  • Objectives : Psychasthenia is a psychological disorder that is characterized by phobias, obsessions, compulsions, or excessive anxiety. Their thoughts can be scattered and require significant effort to organize, often resulting in sentences that do not come out as intended, making little sense to others. Methods : Two Patients with psychasthenia are unable to resist specific actions or thoughts, regardless of their maladaptive nature and have insufficient control over their conscious thinking and memory, sometimes wandering aimlessly and/or forgetting what they were doing. Results : The constant mental effort induces physiological fatigue, which worsens the condition. Nevertheless, psychasthenia has become a forgotten disorder. We observed two cases that are worthy of the original definition of psychasthenia. Conclusions : It can be concluded that patients with psychasthenia complain of sinking because of a reduction in psychological tension or an effort to recover the reduction in tension.

  • The southwestern islands of Japan, especially southward from Amamioshima Island, have distinguished sets of nature and culture. However, various problems are arising on those islands. This report first introduces island characteristics as well as, their status briefly. Then it introduces conservation efforts. Since nature and culture are closely connected in the island system, conservation of the set of nature and culture is essentially important. From this point of view, this report focuses on two efforts. The first example is the effort for designation of a new national park with a new concept of "environmental culture type" and "ecosystem management type" in the Amami Gunto Islands. This effort is a new challenge to focus on the importance of cultural aspects. The second example is the unique effort of the national park visitor center to conserve as one set of integrated nature and culture with an alliance of all stakeholders in Taketomijima Island, Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park. The visitor center serves not only visitors, but also islanders. These two cases are good models that suggest hints for future conservation measures.

  • Turbulent flows around yacht sails were calculated to access the applicability of CFD for yacht design. Multi-block grid system was generated by using Gridgen package and Fluent was used to calculate flows around two sail system. A 30ft class sailing yacht designed and tested by KRISO was chosen. The interference effect between main and jib sails was analyzed. Pressure distribution on the sails was obtained and the center of effort was estimated. It was found that the jib angle affects the flow phenomena around a main sail due to the change of inflow angle. The location of center of effort is much different from the empirical formula based on a simple geometrical consideration. The calculated results are compared with the previous numerical and experimental results. Both CFD results are similar, but there are some discrepancies with experimental data. However, it is certain that CFD can be a very useful tool for yacht design.

  • This paper presents a system level architecture evaluation technique that leverages transaction level modeling but also significantly extends it to the realm of system level performance evaluation. A major issue lies with the modeling effort. To reduce the modeling effort the proposed technique develops the concept of worst case scenarios. Since the memory controller is often found to be an important component that critically affects the system performance and thus needs optimization, the paper further addresses how to evaluate and optimize the memory controllers, focusing on the test environment and the methodology. The paper also presents an industrial case study using a real state-of-the-art design. In the case study, it is reported that the proposed technique has helped successfully find the performance bottleneck and provide appropriate feedback on time.

  • In order to understand the difficulties and overcoming effort in teachers of Employer-Supported Child-Care Center in the attitude of parents, this study explored seven teachers of Soie Child-Care Center that operated for 18 hours a day, 365 days a year. Seven teachers were interviewed and the data were analyzed utilizing content analysis. The results of the study came out that Teachers experience difficulties such as parents' non-regulations, excessive use, excessive individual demands, excessive sensitivity in case of safety accidents, the connection of parental rank to the classroom, excessive service demands. In order to overcome this problem, participants used methods such as identifying sensitive parts of parents, seeking advice, objectifying situations, and enhancing professionalism. This will be basic data for the expanding operation of Employer-Supported Child-Care Center and the development of programs to support teachers.

  • Interference alignment (IA) has been a powerful approach to achieve the maximum degree of freedom (DoF) for K users multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) interference channels. However, due to the feasibility constraint, aligning all the interference signals at each receiver is impractical for large K without symbol extension. In this paper, we propose two best-effort interference alignment (BEIA) schemes that the network selects the maximum number of interfering transmitters to align their signals given the feasibility conditions when each transmitter-receiver pair has a constant number of data streams. Besides, in case of not all interfering signals aligned at each receiver, an upper bound of the average throughput is derived. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes have superiority over the traditional methods, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) and cluster IA(CIA), in low and moderate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region in terms of average user throughput. In addition, the proposed max-min relative interference distance alignment scheme outperforms the proposed scheme of equal interfering transmitters number alignment in terms of both average user throughput and minimum user throughput.

  • Most fields in highland areas are covered with rye or hairy vetch for conservation during a fallow. However, using cover crops needs an effort to sow, and this makes top soil more vulnerable to loss due to surface disturbances. The aims of this study were to develop an automatic seeding-regulator device using a low-price, extensive-use GPS sensors and a DC motors and to evaluate a working efficiency of it after adaptation to partial tillage machine for reducing seeding effort. The amount of runoff water and soil loss was evaluated with partial tillage and simultaneous-seeding after harvesting soybean, in 17% slope lysimeters. In results, the seeding amount with the machine speed was stable between $0.5{\sim}0.8m\;s^{-1}$ of working sections. The automatic control device of seeding-rate could be enough to solve the slip problems of power selecting supply system or five four-wheel drive device. In partial tillage and simultaneous seeding, runoff water was 11.6% ($1.8m^3ha^{-1}$) of the scatter-seeding control ($15.5m^3ha^{-1}$) and soil loss was 13.2% ($7kg\;ha^{-1}$) of the scatter-seeding control ($53kg\;ha^{-1}$). These results suggest that partial tillage and simultaneous-seeding methods are very effective in decreasing work effort and soil loss of sloped land.

  • Purpose: This study examines the relationship among emotional labor, job burnout and organizational effectiveness of public healthcare center workers. In specific, authors focus on the relationships between emotional labor and job burnout and the one between job burnout and organizational effectiveness and mediating effect of job burnout between emotional labor and organizational effectiveness. Methods: For the empirical analysis, survey was conducted of workers in the public healthcare center, and 502 final data was secured after eliminating the insufficient ones, which were used in the statistical analysis. Results: Emotive effort showed to have a positive effect on organizational effectiveness, however emotive dissonance showed to have a negative effect on organizational effectiveness. Emotive effort showed to reduce the level of all job burnouts while emotive dissonance showed to increase the level of all job burnouts. All job burnout showed to have negative effects on organizational effectiveness. Job burnout showed to have mediating effect between emotional labor and organizational effectiveness. Conclusion: Emotive efforts of emotional labor has positive impact on organizational effectiveness while emotive dissonance has negative impact on organizational effectiveness overall. Therefore, public healthcare center should try to seek for proper way to reduce job burnout of workers, because job burnout functions as mediating element between emotional labor and organizational effectiveness.
