The study aimed to qualitatively examine middle school students' engagement in distance instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants comprised 119 students from a girls' middle school in Seoul, South Korea. To gain an in-depth understanding of the students' experiences, we collected their reflective journals, which included structured items about their learning engagement at three timepoints in 2020: April, July, and December. The following are the results: 10 themes and 18 concepts were derived, and they were integrated into causal conditions (sudden transition due to COVID-19), contextual condition (technology readiness, school education context), central phenomena (high level of behavioral engagement, low emotional engagement), interventional conditions (recognizing the potential of online learning, situational awareness about COVID-19 and online learning), action/interaction phenomena (development and use of self-regulated learning strategies), and consequences (changes in practices and perception towards online learning). Based on the findings, engagement patterns of the participants were classified into five types: proactive, conservative, receptive, reactive, passive learners. The present study demonstrated important findings that are essential for the improvement and development of engaging online learning strategies in the future.

Background: This study aimed to seek insights into Chinese women's lay beliefs about cervical cancer causal attributions and prevention. Materials and Methods: Twenty-three new immigrant adult women from Mainland China and thirty-five Hong Kong adult women underwent semi-structured in-depth interviews. Interviews were audio taped, transcribed and analyzed using a Grounded Theory approach. Results: This study generated three foci: causal beliefs about cervical cancer, perceived risk of cervical cancer, and beliefs about cervical cancer prevention. Personal risky practices, contaminated food and environment pollution were perceived as the primary causes of cervical cancer. New immigrant women more likely attributed cervical cancer to external factors. Most participants perceived cervical cancer as an important common fatal female cancer with increased risk/prevalence. Many participants, particularly new immigrant women participants, expressed helplessness about cervical cancer prevention due to lack of knowledge of prevention, it being perceived as beyond individual control. Many new immigrant participants had never undergone regular cervical screening while almost all Hong Kong participants had done so. Conclusions: Some Chinese women hold pessimistic beliefs about cervical cancer prevention with inadequate knowledge about risk factors. Future cervical cancer prevention programs should provide more information and include capacity building to increase Chinese women's knowledge and self-efficacy towards cervical cancer prevention.

This study was conducted to identify factors that influenced teachers' adoption of digital textbooks and causal relationships among the factors identified. Chasm theory was used in developing strategies for adoption of digital textbooks that consider teachers' innovativeness. This study also employed the information technology adoption model of Davis (1989) that illustrates decision making processes for the adoption of instructional media such as digital textbooks. Based on these two theories, a measurement instrument measuring teachers' innovativeness, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention of use was developed and validated through a series of reliability and validity tests. Causal relationships among the factors were examined using structural equation modeling. The result indicated that: a) perceived ease of use had a directional effect on perceived usefulness and an indirect effect on intention of use; and b) perceived usefulness had a direct effect on intention of use. Implications of this finding are discussed especially for the efforts in developing strategies for teachers' adoption of digital textbook. For example, when digital textbooks are introduced into public schools, teachers' perception of the usefulness of digital textbooks, beyond just ease of use, should be considered.

