특성분석 (Preparation and Characterization of Homogeneous Hydroxyapatite Sphere)

  • A hydroxyapatite microsphere was prepared using a spray-drying method. The change in the shape as a function of the slurry concentration and the change in the degree of shrinkage according to the heat-treatment temperatures were observed. To obtain biomaterials with improved bio-stability, $CaHPO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$ and $Ca(OH)_2$ were mixed at a ratio of 6 : 4 and then ball-milled to synthesize hydroxyapatite. The hydroxyapatite microsphere was prepared using 30 wt% ~ 80 wt% hydroxyapatite slurry by a spray-drying method. For concentrations lower than 50 wt% or higher than 80 wt%, doughnut-shaped microspheres were produced. However, perfect microspheres were produced when using slurry concentrations of 50 wt% ~ 70 wt%. A dense microstructure was observed after a heat treatment at temperatures higher than $1100^{\circ}C$ and the size was reduced by 24.3% at these temperatures.

  • Effects of pH value and deposition time on the electrical properties of (NMC) Ni-Mn-Cu-O and (NMCC) Ni-Mn-Cu-Co-O thin films were investigated. The NMC and NMCC films were prepared by spin spray method. The crystal structure and thickness of the annealed films were changed by the pH value and deposition time, respectively. A single phase of cubic spinel structure was confirmed for the annealed films deposited from solutions with pH 7.6. The resistivity of the annealed films was affected by the crystal structure and microstructure. The TCR (temperature coefficient of resistance) was dependent on the $Mn^{3+}/Mn^{4+}$. Typically, the resistivity of $70.5{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and TCR of -3.56%/K at room temperature were obtained for NMCC films deposited from solutions with pH 7.6 for 5 min, and annealed at $450^{\circ}C$ for 3 h.

압전복합센서용 PZT 세라믹스의 미세구조 및 압전특성에 미치는 $Cr_2O_3$$Nb_2O_5$ 첨가효과 (Effect of $Cr_2O_3$ and $Nb_2O_5$ Additives on the Microstructure and Piezoelectric Properties of PZT Ceramics for Piezoelectric Composite Sensor)

  • 본 연구에서는$Cr_2O_3$$Nb_2O_5$ 를 첨가한 $Pb(Zr_{0.54}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ 세라믹스에서 $Nb_2O_5$ 첨가량에 따른 소결 및 압전, 유전특성을 조사하였다. $Pb(Zr_{0.54}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ + 0.2 wt% $Cr_2O_3$ + wt% $Nb_2O_5$ ($0.{\sim}2wt.%$)의 첨가량에 따른 압전, 유전특성 및 미세구조에 관해 연구하였다. 본조성에서 $Nb_2O_5$ 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 입경의 크기는 증가하였으며, 0.5 wt% $Nb_2O_5$ 첨가조성에서 $4\sim5\mu m$의 최대 평균입경을 보이다가 그 이상의 첨가 조성에서 급격히 감소하였다. 유전상수와 kp 는 $Nb_2O_5$ 첨가량이 1.0 wt% 조성까지 증가하였다가 그 이상 조성에서 감소하였다. $Nb_2O_5$ 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 삼방정(rhombohedral)구조에서 정방정(tetragonal)구조로 상전이 일어났으며, 본 조성의 상경계 영역인 0.5 wt% 조성에서 $\varepsilon_r$ = 730, $k_p$ = 0.72, $d_{33}$ = 450, $g_{33}$ = 70의 우수한 압전 특성을 나타내었다. 이러한 조성은 접촉센서용 복합압전소재의 실용가능성을 제시하였다.

가스압 반응소결로 제조된 SiAlON 세라믹스의 상형성과 물리적 특성 (Phase Formation and Physical Properties of SiAlON Ceramics Fabricated by Gas-Pressure Reactive Sintering)

  • SiAlON-based ceramics are some of the most typical oxynitride ceramic materials, which can be used as cutting tools for heat-resistant super-alloys (HRSA). SiAlON can be fabricated by using gas-pressure reactive sintering from the raw materials, nitrides and oxides such as $Si_3N_4$, AlN, $Al_2O_3$, and $Yb_2O_3$. In this study, we fabricate $Yb_{m/3}Si_{12-(m+n)}Al_{m+n}O_nN_{16-n}$ (m=0.3, n=1.9, 2.3, 2.7) ceramics by using gas-pressure sintering at different sintering temperatures. Then, the densification behavior, phase formation, microstructure, and hardness of the sintered specimens are characterized. We obtain a fully densified specimen with ${\beta}$-SiAlON after gas-pressure sintering at $1820^{\circ}C$ for 90 min. under 10 atm $N_2$ pressure. These SiAlON ceramic materials exhibited hardness values of ~92.9 HRA. The potential of these SiAlON ceramics for cutting tool application is also discussed.

Characteristics of Bulk and Coating in Gd2-xZr2+xO7+0.5x(x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0) System for Thermal Barrier Coatings

  • Gadolinium zirconate, $Gd_2Zr_2O_7$, is one of the most versatile oxides among the new thermal-barrier-coating (TBC) materials for replacing conventional yttira-stabilized zirconia (YSZ). $Gd_2Zr_2O_7$ exhibits excellent properties, such as low thermal conductivity, high thermal expansion coefficient comparable with that of YSZ, and chemical stability at high temperature. In this study, bulk and coating specimens with $Gd_{2-x}Zr_{2+x}O_{7+0.5x}$ (x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0) compositions were fabricated in order to examine the characteristics of this gadolinium zirconate system with different Gd content for TBC applications. Especially, coatings with $Gd_{2-x}Zr_{2+x}O_{7+0.5x}$ (x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0) compositions were produced by suspension plasma spray (SPS) with suspension of raw powder mixtures prepared by planetary milling followed by ball milling. Phase formation, microstructure, and thermal diffusivity were characterized for both sintered and coated specimens. Single phase materials with pyrochlore or fluorite were fabricated by normal sintering as well as SPS coating. In particular, coated specimens showed vertically-separated columnar microstructures with thickness of $400{\sim}600{\mu}m$.