The purpose of this study is to examine the organizational politics, resistance change, turnover intention, and organizational commitment of organizational members during mergers and acquisitions. Recently, many companies are interested in mergers and acquisitions for business diversification and market extension. A merger is a legal consolidation of two entities into one, whereas an acquisition occurs when one entity takes ownership of another entity's stock, equity interests, or assets. This research model establishes a structural equation model. This model is set in a causal relationship between manager's organizational politics, peer organizational politics, and change resistance and the change resistance has a causal relationship of turnover and tissue immersion. In particular, this study will test different of organizational politics by position. Research results, the organizational politics of managers and colleagues have shown increasing change resistance. The change resistance has resulted in a reduction of organizational commitment and an increase of turnover intention. Next, the position analysis showed that top management level, middle management level, and working-level officials showed different organizational politics. The working-level officials are influenced by their manager politics and are influenced in organizational commitment and turnover intention by change resistance. The middle manager level is influenced by the organizational politics of bosses and colleagues, and organizational commitment is weakened by change resistance. The CEO level is not affected by organizational politics in the company, but the turnover intention is strengthened and the organizational commitment is weakened by the change resistance. This study has contributed to further updating the theory of organizational politics based on mergers and acquisitions. As a practical implication, we suggest an organizational integration strategy for a new organization.
Regulatory sentiment refers to the market's subjective evaluation of regulatory reform and is one of the most widely adopted indicators to those charged with implementing and diagnosing regulatory policies. The use of regulatory sentiment in advanced analysis has become universal, albeit it is often limited due to difficulties in articulating consistent and objective quantitative indicators that can meticulously reflect market sentiment overall. Thus, despite ample effort by scholars to read the economic impact of regulatory sentiment in the real economy, causal links are difficult to spot. To fill this gap in the literature, this study analyzes a regulatory sentiment index and economic performance indicators through a text analysis approach and by inspecting diverse tones in media articles. Using different stages of tests, the paper identifies a causal relationship between regulatory sentiment and actual economic activities as measured by private consumption, facility investment, construction investment, gross domestic investment, and employment. Additionally, as a result of analyzing one-unit impulse of regulatory perception, the initial impact on economic growth and private investment was found to be negligible; this was followed by a positive (+) response, after which it converged to zero. Construction investment showed a positive (+) response initially, which then rapidly changed to a negative (-) response and then converged to zero. Gross domestic investment as the initial effect was negligible after showing a positive (+) reaction. Unfortunately, the facility investment outcome was found to be insignificant in the impulse response test. Nevertheless, it can be concluded that it is necessary and important to increase the sensitivity to regulations to promote the economic effectiveness of regulatory reforms. Thus, instead of dealing with policies with the vague goal of merely improving regulatory sentiment, using regulatory sentiment as an indicator of major policies could be an effective approach.
The effect of smartphone usage motivation on application display advertising attitude and advertising avoidance was investigated. In addition, the mediating effect of advertising intrusion was confirmed. The total number of participants in the study was 309, and the data collection method used a survey method. Covariate structural analysis was conducted to investigate the causal relationship between smartphone usage motivation and advertising attitude and the mediating effect of perceived intrusion on advertising avoidance. There are five results. First, the motivation for using smartphones had a significant effect on the display advertising attitude of smartphone applications. Second, the display advertising attitude of the smartphone application had a significant effect on the advertising avoidance behavior. Third, the display advertising attitude of smart phone application had a significant effect on perceived advertising intrusion. Fourth, the perception of intrusiveness of display advertising in smartphone applications had a significant effect on advertising avoidance behavior. Finally, it was confirmed that the perceived ad intrusion has a partial mediating effect in the causal relationship of the smartphone application display advertising attitude to the ad avoidance behavior. The results of this study will contribute to suggesting strategies to reduce advertising avoidance behavior.
Consumers empty perfectly safe to intake perishable foods everyday if they are older than what prints on expiration date. The variation in expiration dating is freshness labeling represented in various terms such as sell by, package, best before, and so on. Regardless of the terms used and meanings are attached, consumers tend to conceive of freshness labeling on food as end of its shelf-life. Consequently, the food waste becomes a big issue for businesses in food sector. In an effort to demonstrate flexibility on this, KFDA(Korea Food & Drug Administration) introduced "best before" date in domestic market place to reduce food waste, based on the food safety test conducted by KCA(Korea Consumer Agency 2009). The results indicated freshness labeling on food should not be considered as the end of its life. Current study examined the underlying mechanisms(i.e. risk perception, self-construals, and indecisiveness) that influence consumers' intention on prolonged consumption of food beyond its stamped date when the KCA test results are shown to them. In addition, the moderating effect of regulatory focus is tested in the causal relationships between underlying mechanisms and different groups of prolonged consumption intention. Study participants are divided into three groups of prolonged consumption intention: no-change, moderate-change, and wide-change. The group with moderate-change in intention being as our point of reference, logistic regression analyses are conducted on 276 sample population. The results indicated that consumers with high source credibility risk are likely to show wide-change in intention on prolonged consumption while physical risk did not show significance. The consumers with independent self-construal are likely to show no-change in intention on prolonged consumption while interdependent self-construal did not show significance. Indecisiveness showed association a group with wide-change in intention on prolonged consumption. The moderating effect of regulatory focus showed valid results in most situations; the promotion-focused consumers showed wide-change in intention, while prevention-focused consumers showed no-change in intention. Furthermore, the moderating effect of promotion-focus showed a dominant position over the causal effect of indecisiveness in which decisive consumers(i.e. no-change in intention); if they are promotion-focused they tend show for the wide-change in intention instead. It is important to note that for those promotion-focused consumers(or situations), promotion-related arguments are more effective, while for those prevention-focused consumers(or situations) prevention- related arguments are more effective means of persuasion.

Due to the low interest rates of banks according to the breakdown economy after the global financial crisis in 2008 As a substitute for financial products, the investment demand has been increased for rentable investment funds such as commercial building and officetel. However, the problems such as oversupply, decrease of a rental profit and negative perception of development projects have been occurred. One of the primary problems is the existing deterministic method of project feasibility analysis. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop feasibility model by applying system dynamics method in residential officetel. To achieve the objective, first, the previous studies are investigated. Second, the causal loop diagram is structured based on the collected data. Third, the feasibility model is developed through the causal loop diagram. Fourth, the effectiveness is validated and compared to collected actual data. The proposed model can be helpful whether or not conduct execution of an officetel development project to the decision makers.

Finding causes of workers' unsafe behaviors is important to prevent construction accidents because 80 percent of accidents occur by workers' unsafe behaviors. In this regard, this research aims to investigate possible reasons of workers' unsafe behaviors based on workers' cognitive process model using System dynamics. This study is based on two ways of workers' cognitive process which are in relation to hazard perception and failure of hazard perception. Based on existing literature, causal loops for workers' cognitive process are developed to explain workers' habituation by staying out of accidents, safety learning by experience, failure of hazard perception, and attitude change by accidents. The interactions between the developed loops provide managerial insights to reduce workers' unsafe behaviors from a safety manager's perspective including increasing the probability of workers' hazard perception through knowledge management, maintaining workers' positive attitude toward safety, and controlling first-line supervisors to eliminate workers' unsafe behavior. The research allows us to better understand the causes and solutions of workers' unsafe behaviors in workers' cognitive perspectives.
RPA (Robotic Process Automation) technology has recently been spotlighted to preemptively respond to the 4th industrial revolution without spending a lot of time and money to improve various existing business and IT processes. In this study, variables affecting intention to use RPA technology were representatively identified into three positive factors and three negative factors, and the causal relationship between the effects of these variables on actual RPA acceptance intention was examined. After conducting an email survey for general office workers, structural equation analysis (SEM) was performed using SPSS 27.0 and SmartPLS 3.3.5. The second order factor of a positive perception consisting of security, accuracy, and efficiency, and the second order factor of a negative perception consisting of job security, execution error, and fear of introduction failure. The positive perception affected the intention to use RPA through perceived usefulness and perceived ease. It was confirmed that the negative perception has a mediating effect on the intention to use RPA through acceptance conflict. In addition, it was confirmed that the presence or absence of experience in using RPA interacts with perceived ease and has a moderating effect on intention to use RPA. It can be said that there is practical and theoretical implications from the point of view of knowledge management in that it allows companies to recognize and respond to which factors are important from the point of view of companies that want to use RPA.
